  1. Why would one assume that Shearer would get rid of our aging British players? Hmmmm ... yeah, just as likely Shearer keeps the experienced Brits around tbh. However, the difference is that he will not put up with crap performances from them and will definitely let them know if they are not doing the job Or he could play the experienced foreign s**** in Geremi, Cacraper, Viduka (chance would be a fine thing) or the biggest transfer flop of the season AKA Colo. He could. Doesn't have a choice really. We are the UN of vastly experienced players who play like s***. I'd just think Shearer would want to bring/keep British players to Newcastle. (Just a shame most of ours are old and s***) maybe he'll just pick what he considers to be the best bunch of players to do a given task regardless of age or nationality ? Naaa Shearer wont be interested in picking teams to win games, he will be checking passports for age & nationally. He has 8 games to send out the oldest British team he can. You'd hope he pick the best team yeah. I was referring more to the players he'd want to keep around/bring in the transfer market. (assuming the man stays long term) Lots of managers seem to sign players that come from similar background/language/footballing culture as them.

  3. This is NUFC. there's one thing about nufc, we never ever dull You must of missed the Souness years.

  5. Just starting to realise how ludicrous this sitaution is. We've appointed a beloved, young, high profile manager until the end of the season, while our hated, old, low-profile manager (who has a multiyear contract) recuperates in the hospital. Also, this new young manager supposedly hates, and has publically spoken out against the backroom staff of the club.
  6. football is 90% confidence and 10% ability That's a rubbish statement, just so you know.
  7. Has there even been any intimation that Shearer is the long term appointment? You'd think they'd just give him the reigns until May and make long term decisions after that.
  8. surely you can only judge his suitability long term on his short term performance. Well, yeah that's true. Basically what I am saying is that I don't think Shearer will make a good manager. But I am acknowledging that his status and what he means to the club could be vital this season, but that this effect will not last long term.
  9. Not a fan of him being our manager really. At least not in the long term. But, regardless, it should be a lift to the team/supporters this season and hopefully it contributes to us staying up (and Kinnear quietly leaving the club).
  10. The level of insanity that surrounds Newcastle United cannot be overstated.
  11. I'd definitely be on ths site more for reaction and all that nonsense. If we go down, I won't be able to watch every match and news about the club will be harder to come by. So I'll be more reliant on the forum tbh.
  12. What? Danny has been a starter this entire season when fit. That was before we signed Nolan. He was preferred to Butt before Joey's injury I believe.

  14. Four or five simple passes, overlapping runs, defensive miscues and a massive gap between the shooter and the nearest defender. Blasted low into the opposite corner. Is that really what happened? or are you just rewatching the Arsenal match? Meh...I think I'll watch this on ESPN 360 later.
  15. How did Salvador score? (watching the basketball)
  16. I don't think Titus would want to come back, he's only just gotten rid of his demons.
  17. I think we should play a 5-0-5. Just bypass the midfield of s***ness. Harper Beye Colo Bassong Taylor Enrique Owen Jonas Duff Loven Oba Yeah, it's impractical and probaly stupid. Several of those players are injured. But I don't care. I hate our midfield. It's damn near invisible anyway, so why don't we just bypass is.
  18. Well Isaac Asare and Nii Lamptey are Ghanians so I'm not too familiar with their careers, but I can tell you that Ogbehce was suspected of age cheating because he came out at such a young age and performed (Never was anything great though. That he played for the 2002 WC team was more an indictment of the poor management and general lack of talent that plagued the team more than Bart's real ability). After the WC, he really struggled to make an impact at PSG and ended up being shipped to the Middle East seemingly never to be seen again. However, as you say, he has managed to find his way out of the wilderness and back to a top flight team in Spain. I understand he is not first team regular, but he's been pretty good when I've seen him. So, I don't know what to think. In Nigeria he was written off as an age cheat because he disappeared, but those were only ever rumours. He's gone. Worst manager in the history of the National Team. I keep hearing European sources saying that he "couldn't come to grips with the trials and tribulations of African football." Bulls***! He can't cope with anything because he's absolutely s*** at his job. Manages Azerbaijan now. About his level. It's all good man. *I was going to insert a stereotyped Norway joke here, but then I realised I don't know a f***** thing about Norway and their stereotypes tbh.
  19. Just so know, France and Italy weren't the best two teams in 2006. I mean Argentina have been the "best team" in the last two WC and the farthest they've gone is the quarterfinals.
  20. N. Ireland v. Ireland and Israel v. Palestine are two matches I want to see (not attend) before I die.
  21. Geremi has been absolutely atrocious btw. I'm amazed he's still on the pitch.
  22. An Ireland-Scotland playoff for a place in the WC would be pretty fun to watch.
  23. Sudan equalises against Mali Togo lead Cameroon (Which is stunning since Togo are awful)
  24. If they want 2 million british pounds for a player who has no experience anywhere, then she go about our business and move our efforts elsewhere. That's an absolutely ridiculous fee.
