Anyone seen much of him? I don't think there is anything special with him at all. Good pace and decent technical ability, but no part of his game is exceptional at all. He'd be an improvement on what is here, so why not. Actually, I think Diabate might be preferable. At least he can produce something from all of these longballs.

Paul Scholes has never needed one, I dont think giggs does either. Well that's two. And coincidentally two players who never left for money or went after big contracts. Coincidentally they are also both players who have received high wages for the last twenty years without exception. Agents are needed in the modern game to solve the inefficiencies in the market that have been created by agents.

I've been uncomfortable about these ever since Portsmouth unveiled John Utaka and David Nugent on the same day. You can see where this led them.

The way that different countries and regions of the world play the game in such distinct ways. Specifically, the way that different countries produce the same type of player over and over again. The thing I love about football more than any other sport is how different the sport looks from one league or country to another and the different football cultures. Also, any goal where the ball is hit with such force that the people on the line make no attempt to save it. I remember Taiwo scoring a freekick in one of the French Cups, where the defender on the line instinctively jumped out of the way for self preservation.

Senegalese seem to have no more than five or so surnames. I can tell one straight away from the name. They are already top of the league without either of them playing a significant amount this season. It has been Musa upfront for large stretches of the season. CSKA would be a powerful side with all those players available, but their form does make him seem expendable.

Anita will never be a defensive midfielder in England unless undergoes a Shola-like body transformation or decides to grow four inches like Mikel did. Simply too weak, and looks at his best playing short passes and bringing the ball forward. -
Has Isco managed to make himself an outcast from every team he'd ever been involved in? Don't understate the risk we took with Ben Arfa.
-
For a player of his potential I'd say it is. Nice bit of hyperbole as well by mentioning Messi. I was completely serious. Cabaye had a 4 million release clause, now that is what I would call really low for a player of his ability. 15 million for a youngster with a lot of potential really low? Nah.. Consider the fees for Hazard, Oscar, and what Gotze and Muniain would cost. 15m is pretty good in comparison. Maybe I haven't seen enough of Isco, like I hadn't of Oscar tbf, but I think what Hazard, Gotze and Munain have shown is on a different level. In my defense I don't particularly make a point of watching every Malaga match like some others may do. I actually think Oscar has been more impressive than Hazard has this season. I thought he would actually take time to adapt to English football but he seems to have slotted in almost immediately. Think they've both been terrific this season, really hard to pick either for me. Mental that Benitez opted for Moses ahead of Oscar when he came in. Playing with actual width and protection for wingers is not mental. Oscar has some developing to do, imo.

Isco is older than Gotze, and only one year younger than Hazard. For Chelsea, getting a squad player winger (Moses) for 10 million was great business. They operate in a different realm.

What a start to this match! Koscielny deserves to be off the pitch, though. I think Arsenal will score at least one, btw. This will still be a good match.

Remy is a fantastic footballer. Unlike Cisse, he is the type of player that will always trouble the defence. It is notable however, that he has been off form or injured for quite a while now. We need someone to improve the side the moment they arrive, and I just hope he can return to his previous level with immediacy. Rumors have been linking Maiga with a move back to l'OM when Remy goes. That sounds decent business as well, IMO.

Aren't Allen and Lucas meant to be great, dynamic passers of the football. They've both been wasteful and sloppy. On reputation, it shouldn't be a personnel issue for them in midfield.

That transfer policy has got us to 16th to which you'll reply but we have players like ben arfa etc. We are 16th mainly because of a flawed transfer policy. Just to clarify, the loss of Guthrie, Kadar, Best, Forster, Lovenkrands, Smith, and Hogansson and the addition of Anita, Good, Amalfitano, and Bigirimana is the reason for the team dropping from fifth to sixteenth. This is what you are saying? -

Quite frankly, looking at the squad, there is no personnel reason that this team has underperformed so greatly this season. It is essentially the same as last year, with the foreign imports from last season given a season to adjust, Ben Arfa and Cisse available for the entire season, and some exciting youth coming in the transfer market along with one accomplished international from a major European nation. No player could have looked at the team in September and presumed we were going backwards. For what we have available, this season has been disgraceful in terms of player performance, management, and ownership. All should be condemned. -
Is he just entirely useless outside of smacking the ball into the net? He didn't have service today, and this is unfortunate, but when he gets the ball in our half, the result is almost always negative. His hold up play, passing, and dribbling are at the Nigerian Premier League level. Unbelievably poor. I do feel bad for him in this team, as he has been miscast.

Jonás Gutiérrez (now managing Club Almagro)

Perfectly fine as cover for central midfield, but that should be the full extent his role. The "runner" in a 4-3-3. I appreciated his defensive work, some creative passes/touches, and high level of exertion, but his pace is entirely gone. He's no longer an explosive athlete and struggles to go past players. -
He's not any weaker than Luka Modric or Oscar. Obviously these players are superior, but Marveaux would fit in well if the team gave him adequate protection and played in a manner that was conducive to his success. If we are going to smash the ball 80 feet in the air and ask him to try and win it off the DM, he not too useful. The boy's touches on the ball are always thoughtful and creative, though.

I think Pardew is a fairly good manager. The look on face during the matches reminds me of Fernando Torres or even Cisse at times this season. What he did to bring himself to the position of a Premiership manager and what he did successfully last season isn't working anymore. Frankly, he looks lost like a man who is bereft of confidence. With players, you persist with them, but when managers have unacceptable results that are replaced. I like Pardew, but I believe the time has come for us to move on unfortunately.

I was a top player in the Ibadan school yards, tbf, just because I was taller and larger than most anyone else. I just struggled with passing, controlling the ball, dribbling, and other things of that nature. And if I had made it, supporters would definitely regarded me as a mercenary.

I'm not too emotional about club football, tbh. Obviously, the results hit me like they hit everyone else, but at the end of things, these people on the pitch just happen to be ones that are slightly more qualified to perform the job I spent the first 16 years of my life applying for. If I had made the grade in football, I would have wanted to make as much money as possibe and win as many things as possible. They shouldn't need a connection to the club, they are employees.

Do you take random news stories from unreliable stories to represent the intentions of our club? Aliadiere is 29 and had scored more than five league goals in season one time in his career. To be fair, he's done well for a Lorient team that is performing well this season, but he's not good enough (though he would be our second best forward if he came). I'm actually not talking about rumours. Just didn't know where to put the question? Honestly, the club has known we were short and targeted the position as shown by the failed pursuit of Mariappa our first season in the league as well as the Sol Campbell experiment. With the team doing so well last season and Perch probably showing himself as an adequate fourth choice in the eyes of management it became less of a priority I suppose. Even still, we seem to have been actively pursuing defenders. Any problems with this club recently have been related to financial inflexibility, reluctance to pursue beyond Carr's first recommendation, and execution in terms of negotiation and actually completing transfers. I don't think our problem has been intention.

Do you think there is any chance we could bring Zat Knight back from the Championship? What would the cost be? If we need more than one CB this window, I would prefer that one was heavily experienced in the English leagues.
