  1. Whats the deal there? Do these two 40 year olds not like each other?
  2. Just decided, Uruguay for me - excited at prospect of Nacho getting a winners medal (scurries off to check he's in their squad...)
  3. Lovenkradns for the photo shoot.
  4. After his post match England v Germany comments, I highly doubt he is. This World Cup has made him lose the plot completely. This... I'm sure if you ask Jayson now he will still bleat on about how unlucky England have been not reaching the latter stages of this WC and England should have won the Germany game 4-4 based on how many times teams hit the woodwork or were close to creating a goal scoring chance... His world is completely upside down at this point imho..
  5. This one is a slightly different angle, it's a bit more Liv orientated. Is that alright with you? settle pettle, i just wondered if they tied in and i missed something carry on
  6. don't know how i became so numb with watching top flight football; i'd rather lower division or foreign games...love playing football more than ever before even though i'm fat and old but talk to me about the premiershit and i can't be arsed guess it's just that i could pretty much get a pen now, in july, and more or less write down the table and it'd be right in all the places that matter so no, not looking forward to it other than the fact that we're back where we belong
  7. partially if his posts elsewhere are kosher
  8. ha ha, aye but look how many times they have won the world cup. And when they do have a team that's less 'fancy technique', they go out in the Quarters.... Jayson missing the point again; one WC performance does not mean technique and balls skills are inferior to physicality and running...it's the number of world cups the brazilians have won vs the english that means the opposite i'm afraid mate
  9. hold on i've just noticed the thread title; i thought parky vs benitez was based on the assertion that benitez was shit not that liverpool ruined him...
  10. That was the biggest disappointment of the World Cup for me... I always thought Capello would pick the form players and the players to fit the system. Not sure why I thought that, but it certainly didn't happen. agreed...better have a system and pick the right players for it than pick a group of players then try to crowbar them into a formation...football 101 tbh
  11. Ironic you say that, given that England had more possession and Germany's first goal came from a route one goal kick and brute strength from the striker. The type of goal Allardyce would be proud of. I think the Champions League is a particularly bad example for the point you're trying to make, as English teams have done very well in recent years. general play in that game they were fast and imaginative, far from route one champions league is the perfect example: British teams "do well" by getting to the quarters/semi's or whatever but have won it 3 (?) times since it started i think... Spanish team have won it at least 5, Italian probably the same... fact is with the investment in the league over the last 10 - 15 years and the frequency with which it's played (yearly not every 4) you'd have expected them to do better but again the British style of play will fail more often than it will succeed against south american / European teams if the world cup was played every year England would win it at some point, is what i'm saying in a roundabout way, as they'd be exposed to it more frequently and would be able to adapt their style more as they do in the CL...once every 2/4 years isn't enough imo whereas the other sides play that way the whole time, it's their style!
  12. fuck me i and others said that ages ago, makes more sense than anything else i've heard for a lack of progress in our game
  13. Go look back at how we went out of the 3 tournaments 2002-2006. The oppositions we were playing supposedly have exactly what you think we need, yet what put them through? Being better at penalties & one fluked freekick from the eventual world champions to win by a goal. Your argument doesnt stack up. Its an overreaction. Actually it's not is it? If it was an overreaction history would have England winning more than a single cup on home soil in '66 (with a helping hand 'fluke' goal I might add). It would have us in more semi-finals etc... can't remember the stats but it's something like 17 major semi's the Krauts have played in vs 2 from England during the same period. Pretty confident my argument stacks up quite nicely thanks.
  14. @ some people not thinking those pink ads are a fucking shocker
  15. You honestly think Algeria are a better team than Croatia? Not just that, you think theyre so much better. That their ability can hold us to 0-0, while Croatia get hammered 5-1 & 4-1 ? Wasnt anything wrong with our tactical awareness those days was there, or our ability to play as a team. No to answer your questions, but beating one team doesn't mean you're automatically capable of beating an 'inferior' team at International level, no less at a WC where the Algerian's were likely playing for more than the next sponsorship deal as I felt England's 'names' were. The point is, and always has been, that the physical kick and rush approach of the PL will win against the slower continental game but very rarely when it counts at a major tournament. When it gets to that point you need more than enthusiam and physical strength. The CL back that up to an extent, it goes in cycles of English teams performing pretty well and playing to their strengths but falling short interspersed with a rare win.
  16. Are you suggesting Rooney is carried by his foreign teammates at Man Utd? Take Rooney out of Man Utd and the "foreign lads" have not done the business at Man Utd. Take Gerrard out of Liverpool and it's the same story. Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard have been star players for their clubs. There's no point pretending they're sh*t and saying we need new players. That is hiding from the issue. We need to figure out why good footballers are not putting in the same performances they do for their clubs, why as a unit the defenders looked like they'd never seen each other before. It's not a question of lack of skill. We couldn't beat Algeria because of poor organization, poor tactics, and players not performing to their potential. These are the issues we must address if we are to do well in major tournaments. For the record, I do believe England should be doing more at grass-roots level to produce a wider pool of players to choose from, and youth coaching could be improved. But I don't believe for a second that Rooney is carried by his Man Utd team or that he lacks the ability to make an impression against the USA or Algeria. I believe we were bad as a unit but more worryingly our individual players not show even the slightest glimpse of their talent. I don't have the answers, but I strongly believe this is what needs looking at the most. To concentrate on youth coaching and ignore the question of why world class players can't dominate Algeria is IMO hiding from the issue. Actually Man United won 3 B2B titles largely down to the contributions of top class foreign players like Ronaldo & Tevez (not that Rooney didn't contribute). Once they were removed from the fold the title slipped away again did it not? Chelski won the title with Lampard of course and massive contributions from top class foreigners like Carvalho & Drogba. Gimp has it right imo but it doesn't stop with skills; it's attitude, tactical awareness and a number of other things that need to change in the English game before we come close to succeeding again. Your point about Algeria is a good one, we HAVE better players than them on the surface, better individuals, but as a team they failed to gel and put in a performance. Having good individuals means nothing in International football, well not nothing but it's not the be all and end all. Look at Uruguay, they've got 2 individuals up front and a team most people would struggle to name but they're doing pretty well. I thought this about Capello after the US game - for me in English football there's a workable solution, i.e. there's a group of players that will be able to go out and play as a team and do very well. I have no doubt it's not one that people would expect, i.e. you'd have to cull any number of people like Gerrard/Lampard etc. to make it work. It's about time a millionaire England manager was actually good enough to sit and analyse what we have in the country rather than continue to try and fit the wrong number of square pegs in round holes because it's the easier option than having the media hounding him for dropping super Fwank or EBJT.
  17. Fabio, it's OK!! A solution is at hand: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2010/teams/england/7865981/World-Cup-2010-Michael-Owen-eyes-England-return.html
  18. Why else do people do things at work? It will be in their contracts that they have to so stuff like this when asked. but jesus yeah, being asked to pose is one thing - to pose pissing around with another footballers feet and playing with a teddy bear? maaaaaaan
  19. why would you pose for any of that if you were a millionairre professional footballer? photographer: "hi peter, can you just hold this teddy bear and look at it like you want to have sex with it please?" peter: "get fucked i'm off to play golf" is how it should have went still the quality of the photo is weird and none of it looks right, wouldn't surprise me if it was a Photoshop job all round - the whole thing just doesn't sit right or look right...
  20. I think they were excepting PUMA to come up with a strip that made a statement about how much they valued having NUFC as a client. What they’ve got is a shirt that says they don’t give a shit. yep, new manufacturer, newly promoted etc. what better way to sell loads of shirts and cement good sales by putting in 24 hours effort and designing something smart as fuck (like they've done for spurs)? instead of just getting the template up on the design programme and drawing some black lines on it if they'd come out with great strip to start it would have made people warm to them, a bit like Adidas did with the grandad collar strip
  21. this crossed my mind but wasn't the deal announced a while back? It was announced that they would be making our strips for the next two years, there was no mention of how much we were getting paid etc........ be worth some smart arse digging up that press release - profit sharing deal negotiated by ashley would explain how fuckin cheap they look and how much effort has gone into the design!!!
  22. this crossed my mind but wasn't the deal announced a while back?
