If Liverpool really don’t bid again then he has to come crawling back, the option to leave isn’t there. He can be the Wilson replacement this season while we look for a younger alternative to Wissa with a higher ceiling. Not a bad situation for us IMO.

I think maybe we should give them a 24 hour deadline to agree a price. This works in our favour if we get Wissa and Frattesi.

All this depends on Liverpool making an acceptable bid ASAP, they can’t be allowed to just bid on deadline day.

My approach would depend on what we think we can get done before the window closes. If we know we can get Wissa and Andrey Santos or Gallagher with the money, then I’m ok flogging him for 135m. If it would only be Wissa, then I want more. From Liverpool’s perspective this transfer is all about ego IMO. Ekitike has fit perfectly into their team and is scoring goals, Isak will shift him out to the left. It might still work but it’s really unnecessary. They need a backup forward, not a 135-150m forward.

So the idea that promising young players won’t sign for us because of how Isak has been treated was as much bollocks as it sounded.

I’m sorry but that is dumb as shit. Isak can’t blame us if they don’t bid again, the club have bent over backwards to accommodate this when they didn’t have to.

I think behind closed doors Howe has wanted him gone since he fucked off the pre-season tour, he’s been massively disrespected. I hope Liverpool don’t get him for less than 140m, that seems a reasonable limit for us to come down to.

It looks pretty certain that Brentford aren’t selling Wissa. They have no replacement and haven’t been open to negotiating. They’ll see out the window and offer him a pay rise, maybe with a release clause.

With 4 days left we can’t be hoping Wolves get someone else in that makes them more open to selling, anything could go wrong with that transfer.

They’re pretty much guaranteed relegation without him, selling doesn’t make sense regardless of how much we can realistically offer IMO.

I don’t think Brentford ever gave us an indication they would sell Wissa either. I think we rely on what agents are telling us and assume clubs are bluffing.
