  1. if owen had been in contract, there would of been no-1 interested in him What a s**** statement that is, how exactly do you know that huh? I guess you have the phone numbers of every single manager out there and have personally asked them. Deary me. Think Man Ure would have paid £8mill for Owen? Hull would have, for starters. That's why Michael Owen will be playing for the English champions and Martins has gone to Germany. No club would have played 9 million for Owen because its just a poor investment based on these last four years. Not even United. They have only signed him on an arrogant risk. I think both Oba and Michael will do significantly better than they did here, but I think Owen's United career will be short.
  2. Bocanegra plays for Rennes these days and he's always looked serviceable and solid to me. Nothing speical however, and I'm not sure I'd want the boy in the big matches against the top players.
  3. That kid scored again? Looked decent whenever I've seen him. Wonder if he'll cut it in Ligue 1.
  4. This mun2 stuff isn't working for me anyway. Guess I'll not be watching it then. Will catch the review later. Honestly I'm just amazed that this is not being televised in English. It's stunning. I mean, I dealt with this kind of stuff all the time in Nigeria, but this is America, the country where every event that could possibly be televised is probaly on right now, and this gets passed over.
  5. Wait a second? It's not on ESPN? I just got back from the city and they are showing some kind of preview show. I figured I'd watch the first 20 minutes at least.
  6. Cattermole's hardly s*** tbf. He's not good or anything though. Just an average centre midfielder with a bit of a mean streak. Signing Cana and Cattermole just seems redundant to me also. The would have been better off getting someone to play a bit of football.
  7. Anyone seen l'OM's new third kit? http://footballfashion.wordpress.com/2009/08/07/olympique-marseille-200910-adidas-third-kit-jersey-maillot/ We always get wierd/experimental kits, but this one is amazing. The team wore it for the first match against Grenoble, and I thought it looked real nice in action. Supposedly based on Ninja culture. Definitely will try to get my hands on it.
  8. I'd rather just bite the cost and pay for lettering/number than get that extenisve illustration.
  9. First off the only money we had that window had to go to a striker as Ameobi was our only fit one. Secondly as fas as the signings go: Martins was pretty good. Duff for 5 mill isnt bad either. Rossi you say is a bad signing and then say he was "blatantly a better bet than everyone else." Sibierski did very well for a free signing. And bernard is the odd one out who was a free signing on a low 1 yr deal. For only having 15 mill and needing to buy a new top striker with it I think he did pretty well. One could say he had considerably less than that considering the departures. It would be like saying Ashley gave the team 15 million this year.
  10. Thanks to Roeder. I thank Given, Martins and Dyer for keeping us up that year. Roeder's biggest signing? It is nonsensical to think that squad was Roeder's fault. He was here for two windows and spent a net of about 6 million pounds. The majority of his transfers were free signings/ random risks. The mass injuries to the sqad didn't help, and his owner did not put him in position to succeed.
  11. Roeder's squad in 2006-2007 was the worst Newcastle have had in the Premiership era, yet we survived. Martins and Duff were decent signings as well. (comparatively at least. Martins was our best player for significant stretches and Duff, despite his faults, was usually available and usually contributed.) Full respect to Roeder.
  12. My main interest in the Premiership is that Chelsea wins the title this year (anyone other than Man U will do), and that Hull, Sunderland, and Burnley are relegated. Also may keep tabs on Wolves as they are my grandfather's team.
  13. This is nonsense. You think Brazil's awful league is better than Bundesliga and Ligue 1?! The only thing better is the natural talent, most of which is playing in Germany, France, Spain, etc. by age 18-20. Bundesliga consistently has the most goals and good football is usually played. Anyway, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga kicked off yesterday. l'OM handled Grenoble with relative without ease without playing Lucho, M'bia, etc. and using the Burkinabe as a makeshift right back. Still, good match to start the season. Not scared of Lyon or PSG, but Bordeaux continue to look good. Wolfsburg picked up from last year and beat Stuttgart (Oba didn't debut yet). Hoffenheim drawed against Bayern. I think Hoffenheim will be in the upper reaches of the table come May.
  14. I honestly cannot believe we have a match tomorrow. May as well get ready for what will be an insane 9 months or so. Honestly, can't believe that holidays are coming to an end. Went too fast this year.
  15. Bundeslifa starts tonight btw. Wolfsburg v. Stuttgart. Would like to see how Oba and Karim fair now that they've left my teams and gone to Wolfsburg.
  16. This new system is ridiculous. Sporting are playing Fiorentina as well. Interesting how they want more actual champions in the draw though.
  17. Really? I thought he stood up quite alot last season.
  18. Perfectly explained, what a f***ing sucker punch But Hawking's at least got a brain. What's Hull got? Aids. The best tanning machines available, enough heat to grow his mangoes in. Phil Brown resents these tanning accusations! http://m.gmgrd.co.uk/res/827.$plit/C_71_article_1078377_image_list_image_list_item_0_image.jpg
  19. You mean thanks for being one of our best players last season? There's a space between Au and revoir btw Best player in a relegated bunch of gutless mice? Great. I was all happy for him to go, as with any player that wants off, but when you refuse to travel to friendlies thus out right refusing to play for a club and thus its fans, fans that have shown you nothing but support, I get a bit pissed off. But as is becoming more apparent these days, if a player wants out they just spit the dummy out refuse to play or put no effort in until they get that transfer. It's been like that for ages tbh, they hold all the power. It's only going to get worse the more money they 'earn' too. People should think about that when they say what Man City are doing is great for football. But that's why I get pissed off when people say "Aww I don't blame the players for leaving." And don't complain when they go on like Children, oh must be so hard in that mansion and Porsche Sir, just because you have good hand eye co-ordination and can kick a piece of leather well. It's not a game anymore. It's not a game. It's a trillion pound worldwide industry in which the players are little but pawns.
  20. No way could you go away to one of the best teams and line up like that it'll be suicide. That front six is just insanely attacking. Not to mention that there are thrww target men, two of which are playing on the wing. I think any Barton--Guthrie/Smith is a midfield partnership that can see us in the upper reaches of the Championship for sure.
  21. You mean thanks for being one of our best players last season? There's a space between Au and revoir btw
  22. Really, this just accelerates the situation. It will be decided sooner now. Big fan of Habib. He's been playing at my two favorite clubs for the last six years so I used to supporting him every season, and will definitely miss him when he goes.
  23. i'll believe it when i see it. west brom agree a fee for mattock..........this summer can hardly get any worse. I find it funny that West Brom signing random kids from League 1 is what is making this summer bad for you.
  24. Lovenkrands should be given a call. Looked like he enjoyed his time here and can't see him turning his nose up. Christian Bekamenga (powerful striker) of relegated Nantes might be worth an attempt as well. Chibuzor Okonkwo of Bayelsa United was a revelation at the 2008 Olympics and is set to move to Europe. Good player who can play both left or right back. Would probaly be gotten on the extreme cheap as well. Hopefully cheap moves like these would be accompanied by us spending money on established players in this division.
