Chelsea not banned from signing players for next 2 windows.
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to cp40's topic in Football
The right decision was made. Enforce the rules for everyone or don't enforce them at all. Same as with that nonsensical Eduardo diving ban. -
How about Arshavin? You look at him and wonder how his career might've went if he transfers to Arsenal at 18-21 instead of when he did. Amazing that 99% of football fans didn't know of him until less than 2 years ago.
-
The likes of Barton, Martins, and Chopra have far too much career left to say they've wasted it.
-
I've seen you put Oba in the OP. First rule of black hair is that when we get perms it makes the hair straight. Prime example of an African perm would be Drogba.
-
Good, solid player. Not Barca quality but is an all-round midfielder with a real will. Scored a pretty crucial own goal for Montpellier at the weekend, though.
-
Duff has played 20 games this season, and he was one of our lesser players.
-
They are no better than we were last season. They aren't in a state a chaos as we were. Talent-wise, they are inferior though.

I have Leeds in my heart. Especially as we're down, now. It gives you perspective. I hope they are playing us in the Premiership very soon. Not to mention they also employed Tony Yeboah, one of my favorites when I was young and a Ghanaian I couldn't help but like.

Anyone else still unhappy that Shearer isn't our Manager?
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to QBG's topic in Football
Shearer was a brilliant player and is a good man. However, there has never been ANY indication that he is even a decent manager. Pele wasn't a manager and Maradona isn't a good one thus far. These players are both superior to Shearer. I'm unhappy that we don't have a high quality manager right now, but I have no problem with a person with no experience not being given the job. -
Antoine Sibierski's Daughter Found Hanged
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to ChrisMcQuillan's topic in Football
Wow. 18? He would have had her very young, then. It really is pity that another beautiful young life has been wasted. You just wonder what could have driven her to this. Condolences to the family. -
For all this ludicrous talk of "black power", not one person of African descent won a weightlifting medal in the last Olympics.

I don't believe in gambling. However my tip would be to place money on Portsmouth to stay up. This will happen.
-
He's a decent player. I don't dispute that. Just not a great goalscorer. He never has been, either. It would be a mistake to sign him thinking he will score at a high rate.

Routledge. NUFC can now put out a balanced side for the first time this decade.
-
Benjani is rubbish. Hasn't managed to consistently score goals in Switzerland, France, or England. Wouldn't do it in the Championship either.

Matches like this are why the Premiership is the best league in the world.

Seems as though these Egyptians always fail to settle in Europe. Will be interesting to see if this one can break the trend.
-
This works out very well for everyone if Sapara goes and has a nice World Cup. Teams in Europe will ask the same question you are. "Why is the player playing in Turkey?" Then the Ankara club will mug some club into paying alot for him and Marek will finally have his big move.

Swapping Keane for Gudjohnsen?? Ambitious.

Mears would be a good signing for them if they actually do get him, anyway. Seemed quite decent when he played for us last year, which was rare tbf.

Madness!!! (Togo banned from next two Africa Cups of Nations)
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to Thespence's topic in Football
It's a very interesting decision. If one is going strictly by the rules, then Togo ought to be banned because it was the government who went against the FA and pulled them out. The precedent was set in 1996 with Nigeria. We pulled out of 1996 over "safety fears" (Was bulls*** politics from Abacha in all honesty) and were banned from 1998. The penalty is too harsh, though. There are extenuationg circumstances here, and Togo should only be fined for inconveniencing the tournament. I don't understand why their ban is harsher than Nigeria's when they had a rather legitimate reason for leaving. -
We can get loans in after monday, moron. Well that's ok then. Who gives a s*** that we've dropped points again. Regardless of of bringing in a striker or not, we should have won today. The two are not correlated.
-
Serious, man? The window isn't over yet, first off. All indications are that we are interested in bringing in another players and our top target was snapped up by a Premiership side. Even if we don't sign a striker it hasn't been a failure.

Wigan have a better squad and manager than we do. It's not surprising that we've missed him. However, it is cklear we still have a bit of money to spend and hopefully Ashley/Hughton/Derek can get another decent player in with that.
