Ligue 1 has proven one of the most difficult leagues to score in over the past few years. It is not really an easy place to rack goals, like Holland. Not saying he'll be anything like these...but his record in France is better than Gyan's, Odemwingie's, Adebayor's etc.. who have all shone in the Premier League. Not always as simple as that as a barometer for how a player will do. Tbf, Gyan has produced the same output, Osaze played there four years ago (he's changed a lot since then), and Sheyi came over as a youngster.

Cissokho is generally talented, but he was rubbish last season. Extremely overrated player, who has never fully lived up to the potential shown at Porto. It would be a coup to get him here, but I would prefer Enrique, tbh.

Better than 3. Has youth and height at least. 3 looks like the worn down wife of a disgraced mafia leader. Neither are great, though.

Tackles are not the sign of a good defender. Most of the world's top defenders and defensive midfielders rarely leave their feet to actually make a tackle. Even someone like Colo isn't flying around tackling people all match.

He isn't one of the top three left backs in London.

I love replica tops and buy them myself, I'm not criticizing the idea of them - just the idea that it's ok to wear a replica jersey just like the players even though you don't play for the team (which in principle is a bit ridiculous really isn't it, I think so anyway, but as I said I love replica tops so no judgement here), but that by sticking a name and number on the back you're suddenly in a completely different ballpark for some reason, which to me seems quite petty. I've always thought putting a name and number implies some sort of hero worship of an individual player, which is a bit different to just expressing support of the team as a whole. I do think it's a bit weird when I see and overweight middle aged man with a name and number on the back, but I guess if you weren't allowed to love certain players then supporting football would be a lot more dull. I always receive the name and number on the back of the shirt. I am paying to wear what the players wear. The players have numbers on the back. Also, not everything I get is from the clubs I support, so it is good to clarify that you like the player.

I feel like we read this same story every other close season, and then there is a flurry of activity.

Robinho is a fantastic footballer. Maybe you will realise this when your knee recovers from that violent jerking motion.

Did that cross the line? No one here could tell.

This guy brings out the worst of everyone.

OM's supposed third kit is awful, imo. http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/marseille-third.jpg

Anyone over the moon with Gardner is either a supporter of a lower league club or lacking the mental capabilites to make decent, informed decisions. For a club with ambitions as high as Sunderland's supposedly are it is not really great business.

No thanks. Him and Tiote away during jan, sounds a plan. People serious overestimate the Nations Cup. The players are gone at most five weeks in a season that takes place over the course of ten months. Unlike injury, you also will have an entire year to come up for a contingency plan during this time. You shouldn't let it hinder the improvement of your squad.

His nationality is French, his blood and heritage are West African, it is his choice as to which should be represented. He is both of these things.

His entire family is Senegalese. He is Senegalese. He could be exiled from his country and move to Beijing, he will still be from Senegal.

Arsenal should target Tremoulinas if Clichy goes and they still have faith in Gibbs.

When you see Neymar going for 40 million pounds, you start to wonder if the Carroll fee is even that extraordinary in 2011.

Which youngster are you most excited about for the future?
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Vuckic and Ranger for me. Ranger is the same age as the others, but I've actually seen him be useful in senior matches, so I hold him above them for that reason. The description of Vuckic really excites me, because it is not something that this club has often produced. -
Half the people who watch Newcastle every week would not be able to describe them correctly.

And make the goals smaller so the flukey goals won't happen every. f***ing. game. due to the goalie being a midget. It's not particularly difficult to find a woman tall enough to play goal. My own sister is 6 feet tall, and Casillas is no more than 5 foot 10. It is more a question of skill than height. The game is not that bad, anyway. Nowhere as good as the men's but this is true for every single sort involving physical attributes. What are people expecting?

Yep, he's by no means an upgrade. But if I had to choose who I'd rather have in a team, it would Guthrie over Gibson any day. Why? Guthrie contributes absolutely nothing. He's a somewhat neat passer, but not to the point of being a player who is great at retaining the ball. This is the extent of his skill. There is little else.

IIRC, he wore out his welcome in MLS. DC tired of him and shifted him to some nondescript team, where it really didn't work out for him. It was more his youth-level performances that have salivated the mouths of European clubs.

Adu and Dos Santos are similar in that both looked like world beaters at this tournament, but have been failures in every way at club level. Was that the US' strongest team? The lack of anything upfront will hold them back if so. You only need to look at Uruguay to see how imperative top class strikers are in international tournament format.

He is 24/25 and has only had one strong season (where he did look very good) in his career. He was miserable early last season. Marseille would never admit how much of a mistake it was paying €16 million for him. Gignac pisses constantly on the rubbish that is considered as forward players at Newcastle United.
