No matter the allegiance of a British football commentator, all of them have some bizarre crusade against zonal marking. Every single one.

You can say what you'd like about Sunderland, but they have a very talented team and a decent amount of quality about the pitch. There really is no justification for them playing such atrocious football. There style isn't even counter-attacking, they just play scared football.

I agree, we need him here, but this is more because of our deficiency than anything else. As a player, I think it would very beneficial for him to just start every single week as a professional against other professionals. He's never had the opportunity to do this at any point in his career. Even this season, I think he'll consistently be on the bench and will be involved more than before, but I don't really see him becoming a starter, as much as the supporters will want it.

I just hope this boy is more Gareth Bale than Seamus Coleman. The latter never developed his defensive skills to the point that he could be a fullback, but also has struggled a bit attacking as a forward wide player. Still a decent player, but could have done more. I don't think there is a question of him making it as a pro. I personally think he could still do with some seasoning while on loan, but it might be too late for that now.

The proposal in the OP is fine I suppose, but I really don't think there is really a need to change football in that way. I've never really had too much of an issue with the way time is kept in the sport. If teams are time-wasting, the referee shouldn't hesitate in booking them or giving the other team a free-kick. Frankly, the running clock and the spontaneity of the referee's whistle are some of the things I enjoy about football. I'd miss players walking the long way off the pitch when being substituted and taking an age over free kicks in stoppage time just as I'd miss players sprinting to get balls that have gone out of play, handbags over getting the ball back after a late equaliser and ball boys quickly retrieving the ball by any means necessary. It is just a small part of a sport that I enjoy. I am familiar with it and I like it.

Rubbish from Rodwell, but Reus was lightning there. Beat the defender and was in on goal in a flash.

Such a rubbish statement. People always make these declarations after hearing Dappy's new single or something like that.

This match is hilarious.

It must be sickening to spend your formative years in London and end up as a QPR supporter. At least Millwall, Crystal Palace, and Brentford are interesting. Leading you child to support QPR is just reckless parenting.

It went through Cesar's hands. Directly through them.

There is no reason for the England manager to be at this match.

How do you spend all these millions and end up starting Clint Hill at fullback?

The Ligue 1 official youtube channel is going to greatly increase my enjoyment of this season. Freely available video of every major goal/incident at my fingertips. Well, that along with the inevitable return of OM to the summit in May, and the continued failures of Qatari FC. -

I'm not confident about this game at all. They've gone seventeen matches undefeated in all competitions. Really, all that has to be said is that they are a talented (certainly better than Reading or Norwich), organised side from a very competitive league, and if we don't come prepared to play/put out a side of young players and reserves they will defeat us. Looking at the match against, Brugge, it seems that they put out a side that was nearly full strength. The other two sides in the group are quite weak, imo, but we'll make progression hard on ourselves if we don't finish sides at SJP. -
Oscar is extremely talented, but he looks like and has the build of an a adolescent. I'm not sure he is physically ready to assert himself in the Premier League, yet.

Torres take so much time to do everything. Shoot the ball, man you may score sometimes.

I think Totti is top, top class but he strikes me as the sort, who would have ended up going to Chelsea for big money, struggled because of the style of football his team played and the incumbent players in his position, then left after two/three years with a reputation as a failure after he went back to starring in Italy.

Is the transfer window simply irrelevant at this point? Can he actually play? Good for him, anyway. He was released by Kazan, so Levante picked him on a free. Can't play in the EL but he's cleared for La Liga. Levante has built its success by being Home of the Second Chances, so maybe they can work their magic on him too. If he retains his pace it should fit well in Levante's counter style. Scored on what I assume was his debut. Seemed pretty good from the highlights I saw. Still very quick. The goal was just him rubbishing two defenders for pace and beating the keeper. Even did backflips .

It's an incredible start for the team. Consider that they sold Azpilicueta, M'bia, and Diarra (all starters last season) and replaced them with Joey Barton. The one revelation of the season has been Gignac. He had been so terrible he last few seasons here, that I would have happily given him away to anyone. The rejuvenation of his career has been astounding to witness.

Been impressed all season. Really think they're title contenders if they can keep their spine fit. They look a better than Chelsea to challenge at this moment in time anyway. Strongly disagree with this statement, tbh. Especially with the January window to follow. I think it will be a three way tilt with Arsenal clear of the rest of contenders for fourth. I'm not sure why people are so incredibly impressed with Arsenal. They just look like Arsenal to me. Wenger has done very well to maintain, but they still lack in depth and individual talent.

Gervinho had a 1 on 1 , but his first touch ended up 10-15yards in front of him in Hart's hands.

60uote author=Sewelly link=topic=92597.msg3943144#msg3943144 date=1348332911] Ligue 1 defences are poor. 7 in 5 for Zlatan now. He scored nearly 30 goals last season in Italy. I think he might just be a decent footballer.
