We're 5th in the league FFS. We are - they say you should never look back but home games against Wigan, Stoke, B'burn and B'pool have been and gone and we got 1 point out of them. Those are bread and butter fixtures. Most sides pull off some unexpected wins or draws during a season and we certainly have done that so far. The concern is whether we can continue to pull off those sort of results or will we find ourselves near the end of the season looking at the significance of the 11 points we've dropped in home matches to date. I've thought all along that we'd stay up and still do. On balance the points we have are about par for the fixtures we've had although the way we've got them certainly couldn't have been predicted.

Post of the year. How can you improve on that...... Anyone who puts up the "My problem is I can't always get a baby sitter" - just read that and f*ck off.

Pretty much agree with that. I'm pissed off with Barton for getting what looks like an inevitable ban when he's been playing well and creating goals. He's obviously got previous but most of it is off the pitch. I don't think by any means that he's an angel on the pitch but imo he's not a dirty player who is always looking to put one across an opposing player (and there are plenty of those). Although he's clearly in the wrong he's not even come close to decking Pedersen in this incident. He should get something for it and probably will. Footballers are highly competitive animals and it can and does spill over in the heat of a match - even the sainted Shearer had his dark moments.
-
Does make you wonder what if anything was said? Suspect there was something building up through the match. As Nolan and Ranger were about to kick off for the second half there were some very heated verbals taking place between them and Pedersen.
-
I'm hearing that Benjani is definitely not playing for them tonight - and the despicable c*nt, EH Diouf, is doubtful.

many would say derby (home and away) and portsmouth were worse. the point being we have a fair few to choose from as his legacy. Derby away was pretty bleak, god awful showing for the whole game and one of the coldest games i been to plus our bus nearly crashed coming home. Fulham away was shocking as well. We actually won 1-0 with a last minute penalty but it was like watching pub football after the players had spent the previous week in the pub.

Got 17 points from his first 9 matches, we were in 8th spot at that point. One month later we'd played 4 more matches and only got 1 more point, and been well and truly tonked off Pompey and L'pool.

It does actually make me want to hurt somebody. Who the f*** are these fans that 'want the big name manager we deserve' exactly. We all know they don't exist, so why print what is just blatant bullshit There are one or two on here actually, although they've gone a bit quiet recently..... But there's certainly no great anti Hughton feeling amongst the fanbase and journalists like Kay just print crap like that purely for something to say and based on some ridiculous stereotype that they hope exists. Most sensible journos know the true situation. Even Rod Liddle, who never normally misses an opportunity to stick the knife into us, wrote an article the other day saying that the fans had nothing whatsoever to do with the Hughton out rumours.
-
Clueless, why 'should' we have lost at home to Wigan? Because we got a late equaliser? Give me a break. Not many players are still around from Allardyce's time? Get a f***ing grip Mark. It is true enough though - Simpson, Colo, Willamson, Jonas, Nolan, Tiote, Guthrie, Routledge, Lovepants, Raylor are post Allardyce. Carroll was around but only marginally involved. When did Ranger join?

You can draw up a list of the ways in which MA could screw everything up from here. The Hughton issue and how it is handled is definitely on that list. It needs sorting so we can cross it off and start worrying about the next potential screw up, which has to be the January transfer window.

A beast and he's got the lot in terms of skills - plus he's a French speaking African who cost about £3m, Wenger is going to fire someone over this...

IIRC after Fat Sam arrived Babayaro had his contract paid up and was told to piss off.
-
Babayaro was a heartless b******. At least the rest wanted to be footballers the fuking coward. Harsh on Babayaro that. He was terrible for us, but I'll always respect him due to the fact that he played a game for us, just days after he had lost his brother. It was the only game he could be bothered to play FFS. After that and months before that we couldn't get him on to the pitch though happily accepting £35kpw.

There has to be a dodgy mobile vid of this. It'd be a stroke of PR genius to improve their image! I seem to remember it was actually Chris Mort who entered the boardroom at SJP coing the conga, Niall Quinn was in the room at the time and was well pissed off.....

If any of that stuff in Golfmag's post is true then MA is clearly as thick as shyte in a bucket - so point 3 has as much chance of being true as the rest of it. You've got to hope that this is some sort of crap invented by the media. But with MA's track record I, for one, don't feel at all sure that he has learned his lessons and won't throw us back into complete chaos yet again.

Hmm. Indeed. Page 3: http://www.football-league.co.uk/staticFiles/7e/54/0,,10794~152702,00.pdf Far and away the highest agent fee per transfer in the Championship last year, nearly 10% of the entire football league amount. As far as that agents fees table is concerned it is hardly surprising when you consider the players we bought were generally more expensive than those the other clubs were buying. Also looking at that table it appears to include both registrations and transfers (we are shown as having 7 transactions, did we buy 7 players following our relegation?) so the agents fees on deals like the sale of Duff, Beye and Bassong may well be included.
-
Despite all the seemingly sensible things that have happened since relegation I have this horrible fear that you are spot on with this.
-
We only want what's best for him

Irritates the f*ck out of me how Blackpool keep on picking up ridiculous points. I've just got to learn to live with the heady heights of the Premier League I suppose...
-
Those of us who couldn't be there witnessed Andy Gray on live tv saying the mackems were still in it at half time
-
Er, he'd been largely total horseshit prior to West Ham. He really hadn't. But anyway I am talking about ability and class, not a shyte showing here and there. Every player has a poor game or spell. Not comparing the two but is Rooney rubbish? He has looked it for several months. The only currently fit player in our squad that can pull off a pass that splits an opposition defence in half is Barton.
-
In pure football terms the best player we've got - anyone with a pair of eyes could see that. Some of the posts on this thread early doors this season BTW

Free-kick for the handball. Clattenburg couldn't give the handball, the time had long gone for that and the lineo had clearly bottled it. It shows that even under a decent ref the most horrendous decisions can be made, and if by some outside chance Martin Atkinson reads what I just said and interprets it as some sort of defence of him - just f*ck off you incompetent c*nt.
