  1. Have to agree. Doesn't not make him a great manager suddenly but I reckon this season will hurt him - providing they don't win the Champions League. Hurt him in what way? In securing another highly compensated and prestigious position? I disagree. In the opinions of irrelevant unknowns from the internet? This is possible.
  2. It is a unique experience when your team plays against Tiote. I was always scared that this guy would try to kill some of our players. I was relieved that Mikel Obi finished the match with two working legs. At the same time, he is a competent passer of the football. He makes us more formidable in a way that Perch, Anita, and even Sissoko do not. If we play him properly, I will very pleased to have him back.
  3. Superbowl tonight. My team is in the game. I will be sick just as I am now. Mali are a good side. If we go and play big-man football we will lose. We need the same hunger and passion of today.
  4. YEEESSS!! I doubted Keshi, but I was wrong. All my trust is with the Big Boss. I still think the likes of Taiwo and Odemwingie would have added great depth, but he was right to bring the local boys. Oboabona from Sunshine Stars quieted Droga and Sunday Mba from Warri Wolves resigned them to their fate.
  5. Emenike! I am so pleased by the first half. We have to keep playing at this level and even higher. The young boys are not scared! Barry is the only real weak link for Cote D'Ivoire. We have to continue to try and take advantage of him and pressure him. However, we surrendered last second equalisers in our first two matches. I am still nervous.
  6. Coaches plans, you can tell. It is a good idea for them because so much of our attacking play is based on Mikel playing good balls to the forwards who take men on. Rehashing their battle from last season as well.
  7. Emenike! You must do better than that!
  8. We've started quite well int his game. The two teams look quite even so far. This match will be tight. It really is somewhat embarrassing that this match between two of the continents most famous teams with plenty of star power is barely half full.
  9. Anita isn't an attacking player though, i keep saying it and it keeps falling on death ears. He's a straight up DM and the only reason he was playing so far forward before because he was more creative than any other player we had fit and quite frankly was quicker and technically better too. When he plays DM( mostly from Ajax days) he hardly goes past the half way line, he just wins the ball gets it and gives it in a very economic manner in a Busquets style if you will. It really does worry me how poorly he's being used and it depresses me that Perch is in front of him as he could do what Perch has done in last couple of games and better in his sleep. I have not seen him used correctly since he joined this club and hope that changes in the near future. What about his performances thus far in England lead you to believe this, though? I understand how he played in Holland, but Afonso Alves played liek Robert Van Persie in Holland, it doesn't always translate especially from that league in particular. The calibre and physicality of players is of a higher level in England.
  10. Mali sneak by host South Africa on penalties. No West African team has won the tournament since Nigeria did in 1994 (amazing considering how many West African players play in the top leagues of Europe. That will change in 2013. All six of the remaining sides are West African.
  11. This boy was flying forward at every opportunity today. I think he was the second best player on the pitch. It is strange what a bit of confidence can do for a footballer.
  12. Obviously the player isn't consistently great as he showed today (no one is), but that was an incredible home debut. Anyone who'd ever seen him play for Toulouse knew we had a good player here. I am very excited to see what we can accomplish with him in the team.
  13. That is horrendous defending from Chelsea. Why did they aggressively push so many players forward? The goal was so easy.
  14. Have we really been pushed back and defending, though? Chelsea had one extended period of pressure and scored a wonder goal and then a quick attack after a loss of possession that immediately led to another wonder goal.
  15. Would rather have Lloris tbh, though obviously Cesar is class. People were laughing at how poor he was less than 3 months ago. He wouldn't walk into anybody's side either. He was a great keeper, but he is now mistake prone and on an obvious decline.
  16. The way Chelsea are lining up, Perch will actually be very important. With one of Oscar/Mata and Bertrand as the wide players, Chelsea will not have much width in their attacking play. They will try to play intricate football in the centre and feed through balls to Ba. It is the perfect match for a dedicated defensive midfielder.
  17. Every player that QPR buys is thrown directly into the first team. That is the plan they've followed since January 2012.
  18. Jonas is starting Chelsea. Marveaux is allergic to defending. If there is one thing you can say for sure with Pardew, it is that he values defensive shape above all and in a match like this, you cannot expect him to play Sylvain. The only thing that truly annoys me is Yanga-Mbiwa being on the bench, but I believe I understand what Pardew is thinking.
  19. Pardew has no say in the players we buy. I think he just hasn't seen enough of him to think he should immediately start over Taylor.
  20. I don't think Bradley is anywhere near as talented as Dempsey or Eddie Pope.
  21. He's scored 5 goals in 22 matches for the season and has clearly struggled to play well. I don't understand how one can protest the idea that player he's been this season is adequate going into the future. I have faith because he's always been a scorer, but the idea that he's been good is ludicrous. Anyway, Incoming: 10/10: Proven quality at cut prices and reasonable wages. You cannot hope for much more. Outgoing: 3/10: Xisco away is a plus as is keeping most of our talented players. However, selling the leading goal scorer for a pittance without true replacement is not good enough. Especially for a team hovering above relegation. Averaging the two, I say 6.5/10. Subjectively, I am very pleased as the Ba departure was inevitable and we recovered very well, but objectively we lost one our most important players.
  22. What is Danny Simpson's incentive for going to Wigan? I can't imagine him being first choice or sharply increasing his wages. He is probably better off testing the open market.
