Scored twice against champions Bordeaux. I'm not sure if he's scored since, but that was very very impressive.

Svensson admits he can understand why a number of clubs are taking a keen interest in Ofere. "It doesn't surprise me at all. He is hot at the moment," said Ofere. What? Actually, I was going to criticise the journalist, but now I see it's written in some random Scandanavian language. Probaly a mistranslation Some terrible news: U.S. striker Davies injured in car accident -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charlie Davies, a striker for the United States national soccer team, was involved in a one-car accident early Tuesday in suburban Washington, D.C., in which another person was killed, a U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman said. Davies was in surgery Tuesday afternoon at Washington Hospital Center and in stable condition, U.S. Soccer said in a statement. The extent of his injuries were unknown, but U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe said they were not life-threatening. Davies, who also plays for the French first-division club Sochaux, was expected to require more than 5 hours of surgery. The U.S. national team was in Washington to play a World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica on Wednesday. The team has already qualified for the 2010 World Cup. "Obviously, as a team we were saddened to learn this news," national team coach Bob Bradley said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlie and his family, as well as the people in the car and the families of the others involved. As a team, we are relying on each other in a moment that has for sure hit us all hard." The accident occured at about 3:15 a.m. ET Tuesday in the southbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia. The U.S. Park Police identified the person who died as Ashley J. Roberta, 22, of Phoenix, Md. U.S. Park Police Sgt. David Schlosser said there were three people in the car and that Roberta was not the driver. Davies and another passenger were taken to Washington Hospital Center, one by land and one by helicopter, Schlosser said. "The car was pretty much split in half," Schlosser said, according to The Washington Post. Davies and another passenger were taken to Washington Hospital Center, one by land and one by helicopter, Schlosser said. Born in Manchester, N.H., Davies played for Boston College before turning pro in 2006. Davies has four goals in 17 international appearances and started Saturday when the U.S. won 3-2 at Honduras to clinch its sixth straight World Cup berth. He was a member of last year's American Olympic team. The U.S. team had an optional breakfast at its hotel Tuesday, and officials were informed of the accident around 11 a.m., just as Davies' surgery was about to begin. Bradley gathered the players before lunch and informed them of the news. Davies' teammates were not made available for comment. "Obviously, the players are saddened by the situation and, obviously, hope the surgery goes well for Charlie and that he has a quick recovery," Buethe said. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. ------------- Hope he recovers. He really has starred for the US this summer and has done very well replacing Erding at Sochaux. Prayers are with him.

As much as I like Geremi, he's finished as a footballer and should be one of the last players were turn to. Is Kadar fit/trusted at this level.

The Swedish league is garbage. Success there really means nothing.

2 million?! That has to be some kind of joke. I understand he is a top scorer in Sweden, but so was Peter Ijeh, who was godawful. First of all there is no way in hell he gets a work permit. He 23 and has maybe 1 cap. I wouldn't mind us taking a risk on him, but for 2 million pounds, they can go screw themselves. It rubbish anyway.

You'd be surprised how fast the money dries up...especially for those who are from poor backgrounds and have to support others. You look at someone like Djemba-Djemba and how he ended up where he is today.

Not over the short distances. It is ridiculous for a man of that height to be able to accelerate in the way that he does, freak of nature/science that he is. Or (cough) applied science, do you not think? This is a tangent, but I think the recent success of all the Jamaicans is due to them catching up the US when it comes to steroids. I just hope we can catch up next. You'll be screwed though when the Yanks & Jamaicans also discover this anti-ageing drug. It's tiresome. And people wonder how footballers go bankrupt. He can't be on more than a few thousand pounds for week and he's riding around in a BMW and paid for custom plates.

Isn't "y" a vowel in this case? You could replace it with an "i" and have the same effect.

Foster is still only 28 (Actually..that is significantly older than I thought he was) and Capello probaly hopes that he has a future with the national team. edit: Apparently there is an acotr named Ben Foster who is 28....the keeper is only 26.
-
Only he's just 34 or 35 years old! How about Litmanen then? If there is one player in Finnish national team we would need it's Roman Eremenko...or Niklas Moisander but both of them are long term contracted. I'm sure Eremenko is dying to leave his Champions League club to come play in the Championship.

I apologise in advance if I am wrong but was the £300k not the loyalty bonus he wanted from Citeh? If may be classed as that, but City correctly in my eyes refused to pay it because as they said he chose to leave because a club had bid £5.5 million which triggered the release clause in his contract they did not at the time want to sell him. In the end it didn't effect City, Barton got the cash & NUFC ended up paying £5.8 million for player with release clause of £5.5million. Ah right. I don't think any football, even the best in the world justifies anything like the wages they get. I think most of the best players do tbf, it is the average s*** like Barton that is overpaid. How is anyone worth £100k a week? Its just obscene. It really isn't THAT much money in the scheme of things. You are trying to be funny right? Not really. Does anyone in the Premier League even make 10 million pounds per year? There are alot of people making alot more than that in this world, and most of them aren't busting their arse on a football pitch weekly and will be paid these salaries for more than 15 years. -

Mourinho seems like the riddle would be far too simple.

He was awesome for France in one of those tournaments, and has performed pretty damn well at all youth levels, just not yet at club levels really.

Said several times here that I don't support Sweden Agree with Chris P that Swedes are terrible winners. I know you don't, just general statement. England fan then? Aye How come? Why are you a Barca fan? Why are you a Denamrk fan? (I think that's the team in you avatar)

I don't think he would have been expected to play much this year. He couldn't get on the field last year for Bordeaux and wasn't exacty amazing out on loan. He's only 20 and SAF must see something in him. Was it Lorient he went on loan to? The club with the fish in it's badge. That would be Lorient, yeah. I don't know if he went there, tbh. I don't really remember seeing him. edit: Quick check tells me that's right. Also, tells me that he didn't do particularly well, either.

i agree, we just got a draw out of the world champions and he's saying it was a horrendous performance, fool You make it sound like you just played Italy of 2006, that team would have spanked you. I know it's been three years, but it's still very much the same players other than Totti and Materazzi. Even Cannavaro is just on suspension and Luca Toni is injured.

Has a good record considering he really isn't first choice.

That's called colonial mentality. It's still prevalent in africa, especially in those 40+...i.e. football administrators. You're point about Brazil is not valid, imo. This is a country which has the largest black population outside of Africa. That whole black blood contaminaing white blodd concept is in full effect, and I thinl you'll see that the country has never had a black president and has a shocking amount of black politicans. It's where the US was 50 or 60 years ago. Blacks are a very large part of society and culture, but they hold a very tiny amount of power.

Crazy to me how Camara and Van der Meyde are still without clubs. I'm very surpirsed Zenden been out there this long. He was pretty good for l'OM last year.
-
Don't worry we'll take care of that soon. Thanks for developing our youth player, btw I'd like it if Cesc went to Real Madrid, tbh.

Distance is nonsenical reason, considering how small UK is. Consider the trips from Marseille to Boulogne or from Moscow to Vladivostok. The reason this shouldn't happen is because it's a ridiculous and stupid idea, that Celtic and Rangers are only in for financial benefit.
