It just seems obvious to me that the best course of action is to push for Jackson and tell Isak to get a grip and be patient. After qualifying for CL again and maybe humping Liverpool out of another cup, we can flog him and get another striker.

The club have said there are conditions that could be met for his sale, so I don’t think our position has really been that he’s 100% not for sale. In hindsight I think we’ve been trying to get a replacement since we bid for Pedro. The club can say they’ve made an honest attempt to make this happen, so far Liverpool can’t.

I like Strand Larsen and I expect he would score goals here. I’d prefer him for £65m than Wissa for £50m. Both stupid money but that’s the situation we’ve put ourselves in. I can’t work out why this would be a possibility though, I assume this is nonsense.

It depends, if I was determined not to sell then I wouldn’t give a number. If I was an unwilling seller but had a silly number in mind that would persuade me, and if we’re close to the deadline, I think I’d give that number. From the buyers perspective though, if you’re close to the deadline and numbers aren’t even being discussed, then this process seems incredibly high risk.

Transfers are a total mystery to me, why is it so difficult to find out if a player is available and for what price? Why does it take so long to put bids in? A month and a half and Wissa’s availability is a mystery. Is it because all the communication is through agents rather than club to club?

I’m leaning towards no new striker and as a result Isak stays. He won’t play for a while though so we’ll have to make do with Gordon. I’m sure we’ll try and sign someone but we just keep getting led down garden paths by agents.
