It’s not ideal but I think we’re left with little option, given that as far as we know Man U have offered loose change as compensation and are sticking with it. A deal can be done but their “go very low, stick with it, and insult everyone” tactic isn’t constructive.
-
What if we are though? What rule would we be breaking?
-
He’s a solid enough midtable CB in his prime years, the hope would be that Howe can make him more than that.
-
Maybe we can do a swap deal for Aaron Cresswell and Danny Ings.
-
Did we sack our scouting department at some point?
-
If it’s part of a PSR scam I can get behind it.
-
My guess is he’s connected with DCL’s agent and he’s getting used to either get a better contract at Everton or drum up interest.
-
It’s McTominay all over again, the financials make zero sense. This one won’t happen.
-
He’s supposedly on around £120k a week at Everton, he’s not going to take a paycut. My guess is he would cost at least £25m.
-
DCL would take up a significant chunk of our transfer budget and become one of our highest paid players.
-
I think England were poor.
-
This is ruining Southgate to Man U.
-
I think players tend to give themselves credit for their development tbh. I could see Man City being interested if he waits for a year, but it all depends on what he wants. I don’t give us much chance and I expect we’re banking on someone else.
-
They don’t seem in great need of a CB with Guehi and Andersen, and I don’t really get why Broja is rated. Maybe as a cheap back up, but that’s it. Bad deal.
-
England just seem to turn into a Steve Bruce side when pressed. Retreat to our own third and one man presses whoever has the ball. On the ball I think we just had a bit of an off night, but off the ball we look a badly coached team.
-
They press one player at a time, it’a useless.
-
Awful for Everton if they can’t flog him, they’ll have to keep a key player and take a small points deduction.
-
If you want them to negotiate you need to make an offer that gets them interested. They’re such a weird club. Everything they do is so public as well, and I bet it’s coming from Rattledcliffe, he thinks he’s using the media to his advantage.
-
Taking massive wages off their payroll as well. They should’ve been stuck with those players.
-
Ref looks like Owen Jones.
-
I can’t get my head around why he’s making such low offers. He’s not going to look like a tough negotiator when he has to raise his opening bids by 50%+ to get who he wants.
-
Their number 1 target isn’t available until after the euros, all they’re doing is trying to shut down media speculation until they can get their man.
-
He’s probably right but I haven’t listened to this guy since Henry Mauriss.
-
I’d love that one to be true.

Exactly, it’s a stay of execution. They have no confidence in him and expect him to start the season poorly, at which point Gareth will insert himself into Man U’s hot seat.
