I've just seen the Osaze Odemwingie sending off. Flashbacks to Guthrie on Fagan. Completely unprovoked assault. RM are actually playing their way out of the title race in September. Their season has been disastrous thus far.

It is amazing what a bit of pace can do to defenders.

He'd be a better villain if he was capable of more than 8 goals a season. Quite sure he done that every year of his career, tbf. Joe Allen offers very little. The game passes him by. He is fine on the ball, but doesn't exert much influence on the match.

Is Danny Rose at Sunderland on loan or a full transfer? He's a decent player, I'm surprised Spurs have let him go to another Premier League side.

I enjoy Suarez as much as any other current player. Fantastic villain.

Is the transfer window simply irrelevant at this point? Can he actually play? Good for him, anyway.

They've been poor as a whole, but Zlatan is tearing the league apart. Amazing player. Montpellier continued to be horrendous, lost tonight 3-1 to Stade de Reims. Continues the annoying trend of unfancied Ligue 1 sides making great runs to the top of the table, selling their best players, fading into obscurity, and embarrassing themselves in the Champions League. Quite annoying. We are finished! Hold on tight to those memories of Yekini, Amokachi, Amunike, Rufai, Jay Jay, Oliseh etc. That was it. Don't see us ever returning to those heights. Naija officials! May thunder strike them all down. Bastards. Can't believe you've put Rufai in that list. I never thought the man was good. Also, the game has changed to the point where players like Kanu and Okocha would struggle to make it. Honestly, from a pure talent of player standpoint, I really don't think we are too far from where we used to be. If our administration was even decent, none of this would be a problem, at least in terms of getting results in Africa. Honestly, even this rubbish homegrown team we've assembled is better than 80 percent of the continent. All this talk of talent is somewhat irrelevant, though, given that the last squad included ONE Premier League player and THREE from Warri Wolves. Keshi is a madman.

I watched the game live, when it happened there was an audible second of silence, as everyone processed what happened. The exact same feeling as the Chelsea goal. More confusion than anything. Imo, the guy has looked genuinely poor for us this season, but when he has the capability to do things like this he must be on the pitch.

Oi! Take a guess which federation of a massive, once proud football nation failed to procure a friendly for the FIFA date? Corrupt, incompetent fools.

Osman is good, but he's an aging, fairly unremarkable player who won't push England forward or be part of any tournament past 2014. It would be fantastic for his career if he received the call-up, as he deserves it, but in my view it would really be somewhat pointless. He'll never be an important player for your national team. In many ways he suffered from late development. He didnt really make a name for himself until he was 24-26, and by this time no one cares about you.

Mediocre? Our first opponent qualified for the Champions League by all rights, and our second won the Champions League and then invested 100 million or so pounds to a squad that was already talented. Villa aren't a great side, yeah, and that is match we should be winning, but they put up a credible performances under pressure from all sides, and we never got started. If most people had gotten the transfer window they desired, we would have exchanged Simpson for someone of higher quality and brought in a striker/wing forward. The injury problems are just unfortunate, and would have always affected us badly. This Everton that are meant to "bum" us lost to West Bromwich in their last match, which is essentially equivalent to our result as it was away.
-
Just like Tiote, I can't think of any team that values him to the point that they will match Everton's valuation, which will inevitably be very high. I don't think he will be as important to a higher quality team as he is at Everton. If you put him in the midfields of Chelsea, Real Madrid, etc, he'll look like a good player, but not one worth 30 million pounds.

That is brilliant from Cisse. Brilliant reactive finish, but typically poor from Barry. Cote D'Ivoire are in trouble now

Massive goal for Senegal. Away goals in Abidjan are not easy to come by. Important result to take back to Senegal if they can keep it 1-0 or 1-1. Was N'Doye, whom we've been linked with before. Cisse chested it down.

US Soccer featuring Canada Occasionally I guess.

Given it is the US, you'd think the one thing they wouldn't lack is pure pace and strength, but the side is definitely very pedestrian when you watch them. Not that I'm a regular viewer, but Jamaica ran circles around them in midfield. -

What is the situation with this Gyau, anyway? I've heard decent Americans raving about the guy, but from my own research, he is twenty in a week and doesn't have a first team appearance in his career. -
From what I can tell, the game will be streaming live on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/africacupofnations It should be a good match, if anyone would like to watch. It is a good initiative by CAF, but it seems just to be the one match. Easy access to Nigeria-Liberia, Zambia-Uganda, Libya-Algeria, etc. would be great. It's funny seeing Egypt as well. They won the whole tournament in 06, 08, and 10, but didn't qualify for 2012 and haven't made the final round of qualification for 2013. It is mad what a minor revolution can do to your football.
