Honestly, I will probably remember this as the worst WC I've lived through because of this shit. It taints everything.
  2. I'm starting to think the English might be dumber than the Yanks thinking it's serious.

They were invented for mass production (plastic version) around 96 and became popular around 02/03. Culture my arse.
  5. Well it's real, but obviously they wrote it with their tongues wedged firmly in their cheeks. i always thought the New York Post was a bit too dim to do something like that though. In the battle between Europeans thinking US people are stupid and a major US newspaper not knowing enough about soccer to manage to not mess up their front page, I'd back the US newspapers. It's too big an error to pass without it being tounge in cheek tbh.
  6. No way, they're without Robben... a 1-1 draw! Van der Vaart is not a bad replacement. I'm thinking 3-0 or 4-0. Well you might be right, all we need is to beat Cameroun and Japan... I think you'll advance, just not beat the Dutch.

Kjetil Siem, the president of the PLS says it's too late to do it now and it's just a PR stunt saying they "might" get banned to make people less angry.

  9. You'll get absolutely shafted by the Dutch.
  10. Katy Perry on it yesterday was hot though, but almost couldn't manage through it because of that fat unfunny fuck.
  11. squeaky bum time.... The Aussies are so going to score now. That would suit me well.
  12. Utter drivel. Just because a player doesn't cut it in England doesn't make them s***. Dezzie, I guess you missed this bit "The Brazil squad is poor by its normal standard" Can you find a poorer Brazil W/C squad? But it's often the collective not the sum of the parts. The Brazil squad in 2006 was packed full of 'star' players and they flopped terribly. This team doesn't have as many star players on paper but as a team and a unit they are one of the best Brazil teams in a long time. Dunga has won everything in his path. Spot on Swelly. I have watched Brazil in every qualifying game that has been a SKY. They still have that sparkle & passing that only they can do at times. But it is surreal seeing some of the names in that squad & how there time in PL went. tbf Brazilians have never really played all that well in England, the style of play just does not suit them.
  13. Spain versus Honduras. Honduras have some players. They probably won't win, but I don't think they'll be murdered. I hope they do. Would be boring watching Spain just be alone on the pitch.
  14. Think that will be tighter than people think. Still think Brazil will win like. NK are apparently a very solid defensive unit. Think it'll probably only be 2 or 3-0 to Brazil tbh.
  15. Kind of like how people really underestimate the England side. I don't underestimate you, I'm being realistic. You'll reach the quarters and probably go out there. Or the semis depending on your opposition, you're not good enough as a team unit to win it, but you do have the players. Well, your centre defence is not good enough. Carragher ffs.
  16. Only if they play against Robert Green every game, other than that they are shite. They almost won the Confeds Cup and beat Spain. Their players aren't impressive on paper, but their team spirit makes up for it.
  17. People really understimate the US side. They're good enough to reach as far as the Quarters IMO.
  18. Does qualifying play that much of a part in how the actual tournament pans out though? Example soon to be illustrated: Holland. They'll reach the quarters/semis in spectacular fashion, and then fizzle out like always.
  19. Better opposition in the South American qualifiers tbh, also think people are underestimating Maradona as a manager just because of some press conference antics and so on. And England only sound like world beaters because of how popular the PL is all over the world, you have heard of all of England's players. But that doesn't mean they're automatically better than the ones in the Bundesliga for instance. You have the players on paper to do really well, but you're not a team. Like Newcastle in the relegation season.
  20. Some in-game action: £8 on Germany to score 4+ £5 on Germany -2.5
  21. It's not just about the names though, it's how well they play together. If you were given the choice of Low or Capello instead of Hughton, everyone would choose Capello. It doesn't make any sense why they are so much better than England, but it is plainly evident that they are. I would actually choose Löw, I've never been a fan of Capello.
