  1. I really doubt this. It just makes very little sense.
  2. If they can afford Odemwingie, why haven't they spent any money this summer improving their horiffic squad?
  3. He's just gained hair. It makes you appear smaller.
  4. 39 isn't really THAT old for athletics. If you have great diet and fitness it is definitely not out of the question.
  5. I will echo the sentiment that Brek Shea looks a player. I enjoy him. Still cannot believe the Mexican commentator on ESPN simply left with ten minutes. I missed his intelligent contributions such as "Mexico have the ball......this bad for US"
  6. Ricardo Clark is one of the worst players I've ever seen in a high level international match.
  7. Speaking of, do you have any opinion on Chuks Aneke. He decided to be a Nigerian a few months back. Anything, I should look forward to? Cameroon and Morocco both have some serious work to do before they are at the ACN, btw. As do Nigeria and some other high profile sides. The pain may be lessened on Europe.
  8. How the hell did he manage to get a WP? Typical favouring of the big sides, 'special talent dispensation' I imagine. Mikel Obi got one after 5 or so appearances in Norway. That set the precedent. If you are a powerful club, the work permit system won't affect you in any way. It is a stupid system, anyway.
  9. Anzhi just paid 13 million for Zhirkov. Paylyuchenko is better and plays a more marquee position.
  10. Don't think Long is the striker they need. The lack of a target man in their team was glaring at times, imo. Weren't they supposed to be seeling Mulumbu as well? Seems that disappeared. I remember him to Fiorentina (?) being a done deal. I think they will stay up with relative ease again, though. Agree. Can Odemwingie play wide? Yes, he can definitely be effective as a wing forward in a 4-3-3, but he would fail as a traditional English wide player in 4-4-2. He's almost always played wing forward for Nigeria, I would actually say it is his natural position.

  12. I really enjoy the random anger generated in the football section.
  13. People take this place too seriously. It is a forum to talk nonsense about NUFC and other irrelevant things that we find interest in. It's hardly a social club or something that should really be a massive part of your life.
  14. We are actually the youngest side in the tournament. (officially) The knockout stages of this tournament will very interesting. Most of the top teams are here and some very decent football is being played.
  15. Seriously, Musa is a baller. We must have the guy. What is Graham Carr's number?

    Joey Barton

Hard to be productive when the season hasn't even started yet. Clearly I am referring to his production and actions in the first four years he spent at this club. Your objection to my comment is quite stupid. He was our best player last season He provided us with literally nothing for three years while being paid an extremely high amount every single week. He should be ashamed to act like the club owes him anything.

I honestly don't want Barton back at this point. Too much wahala. Too little production.
  19. Suswam (left back from Setubal) just smashed in a brilliant shot from 30 or so yards. Brilliant strike. Taiwo should watch his back.
  20. Impressive from our u-20 squad thus far. 1-0 over Croatia. Not just physicality. Like the 2005 team (Mikel, Taiwo, etc) very impressive composure and ball control. Kayode and Musa look like very good prospects. Musa has a lot of potential for a top career, imo. Skillful and so very quick, if a bit lightweight. Really has star potential.
  21. Ashley signed off on all of the contracts you mention. It's not an excuse. Like buying us, the contracts are a mistake he should live with and make the best of. He can't expect them to take f***ing wage cuts when wages in the game are still rising everywhere else. It's not like Colo, Jose, Nolan or Barton got any worse since we first signed them, if anything they are/were at their most valuable at the end of this season. You should evaluate what they accomplished throughout the whole of the contract. Some players just have single good seasons while others tend to perform best in "contract years". Nolan and Colo may have earned with 2 good years of service, but I certainly would not extend the same courtesy to Barton.

I was dying of laughter when I heard McKay talking about Champions League clubs being interested yesterday. How he was being "inundated with interest". He's a disruptive player nearing thirty who has performed acceptably in 25% of his seasons and clearly wants high wages.
  23. i bet we don't. You may hate the people running the club, but do legitimately think they will happily enter the season without any leftback at all? This seems absurd.
  24. Imo, both are better players, and they still would not generally expect such a high goal return in an average season.

I was listening until McKay told me Champions League clubs were after Barton. I just assumed the rest would also be lies.
