no way sendings off or penalties should be reviewable, Shak. Would be equivalent of making holding penalty reviewable in NFL. These are judgement calls.
-
Think the challenge system works very well in the NFL personally. American football is already a slow, slow sport and it seems like every challenge takes at least five or six minutes. Half the time they conference for five minutes than realise that the play was actually not reviewable in the first place. Not to mention, that they still get it wrong half the time.
-
Challenges are absolutely rubbish in the NfL, and I'm convinced they'd be terrible in football.
-
Why would it need to be stopped all the time? How many times do they use the video in rugby? In rugby league it's all the f***ing time. We would end up having football games that take as long as American Football games with all the whinging foreigners and Man U players questioning every blooming decision that went their way.

Lack of intelligence+poor background=inability to manage money. Seen this story play out a million times before. The guys still young and on a rather lucrative contract, so he'll be alright (unlike Mr. Djemba Djemba), but he ought to take the opportunity to grow up a bit and learn to manage life.

The whole idea of Henry being a "cheater" is ludicrous, imo. Henry and people who dive, etc. or no more cheaters than players who commit illegal tackles or get caught offside. They have done something that violates the rule of football, and it is up to the referee to make the decision and see that their team is penalised for their actions. I am with Henry on this. Ask the referee.

What? Lomana? There is absolutely no chance of this happening. The guy's of in Qatar or somewhere these days and barely even shows up for Congo anymore. His career is pretty much done.

Shola wants to go to the World Cup... for Nigeria
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to nufcmichael's topic in Football
In my opinion, any of Cameroon, Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire, and Ghana can go far in this tourney. This is easily the strongest contingent Africa has sent to the World Cup, and with added incentive of it actually being in Africa, things will be interesting. The Ivorians are the strongest at the moment, but things change quickly in Africa. I will say that Africa will have more than one team in the knockout stages this time, for sure. It would be a massive disappointment if not. Nations Cup will be interesting, but last time Ghana were terrible in that but still showed well at the WC. -

One of my favorite matches ever, man. Oliseh's thunderstriker was one of the defining moments of childhood. The '98 team was so good. I remember we came out so strong , and everyone was talking about Nigeria playing Brasil in the quarters. But, typical Naija style, we ended up getting crushed by Denmark in the second round. good memories, though. That Spain team was class too, though. -

You can't say there blessed then just list a string of donkeys man. Pretty sure Yakubu has a better record in England than anyone England will be taking. -
Hiddink for Nigeria.....he hasn't done Africa, yet. He seems to only do these national sides for big $$$$ though. Oil.

Shola wants to go to the World Cup... for Nigeria

Shola ffs. Nothing would surprise me after the Kayode Odejayi debacle, but the man really has no place in the squad. I would rather a young up and comer than Shola, and aging failure. If any English player converts to Nigeria for the World Cup it will be Nedum Onuoha of Man City. Also, Dennis Aogo of Hamburg. Yes, he still plays for us. Is captain as well. He is actually very, very useful as a substitute on the African continent. However, he really has no place on the pitch against European or even top African sides. Will be interesting to see how that develops -
That's just the North African way of playing football. Take the lead and immediately begin time wasting. Still, they came out much better at the start and were the only team playing for much of the first half. In the second, you would expect Egypt to have been peppering the Algerian goal and putting on real pressure, but I can't really remember them creating much of anything. Seemed they didn't want it as much.
-
Have to say, Egypt were absolutely awful. You'd think they would have the psychological advantage after the events on Saturday, but Algeria looked to hungrier more dangerous team throughout.
-
Annoyed? Why? Egypt are one of the most despicable teams in the World. SA 2010 will be much better without them there.
-
Brilliant. Take that, Egypt!
-
This game is mental. You wouldn't expect anything else. North African teams are EASILY the dirtiest in the world. Hope Ukraine win, keep the girl happy.
-
It's more comfortable!

Andy O'Brien. My favorite is Paul Robinson at Blackburn. He was appealing with his hand up in the air as the ball slowly rolled past him into the goal.
-
They're battling for it, but Lloris does have it right now. Funny thing is the Marseille-Lyon match last week was built up as a battle between the two for the place between the sticks for France, and it ended 5-5.

I hate during international tournaments when they pan the crowd, no matter what the situation, people will see they are on camera and mug for the televison. Every tournament when a team is about to get knocked out, they scan the fans and people go from crying to jumping around and smiling when the camera hits them. As a player, I hate strikers who get away with cheap kicks and shirt pulls against us defenders. If a defender was to do the same things, if we undoubtedly be a freekick.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=699986&sec=europe&cc=5901 Atletico fined 150 Euros for crowd violence against Madrid. Spanish authorities are a joke. Like those ridiculous fines they issue for racially abusing fans.

I understand there are qualifiers, but why do England and Brazil need to play? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the Brazilian FA Players need to get as many runs out as they possibly can. Players need to have cohesion and all that. No team should ever been inactive during a FIFA-designated international date.
