  1. The loan system is fantastic. Beneficial for the loaner and the loanee. Also, it usually means regular football for the player which is important. The only thing that is questionable is whether or not it should be allowed between teams in the same division /league.
  2. Our current squad would beat the s*** out of the Championship. The idea of Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins playing against Championship sides is frankly the stuff of wet dreams. We'd easily have one of the best defences as well. Some people on this forum are so ridiculously negative that it is just stupid and kind of takes the fun out of discussion. I mean I could have written cp40's post before he added it. "This current side would get destroyed. It is dire. Unless Keegan was manager, in which case we would amass 138 points with record goal difference."
  3. Didn't really think Bassong was that great last night. Still probaly the best centreback on the pitch.
  4. West Ham's team isn't vastly superior to ours in anyway.
  5. If Owen is fit, he will be a major help to us. Can score goals, and that's something we could always use. I hate him. If we are relying on Owen to keep us up then we will definitely be relegated. He's our top scorer at the moment and before tonight had scored about 1/3 of our league goals. I for one will be glad when he's back to be honest. He's also a want away who couldn't care less about what happens to this club as he'll be happily off in the summer. Started to be a complete passenger for a while before his injury. Obviously no longer gives a s***. I wouldn't drop Lovenkrands or Martins for him. Owen guarantees goals man. It's a shame there isn't a feasable way to incorperate the four of Jonas/Lovenkrands/Owen/Martins... we'd have a lot of pace to work with then. he certainly guarentees 1 goal in 8, if his record before injury is owt to go by And yet he's still our top scorer and has been for ages. hardly difficult when: a)he's our penalty taker b) we have one other premiership striker in the squad, who's been out for 3 months Like i said the other night ,If owen was fit we would have taken Bolton apart That's ridiculous by the way. Owen is good, but no striker would have done well vs. Bolton. We didn't have one moment of coherent attacking play throughout the entire match. We would have barely seen Owen if he played vs. Bolton. Owen wouldn't have torn them apart but he would've finished Martins' chances. Martins had one decent chance the entire match. I'm all for Michael back in the squad, but I think some are overestimating his effect just slightly.

  7. I'd take just about anyone over Bentley though.
  8. 7 points from the last 33 would make you f***ing daft also... Look at the other results/scores current.... to think we are safe. Are we f*** The point is that people, including you are saying were f***ed after playing Man United. What did you expect? Were far less f***ed from that match than we could have been. Exactly what I was getting at. It's not this game that's f***ed us, regardless of "how close" it may or may not have been, it's the spurned chances earlier in the season. No one expected any points from this game, and we got none, but all of the sudden now that's the worst possible result? Maybe people arent reacting to the result of OUR match. Theres other matches taking place which has put us in the sh.thouse if you lot were paying attention Are you this annoying in all aspects of your life or just on the internet? It's really up to us now. We have the players back we need to succeed, and with news of Guthrie and Owen coming back the state of the squad is looking up. If we play with the desire we did today, it will allow our forward going talent to save us. The loss hurts, but we can certainly move on from this point. If you find reality annoying that isnt really my issue is it. Im sure next you'll be spelling out to me that if Ameobi scores a hatrick every game we'll be safe. The problem being that what is being said isnt to likely. I'm not even disagreeing with your posts really. I just find your style of posting to be incredibly annoying, tbh.

  11. Chelsea - no Liverpool - no better than Kuyt Arsenal - no Liverpool would have him in a shot. Have you seen what they're forced to play out wide these days? Arsenal would certainly rather have him on the wing than Eboue, but he's not a Wenger style player so perhaps not. As for Chelsea, do you know who their manager is? Chelsea and Liverpool both have enough hard workers as it is and Arsenal are ravaged by injuries on the wing. He fits in great at Man U because the defence nevers focuses on him and he can assist in defending against threatening teams. He fills a certain niche, but its not a niche that every team plays with.
  12. I'm sorry, but no he would not.
  13. Oba, Lovenkrands, and Jonas must start the next match. All three were very dangerous tonight. Geremi is one of the classier players at this club, but his body just can't keep up at all. A few times today, he did well to anticipate the ball and be in the right position, but the opposition players just disposed of him like he wasn't there.
  14. Perfect scenario but out of every possible teams it's like impossible to see ManU being left scoreless against us. We keep conceding against Hull ffs! Would be a huge shame if Smith takes Ronaldo out of the game really. Just think which player is actually more fun to watch? And I don't mean the comedy value... I don't enjoy watching ronaldo at all. I've developed a strong dislike for him actually. I don't like seeing his face period. I mean I really do hate Man U, but I like players such as Rooney, Evra, Vidic (Actually those are the only ones). But Ronaldo is just not for me. Seeing him on the television triggers a negative response from my brain. It's involuntary I can't control it. But even still, it is a bit much hoping for injuries, and that was kind of harsh.
  15. NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 0 Goal: 69' O. Martins Red Card: 90+3' A. Smith Injury: 90+3' C. Ronaldo
  16. When I was 10 I know me and most of the people I knew took football pretty serious. We used to have big long matches after our classes were over and I know that if some lunatic was costing us by trying to be Pele infront our goal we'd have words with him. You don't always have to play serious football though. The most skillful players develop by just spending hours on end messing around with their friends. Expressing themselves however they please. This should not be done in a competitive setting though.
  17. While there are serious barriers preventing a club like Newcastle taking up 1st-5th position in the Premier League. There isn't all that much stopping us from being in 6th,7th, etc. Really it is about getting a decent manager and stability. Failure is inevitable when a club is in chaos, and that's what we've been in for a very good long while. For the last two seasons we have been saved by our most talented players picking up and performing for a short while. Ligue 1 is very much different than the Premier League in that there is not a monopoly on European places. Only Lyon have been able to consistently be at a CL level. However, the League table is looking the same this season. The first 8 clubs are are battling hard for positioning, but all the clubs underneath them in the table are in relegation concerns. This includes St. Etienne and Nancy who were in UEFA spots last year.
  18. What exactly have Toulouse done though? They were good two years ago, but finished like 17th last year. Now they are good again. They have some great talent, but I would not be surprised if some of these players left. Who knows they might be bad again next year. PSG are a big club. You are right they were a mess last year, but still they stayed up, won another trophy, got into Europe, and invested heavily. As long as they have their house in order, they will compete in Ligue 1. I think Lyon, PSG, Marseille, and Bordeaux have the potential to form an elite. A Metz! How insulting! We'd definitely be more of a Nantes if we went down.
  19. Our 5 million pound Spaniard is nursing a broken toe.
