Why rush into signing players? Thats panic buying and we'll get the players values inflated that way! We have 4 good players coming back from africa; beye, faye, geremi and martins plus joey barton and emre from suspension...thats 6 players all with premiership experience to hopefully get us enough points so why should we panic...waiting till the summer might not be a bad thing?

totally disagree....our main priortity aprt from a classy center back should be a creative goalscoring midfielder...someone who'l excite the crowd, create chances and score goals....but who the feck is that player because i can't think of any!! Any suggestions?

The main problem in my eyes is that we have no main world class central midfield player in which we can build our team around and i feel this is where the bulk of the money should be spent..someone like a fabregas/gerrard/lampard/scholes. Keegan must find this player as he done on his last stint bringing in Robert Lee/Beardsley. Not much out there that i can think of tho who could come in and be that central figure???

Since 1992..the season we won the old 1st division...i was 11 then!! I'm Welsh tho and live in South Wales but the Toon is and will always be my love!!

Please give it to King Kev...he loves the club and he has a bubbly personality which i think would rub off well with the players and we might be able to once again enjoy watching this football club.....he'll even get a second crack at sorting that defence out

i dont think anyone deserved a rating above 6 apart from maybe Taylor, Faye and Given. All im saying is that Butt played better than a 4!

Well we are still in the cup....just!!!! Smith is just awful in midfield, i thought Butt played well as did Faye and Taylor. We badly lack creativity and i hope Sam notices this! I think we should forget about the Man Utd game as it could be rather embarassing!

Would be an excellent buy...if we can bring in ben haim for £2mil too we'd be getting the right players with premiership experience who could replace our terrible centrebacks rosenhal and cacapa who havnt cut it at all!!!

WE MUST KEEP SAM!!! Its like any job it takes time!! Wait till he gets accustomed with the club and the players....making us hard to beat and a potential for winning cups etc, this may take up to 3-4 years but its got to be worth it for a 5 minute success in the league! I believe some of the players Sam brought in during the summer were not his first choice, example; the centre-back pairing of Cacapa & Rosenhal as he wanted Ben Haim and Distin but due to the timing of Sam being appointed he duly missed out! This proves that having been in the job for a lengthy period these type of proper signings could have been properly scouted, signed and sealed...not going to happen with managers coming every 6-12months!!!

So why is it all these managers have failed? The only two managers in recent years who have done a half decent job have been Keegan and Sir bobby...each have massive respect and legendry status within the club and the fans...why couldn't Shearer follow suit? Unless someone can think of a better option!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!! Im not saying we should get rid of SA, quite the opposite because changing managers every 6 moths isnt a good thing at all but im just saying a Shearer might get the feel good factor around the place again and im sure it wouldn’t take him long to pick the managers role up and if he dosnt then we’ll be back to square one..but we are used that aren’t we……….. Just an opinion!!

This club won't be happy till Alan Shearer is appointed manager!! Absolutely now point in employing foreign managers and the rest are just sub-standard! If only Sir Bobby was 20 years younger!!!!!!!!!!!

Dosn't come as a surprise as we've been poor in our last 2 games despite winning both! playing players out of position is NOT tthe way to go!! And will somebody please f**king sort our defence out...how many more seasons do we have to put up with sunday league defending!!!

Totally agree! I was a little dissapointed yesterday but you have to be realistic..ITS EARLY DAYS! and we look far more solid than many a season! I think Barton will be a massive player for us going forward! Using 3 defensive midfielders is great for away games but we need that attacking player like barton to open up teams in our home games, so just give it time and lets see what happens after 38 matches not 2!!

Smith you see will be a success at newcastle...we all love passionate, hard working players here and Smith is just that, granted he's not 'world class' but we are building a club back up here and Smith is the sort of player we need right now and for £6m is fairly cheap in todays market. As far as im concerned we are in a far greater position than we was 12 months ago! People are so negative on this thing....stop moaning and get behind the toon!!!!!!

If true about the capture of Barton and Viduka im over the moon....a massive gulf in class and improvemet over parker and Sibierski tbh! I expect Shag Given will now be club captain??

Great post!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive been saying it all season! Emre and Butt work very well and if you look at the games they have played together i can bet we've been hard to beat! Parker is a liability as far as im concerned!! Also Milnar and Dyer on wigns spot on!! must be our midfield 4 next season unless new faces are brought in!!

Don't know about you lot but Owen is my only glimer of hope next season and i cant wait to see him playing again!!! If we sold him we would no doubt sign a load of average tosh and struggle yet again!!! Just ask yourself the question...whats there to look forward to next season without M.Owen???? Yeah thats right F*CK ALL!!!!

No light at the end of the tunnel!!! We was doing okay when Butt and Emre was playing in middle but because of scott parker who i dont rate at all this won't happen. i don't believe martins is a good enough footballer to play on his own up front and dyer needs to be playing in midfield where he can pick the ball up early and make those runs from deep. I'm so fed up...how depressing...roll on the cricket season lol
