IDEYE!!!!

I can't see anything being finalised until Lille's European future is decided tonight, given that is such a large factor in the ambition and attractiveness of the club to play in that competition in two consecutive seasons. Until then, this Newcastle supporter will disregard all reports about Mathieu Debuchy.

I suppose beggars cannot be choosers. OM have made a great start in the league despite all of the sales, and it would be fantastic to push on with some actual, non-toxic, cash signings. Still, Joey is a great talent whose skills should translate to France well. I look forward to watching him, but I just hope he has come to rejuvenate his career instead of taking a 9 month holiday. He's not mediocre at all, like.

I love Mr. Ben Arfa and it is amazing that he plays for us, but having watched the guy develop over the past three-four years I genuinely think Hazard is one of the best 5-10 players on planet Earth. Not just in terms of individual ability, but what he brings to the pitch on a consistent basis. HBA is in his prime, while Eden is born in the same year as Nile Ranger. 21/22 is the age where Messi really transformed into the best ever and I think Eden can do something similar if not as dramatic. One thing that this scouting team has done well is bring in players that are comfortable on the ball. If we can replace the likes of Williamson and Simpson and keep Cabaye/Tiote fit, HBA can be even more devastating. Currently, it can be hard for him to always affect the game when are pressured and we hit it long. The more composed the rest of the team is, the more we will see of him in the course of a match.

9 points out of 9 for OM in Ligue 1 so far. It is a shame we are giving away so many of our good players for financial reasons because the team has looked very decent under Baup and Gignac seems to be back from the dead. City have allowed two goals in three consecutive games. Something is still off about them. They might still take the title because they have the most talent, but I cannot remember a time during the entire calendar year of 2012 where they were impressive and played to potential. They won the title last season based on their absurd dominance of the last few months of 2011 and haven't started this one in a way they would like. I think Chelsea and Man U have a legitimate opportunity to usurp them this season.

I was just thinking that whoever manages the player sales at Chelsea needs to be sacked. They let both Borini and Sinclair leave for a pittance last season and now highly regarded Premiership sides are buying them for massive eight figure sums a year later. I know the money is not important to a team like that, but what a waste.

Vurnon Anita (now playing for RKC Waalwijk)
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to ponsaelius's topic in Football
His game's alright. He's quick, comfortable on the ball, and composed in possession, which is useful anywhere in the team. The problem for me when I watch him is that he doesn't seem to be the player that was advertised (I don't watch much Dutch football, or any, actually). I don't think he's a defensive midfield player in England. Physically, he's just quite weak and even though it is early in his career he doesn't seem to have the right calming effect and dominance of a DM. I was just comparing him to Mikel in the game and he was always a wall forcing the ball out wide, imposing himself in the middle because of physical strength, and being a comfortable out ball/distributor. Tiote is exactly the same with the added bonus of violence and emotional leadership. I don't Anita has it in him to play like that. However, it is my opinion that he'll still be a very shrewd signing. He's another quality midfield player in a team that now has quite a few. We haven't seen him at fullback, but his natural attributes suggest that he'd be good there as well. I think he'll end up being our 12th man (the top option/utility player off the bench) and we'll be a better team because of his presence. -
The guy reminds me of Akinfenwa, tbh. I think Fletcher will score a very good number of goals for Sunderland. It's not a great signing because of the figures, but in a purely football sense, they've gone out and fixed what was probably their biggest deficiency. They've greatly improved themselves, imo.

Ramires isn't actually a forward player and it is evident when Chelsea play team that sit back against them and soak up pressure. He doesn't have great close control, isn't a goal threat against a packed defence, and struggles to create chances. I think Ramires is one of the better players they have, and essential against the big teams, but having the likes of him and Bertrand on the wings when chasing a game. I feel the same way about Jonas tbh, he's much more useful in certain situations.

A winger singing for a team that has two central midfielders and two wingers, and plays more than 50 games a season. Horrible decision. With the team as currently constructed, he will play from the bench many matches. Much better than the likes of Sturridge and Ramires against the lesser sides. He will do alright, I believe and replace Kalou.

I think reserves is still considered football at a competitive level. The rule I heard discussed only applied to preseason fixtures.

It's only been two matches, but Federici looks genuinely terrible. Both mistakes he's made have been unbelievable. The Stoke one was laughable.
-
Ivanovic is five yards behind him when the ball is played

Lampard is living off the past. There is no world in which he should be starting or a side with Chelsea's ambition. It will that team's biggest downfall, imo. He doesn't help Obi/Romeu protect the defenders and doesn't affect the game going forward from deep positions. Someone like Cabaye actually manages to fulfill both roles and does so on a third of the wages.

This game is incredibly odd. Chelsea probably deserve to win, but the decision is horrible. Strange that no one on Reading seemed to appeal at all.
-
Reading have offered nothing to this game at all. No defensive pressure, no attacking threat, nothing.
-
Mad from Ramires. Looked up at Torres standing on the six yard box and decided he wanted to curl it in.
-
Joseph Akpala to Werder Bremen.

Clubs like Spurs and Arsenal?

Stole it off Taiwo's boot. Very displeased. He's been rubbish, btw. He looks slightly off-form and unfit. Takes too long everytime. Both these sides would make noise in the group stage, btw. High amount of talent on the pitch.
-
This bloody commentator is too harsh on TNT, ffs. It's his first ever game with the team away to one of the best sides in Germany.
-
1-1 now. Both teams are decent. Nice game.
-
Didn't realise Kiev had Kranjcar and Veloso in the team as well. A number of well-known faces on that team.
-
Kiev starting both Taiwo and Ideye against Monchengladbach. Definitely supporting them to win the tie. With so many of our players in these hellish East European climes, we might as well send a few to compete in the Champions League.
-
He should be a very good replacement for Kone, anyway. Wish him well. Credit to Adebayor's agent, tbh. I don't see anything wrong with it other than City's sheer wastefulness, impatience, and incompetence. It won't become common practice because any football administrators with a brain would laugh at such a proposal. What other team would agree such a deal with a side that has plays in the same league and has potential to be a direct rival (don't forget they were in the title race for half of last season, wilder things have occurred in football)? Don't despair at football, laugh at its nouveau riche fools.
