Looks like we have finally found our level. The people who forced Keegan out accused him of being a "dreamer" because he wanted big names to galvanise the club like he did when he arrived as a player. I still can't believe some people are prepared to give Ashley the benefit of the doubt to the end of the transfer window. At least with Ashley here the Club is in a stable financial position, and we are finally trying to run it as a business. If we stay in the league this year I will be happy regardless of where the Mackems/Smogs finish, personally I'd sell Given and use the money to buy a striker. Harper a more than able replacement and Forster and Krul are two very good prospects. RE: Barry Ferguson I think it would be an excellent signing and would give more talent and passion to the side. piss take, surely?

I was thinking of next season, as I expect Owen to leave and it looks like Given wants away as well. If we are losing our better senior players I don't see much point in holding on to the worse ones. Owen and Given are quality but the likes of Given in particular are held up as examples of great Newcastle pros. If their heart isn't in it any more I feel we should sell them on and try and get younger players in who are eager to prove themselves here. oh right aye, agree what we've seen from duff, butt & smith as examples of experience they can fuck right off imo - take some gambles on young, hungry players, i'm all for it look at who makes any kind of difference in the team we have now, owen (when fit) & given aside: zog, martins, guthrie, bassong, jonas, colo & beye are alls i can think of...none of them long term experienced PL players of the likes you refer to... said experienced PL players are basically the ones dragging us back; viduka, duff, smith, butt, shola...replace those five with some young, pacy, hungry players tomorrow from any league & i'd be a lot more confident of staying up this season

I still can't believe some people are prepared to give Ashley the benefit of the doubt to the end of the transfer window. do you have anything to suggest this isn't just JFK's target and f*** all to do with ashley? hardly fits in with the "policy" and "transfer team" thing does it? signing someone of his age, price and wage bracket granted ashley has to take the fall for appointing such a t*** in the first place but if this is who kinnear wants then it's who he wants Who knows? It often seems like we are running two parallel systems. The "management structure" supposedly scouting for younger players who are then bought with no recourse to the manager and the manager's own targets bought from another transfer fund. It's as if Kinnear has been told we've got £5m and we are bringing in Carlos Kickaball and Julio Geordio, you have £5m have a look around and see who you fancy, here is Willie McKay's list of clients. Either way the system seems fragmented with no clear leadership or direction and no communication between the actual parties themselves (Kinnear, Ashley, Ashley's cronies, Wise etc) pretty much agree with that, have said all along though if it was a case of 5m, 6m or however much being given to JFK or Wise et al i'd go with the latter everyday as i haven't the slightest ounce of faith in JFK to choose a decent player fair enough for 4-5m you're gonna struggle to find a gtreat CM but i'd be inclinded to look lower league or abroad than for the likes of barry fucking ferguson

butt's been offered a new contract I know, wasn't it part of his previous contract and performance based? regardless, he more than anyone in our squad is a player I'd expect to think about leaving, should we sell Given/Owen. Just because we have offered him an extension and we dont think he deserves it, doesnt mean he wants the extension. i'll be staggered if he doesn't sign it tbh, he probably knows he's finished as well hope to fuck he doesn't sign mind

erm i can't see anywhere else this being posted: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_4738893,00.html Newcastle are trying to sign Rangers duo Barry Ferguson and Madjid Bougherra in a double deal, skysports.com understands. Magpies chief Joe Kinnear is looking to bring a number of new faces into the club during the winter transfer window. The Rangers duo are very high on Kinnear's wanted list and talks began earlier this week. Both midfielder Ferguson and defender Bougherra have Premier League experience with Blackburn and Charlton, respectively, and Kinnear sees the duo as ideal signings. Newcastle are looking to take advantage of Rangers' current financial situation and swoop for the duo. "I have enquired about Ferguson, but we will wait and see what the outcome of that is," said Kinnear. "We are finding it difficult to bring certain players from clubs. Our bids haven't been accepted so far. "The problem is two or three clubs are in for the same players. At the moment, there could be teams bidding more than us. "It would help if I could move some of the players here and get the finances in that way. But we have had no bids for them." be afraid boys and girls, be very very afraid EDIT: bollox, there's a thread about it

never heard a manager of high profile club talk so much in my life, it's not even that he just talks shite - he just TALKS about stuff that should be kept in house that's why i think he's tripping himself up so much, he's so desperate to be heard and keep his profile high that he's just saying anything, anything at all either that or he's fucking retarded close call
-
yes i can, but, quoting his prior achievements were called bollox. if you go for a job,...do you tell them what good things you did in your previous experience, or when asked, do you say, thats not relevant, this is a new job, my experience dosent count here, i might be rubbish now,.... read what i wrote again, i said the tone was bollox the tone being to directly juxtapose KK's previous acheivements with the club and imply that things would have automatically been a million times better & we'd have sell out crowds (in the middle of a financial crisis) and shoot back up the table where we belong if only nasty mike had backed him it's a one sided version of events based on facts from 15 odd years ago hence libertine using the back to the future image i'd image

im actually very interested in this subject. poor comparison btw. Then that fair enough. Please just offer some contructive argument instead of just posting childish photographs. Everyone knows my opinion of KK. All I ever ask is that he is respected. let the child play with his photographs. he wouldnt have said it was out dated. if Ashley had Backed Keegan, and we had a decent season. it is a nonsense what ashley has done btw, cos if he had spent big, and backed kk, he would have recouped that in increased revenues, and maintainted the value of the club. along the lines of what sir j.h. did. instead he has, underinvested, got in a cheap manager, and lost revenue, and value. If he had Backed KK, it would have paid for itself, and we would all be well happy. you're making a HUGE fucking leap there by the way, you know that right? what was it KK got to spend at man city, 50m? did virtually fucking nothing with it... in the interests of balance yeah, he only got them promoted to the prem, .. i doubt any club would think 10 seasons in the prem is worth paying £50mil to get there. i'm going to assume when you say it would have paid for itself you mean we'd have made europe, no? how else would it have been different from what's happening now financially unless europe was involved? that's the major source of income it would have been a while before KK got us to europe imo how would it have pid for itself, better than now, without europe. full stadium, more televised games, bigger crowds for cup runs, longer cup runs, increased spending on merchandise, more interest from sponsorship. Keegan can revive many revenue streams that are currently flat due to appathy. shame ASHLEY bottled it then, eh? how is it a shame? i thought you wanted ashley out? :iamatwat: *stoops to his level* I wanted him out after he bottled it, not at first when he was making all his promises, like he is now. its great isnt it, supporting Newcastle these days, really is good, we really are something to enjoy. i could post at least 10 keegan quotes which turned out to be complete lies. i assume you "missed" these? i bet theres more than 10 from Ashley. you ignore my last sentence, the one that puts your argument into context. it hasnt been great supporting newcastle for many years. ashley to blame for all those years too? course he is! no, he is to blame for now tho. not even a little bit keegans fault? i'm of the mind that some of it has to be keegans fault for walking but until we know exactly how intolerable his position was i'm reserving judgement right now i'm firmly in the 100% ashley fault zone but some of it will be down to kk imo, history sort of tells us as much

cp40 can you see how not agreeing that KK would have necessarily had us storming up the table with some "backing" is different tearing into his prior achievements with the club? i can

Pile of bollox eh, tell what on my list of things , never actually happened,...i will be waiting. the factual information you quote is fine, it's the implication it would all have happened again but i've answered that elsewhere what did you think the back to the future picture was for incidentally? that should answer this for you really

didn't think the photo was aimed at KK myself, it was obviously (to me) aimed at the tone of cp40's post which was a pile of bollocks to be fair, what's 7 tints up from rose? 'cause that's what colour glasses he was wearing when he wrote that KK's getting like a 'pc protected' endangered species round here, you can't say fuck all about the guy (or apparently post a picture that doesn't even directly apply to him)

when? now or next season?

to be fair, and at the risk of derailing this thread (not exactly a fucking laughathon anyways), this kind of backs up what NE5 says in the heavyweight thread; as much as i hated FS for a number of reasons one thing you could pretty much guarantee he'd do was invest some money from ST sales & sponsorship during the close season [i don't want any examples of the bowyer fucking summer thanks, it's been done] inept fucker would always keep having a go, you've got to give him that, this feels like we're going out without a fight - in fact it feels like we're going out without turning up for the fight

Sums up how i feel very well. You almost want it to happen so you can begin the grieving/re-building process this is kind of how i feel too, i've felt it coming for long while, well before ashley pitched up but that tit is putting the last few nails in the coffin for me if it's gonna happeen now might as well be the time, ship out some of the high earners and rebuild from there...
