Can't see why anyone would support the team that came from that shithole - unless of course the devil had farted in your face and you were unfortunate enough to come from that shithole. If that were the case you might, just might, have an excuse.....But honestly, on reflection, even then why would you? Not much in the sides tbh - Bent is way better than what we've got but we might just shade it on the rest of the pitch. It will be all about referee decisions, who gets the "momentum" etc etc etc.....

Unless I've missed something here it sounds like the injury to Cook wasn't too serious, surely if Carroll had intended to do real harm with the glass he could have?

What the c***ing s*** do you smoke? Nothing but the best....

As The Killers might say - were WH shyte or are we dancers?

A beast of a player - apart from what's been said above I love the way he still manages to keep the ball alive when it look likes we may lose it.

I just found out that Jose Enrique travelled to London with the squad so this story really sounds like a load of bs.
-
Of course it isn't but he's one of the few players we have who could get a spot in a better team than us and left back is not an easy place to fill, I still remember the pain of watching the likes of Huntington and Ramage trying to play there. We haven't got too much class to offer and our only unpredictable creative player (Ben Arfa) is already out - chip away at what few strengths we have and we're f*cked. No confirmation on this being true and hope to god it isn't.

I've not been following it too closely but I think H and G were trying to buy some time to find a buyer that would not leave them with a loss. They probably thought that RBS would bottle it due to concern about the negative publicity that calling in the debt and triggering of administration would bring to the bank. It was effectively brinkmanship by H and G, despicable creeps that they are.

Whether that bit in bold exists in the terms of his agreement with them will more than likely be the cause of the problem. Yes that will be the key to it. Last week Martin Broughton said: "Part of me taking on the role - and I was appointed by Tom and George - was that they gave a written undertaking that only I could change the board, they wrote that into the articles of the two companies Kop Football and Kop Holdings. They also gave a written undertaking to RBS that they would not frustrate any reasonable sale and this is frankly a flagrant abuse of those two written undertakings." Whether Hicks and Gillett still had the power to remove two directors is fairly easy to decide. Whether they gave a written undertaking not to frustrate a "reasonable sale" is also quite easy to decide. However what is not going to be so easy to decide is whether the deal with John Henry is a "reasonable sale".

Whoever loses will, no doubt, put in an appeal against the decision.

Newcastle United v Wigan Pre-Match Thread - 16/10/10, 3.00 PM

I wonder if Coloccini could play at right back. When he joined I seem to remember reading that he could play anywhere in the back 4 (as well as holding midfield). It would make for a decent back four with Williamson and Campbell (now he's fit) in the middle. -
Howay - these discussions are the very lifeblood of this forum ....

3 hours to get there, 2 hours at the hospital, 3 hours to get back = 8 hours.

I've got no worries at all about him coming back just as strong. He may not have the mental strength of Shearer, not that we know that he hasn't. What he has got is determination, he has shown that in the way that he went about getting his move here. I don't think he's the type to sit back and wait for something to happen. He’s broken his leg, the good thing is that nothing has been reported about ligament or tissue damage so it should be a straight forward recovery once the bones have healed. I've had a few broken bones and you soon forget about them once you get about your normal daily activities. I think we'll worry about his leg more than he does once he's plying again, he might think about it the first time he does things then that'll be the end of it. Like all of us I have no idea if he can get it all back again, there's examples of those that have and those that haven't but whichever he is it's not going to be easy. I love the guy and hope to Christ we see him again playing as well as ever in the black and white - but it's really far from a certainty (for a number of reasons) and I don't read too much character analysis into his determination to come to us in the first place tbh.
-
We can't forget - he scored a sensational match winning goal in a tough away match. You are talking about a legend.
-
Sadly an example of someone who was never again the same player. OK, he reinvented his game afterwards, but it took him a couple of seasons. Pretty sure that injury was worse then Ben Arfa's. Didn't Shearer also tear his ankle ligaments? Cliche time - but Shearer was a bit different. He was mentally as strong as anyone who ever played the game imo. I don't know how strong HBA is mentally but he is still a kid and if you get taken out like he was by a hitman like DeJong its not going to be an easy process to get your confidence back even if you make a full physical recovery.

Well lets dream of a world without it...but sadly wherever there is a "brand" and a "revenue stream" there will be a gathering of cun*ts trying to exploit it. Going back to some of the earlier posts - Wacko has posted some very balanced and sane stuff on here but my understanding is that Hicks and Gillett did effectively put the debt on the club's balance sheet (and therefore made it a club liability). I had thought that initially H and G had undertaken that the debt would never be "club" debt and iirc Rick Parry left or was made to leave because of his objections to the breaching of that promise. If I'm wrong please correct me - and that comment is a general one for anyone who knows anything about this, and not just aimed at Parky and Wacko.

I love the phrase "trousered" Always brings an image to mind of a man wedging loads of money into his front two pockets of his trousers. It also seems a highly appropriate word to use in conection with Ashley Taking into account the £929m cash " trousered" when Sports Direct floated and the fact that Ashley's stake in it now is worth more than £600m I would think the list's assessment of his wealth at £950m is a significant understatement.

The 1-4? Coloccini wasn't even playing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7065165.stm Hm. I think i got the wrong guy. Thanks for pointing that out. But again, my previous sentence where I said he was terrible before we got relegated remains the same. You do know who Coloccini is. Don't you? :colo: Easy mistake to make tbf - Cacapa and Coloccini are both Latin Americans....

Or the Anfield Asbos

You are going into some controversial territory there but yes what Sam bought in was not all bad. There were some problems though - the club could not afford the sort of wages his recruits were on, he could not make them play once his plan A had gone - and Geremi and Smith weren't replacements for Solano and Dyer.
-
I'm not slitting my wrists either, the only team that's really outplayed us is ManU but we are about 2 or 3 points away from where we could have been on merit (controversy alert - other than a few shyte spells, and most teams have those, I don't think we've been too crap this season). It's not easy keeping your spirits up after games like Sunday where imo we did a good job in a difficult place but got nothing other than a decent goal difference - but its situations like this where managers earn their corn.
-
Sorry if this has been discussed on here before - but that away kit Everton were wearing on Saturday. WTF is that about
-
They really will not go down. And its pissing me off that sides we are competing with to stay up (like Blackpool) are picking up seriously valuable points against them.

Yup.
