  1. Pure striker's movement from Wissa as well, but the Midas touch has completely abandoned him. That is buried last season.
  2. How many starting keepers in the league this season have been worse than Pope? It cannot be many.
  3. West Ham are six points behind Newcastle (I suppose 7 with GD) and have a match against them. There is no world is which we are safe from finishing above this team. This is a relegation fight if we lose today; without question.
  4. Chelsea have the most bizarre strategy of any club I have ever seen under this new ownership. They have spent billions of pounds with the end result being entirely unproven and inexperienced player managed by an inexperienced, unproven manager. They seem to have no plan as to how this is actually meant to lead to success outside of the resale value.
  5. I am in two minds at this point. Previous glory means he probably ought to survive this. He also deserves a real transfer window instead of this rubbish the club pulled last close season. Selling the best player and using those funds to buy midtable fodder and unproven players; an error that halted all of the club's positive momentum. However, in reality, if this level of form and performance continues even a month into next season with no Europe, he will have to be removed. There won't be any question at that point. If he is sacked during the season, options for a new manager will be limited and said manager won't be able to bring new players in. There is a side of me that thinks it would be more prudent to thank Mr. Howe for his services, release a glowing statement, and move on once the season ends.
  6. Thankful for Spurs providing entertainment for the second half of this season. Otherwise, the league is boring and Newcastle is absolutely miserable. Nothing enjoyable about this team at all right now.
  7. I am all for a 64 team World Cup and 32 team Euro and AFCON. Tournaments in multiples of 12 have a far worse design than those in multiples of 8 and are less entertaining.
  8. So Sweden's previous poor results meant that they were put in "League C" rather than facing serious competition in this irrelevant Nations League abomination and their reward for beating Azerbaijan and Estonia is their atrocious WC qualifying record being ignored so they can begranted one neutral site match and one home match with a direct path to the World Cup? Whoever devised UEFA's system of qualification should be flogged, lashed, and jailed.
  9. This second half has been disgraceful and Howe is the one to answer for it. This is entirely an mentality issue and has occurred several times this season. It is not good enough for midtable rabble, never mind a side with lofty goals like this one.
  10. The defending in this match is laughable First team to be organised for more than five minutes will likely win.
  11. I am confident we will score again, but it is hard to see us limiting Barca to less than four goals. This is not how you defend at the Nou Camp. Way below the level needed.
  12. I also was worried about the offside, so I understand, but Elanga celebrated like he played at Barcelona for five years. Game on!
  13. Elanga is the key to this match. There is no chance we are keeping Barca from scoring away, imo, but with his pace and their high line, will enough space to cover the entirety of Gervinho's forehead. If he has composure and and end product, there will be many chances.
  14. I want people to understand. WAFCON, the premier women's tournament, was just postponed because Morocco threw a fit. A way of putting pressure on the federation. This is the same CAF, under Motsepe, that has moved to every four years solely to suit its European masters. It is no longer fit for purpose.
  15. I am 100% serious in saying that Sub-Saharan nations should remove themselves from CAF and start our own federation if they try to go ahead with this nonsense after trying to rig the Final.
  16. If he was from the academy, or signed for cheap, or 21 instead of trluening 24 next month, I'd be extremely encouraged. As things stand, I'm pleased he's shown how he can be useful, but it's still a horrible allocation of transfer funds. He'll continue to be important in these kinds of matches, especially in he can refine his end product in any way.
  17. Just idiotic defending by Thiaw, tbh. Barcelona don't deserve it at all.
  18. First decent cross of the game and it's a goal. This defence is there for the taking, we need to get a second to take to Spain!!
  19. It's disgraceful that we spent 100+ million on strikers and cannot bring one on in this situation.
  20. You also are not allowed to violate the keeper's human rights in this competition, tbf. Ref in Galatasaray match was preventing anyone going near him.
  21. Osula and Rlanga are going to get in behind 100 times with the way Barcelona are playing and their pace. The question is whether they can make any of these chances count.
  22. Other than the stature of the name "Tottenham", there is not really much difference between this team and the Leicester team that went down in 22-23 in terms of talent and the composition of the squad. Both profoundly lacking desire and defensive organisation with no steel at the heart of the team.
  23. That is a goal Gareth Bale would have scored 10-15 years ago. With his weaker foot!! Incredible. I'd long ago given up on this boy being a serious player for this club, but happy for this young Edo boy to serve me humble pie. The effort, desire and athleticism to even reach that ball is genuinely outstanding.
