Are you fucking kidding man? Did you watch either of those matches? Does it matter? The difference is one goal scored by them compared to us, our season was never going to be defined by the result away at Manchester City
-
I'm genuinely not quite sure what anyone was expecting here? Are Swansea shit because they lost 1-4 to Man Utd? No of course not. Judge the team after a few games not this one FFS.
-
We have actually not played badly at all, Taylor has been the worst player by far though, even without the (joke of a) red card.
-
Chamberlains future should be in central midfield, looks very good there.

1. Chelsea will win the league, quite comfortably in the end. 2. Roberto Martinez will finally be exposed for the terrible manager he is, sacked before the season is out. 3. Mark Hughes goes some way to rebuilding his reputation at Stoke, finishing top 10. 4. Gary Hooper makes the England 2014 world cup squad. 5. Pardew's Newcastle side also manage to finish in the top half, with HBA going to whole season un-injured and starring. 6. All three promoted sides will be relegated. 7. Southampton win a domestic cup. 8. Liverpool make the top 4, with or without Suarez. 9. Man Utd inflict a desperate January splurge on Everton to no avail. 10. Sunderland have a very boring but safe season.

Poo Yongo Bongo is the winner here. Genius

'This is terrible news for the club, I don't understand what is going on right the way down from the boardroom to the players and we are gravely concerned for the future'. 'Joe uses terrible tactics, is clearly a senile old fool and it's quite possible we will be relegated this season'. Yeah obviously he should have come out with the truth instead...

The fact we have sponsors paying to remove other sponsors is quite funny, not sure how Ashley keeps managing this.

Think i'll get annoyed reading this thread tonight. Not sure how anyone can argue that tactics, were within a whisker or working perfectly. Keep it tight for the first half, get the flair players on a bit later and have a real go at Benfica, while ensuring those players remain fresh for the arguably more important game on Sunday. Anyone who disagrees must simply have an anti Pardew agenda.
-
That isn't his role though, never has been. Even when we first signed him, he was always a 4-4-2 winger noted for his workrate and protection of his fullback.
-
Taylor has always done very well against the bigger strikers, he used to have his game of the season when given the chance to battle off with Drogba. Now if only he could get some injury luck.
-
His passing was well off yesterday, don't see how anyone could argue with that. His ball carrying on the other hand was classy. What a bargain.
-
Yeah, any team that attempts to bully us out of the game, we need his presence in midfield, Tiote was very very good at closing down tackles yesterday, which Anita simply isn't yet.
-
Annoying thing is he had a really good game up until the stupid penalty tackle.
-
What an awful game of football. Good result though

Getting sick of people singing the praises of managers such as Martinez, what has he achieved wit Wigan exactly, other than consistently producing shit defences?
-
With the way our defence looked rather shaky, I don't think going for it would have gone that well, against teams that move the ball like swansea, you need to be tight and compact as well as carrying the attacking threat.

Swansea were so fucking lucky, that's what annoys me
-
If he doesn't make that foul, Moore chests it down and releases it on the counter attack. Lesser of two evils that foul.

I remember one of Pardews quotes around December time saying he knew we lacked pace and power, and never really gave teams any threat of us countering them. Obviously with Gouffran and Sissoko that's changed, and that's what gives me hope for Pardew. He clearly recognises where the weaknesses are in the team and squad and knows the players he wants to fit. The biggest problem with our play earlier this season was that the whole team had no balance, none of the players really gelled or meshed together and that affected our play, it was turd. It looks like that's changed now, sure signs of that balance being there, more so when HBA gets back. Even Santon is going down the line, things must be looking up!

This has been so so impressive
-
Thought Cisse did quite well out wide compared to when he first played there. Kept the ball much better.
-
'cause they started the game without an orthodox striker didn't they? anyway i just meant they had a plan that was clearly worked on in training, played to their strengths and everyone was well drilled in it and knew what they should have been doing....granted we had that last year but it's easier to have a defined plan when that plan is defensively grounded as ours was Spurs plan is basically give it to Bale, and he was able to produce a couple of moments to beat us. The difference between us and Spurs that day was him and him only. Disagree with this - they were sharper and more mobile ALL over the field. They had done their homework on both Sissoko(doubly marked for much of the time)and Santon(kept back-pedalling by their quick breaks using Lennon and Walker. They deserved to win - they had slightly more possession than us and they were more dangerous up front with it. Our possession was largely in sideways and backwards passing across the back 4 and Krul and we lost it up front when it was humped up to Cisse. You can say this, but ultimately only one player caused us problems, just look at the shots he had compared with the rest of his team. I'm sure Lyon feel similar to how we felt after their result last night.

Surprising to see AC Milan on there, not that I can say I've watched them at all this season.
