  1. Caicedo would be a very, very good pick up for Liverpool.
  2. He's only been with us for about 8 years, man Maybe it's repressed memories from the Ashley era but I can never remember Lascelles getting done for pace (well, at least nothing like we've seen Schar or Botman struggle with although they've been left a lot more exposed than previous systems). Usually mistakes from him have been related to lack of concentration or agility.
  3. I bet he bloody loved that banter! https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2021/05/04/surprise-nufc-start-clocked-the-4th-fastest-player-in-the-premier-league-this-season/ He definitely is our quickest CB and isn't a slouch once going.
  4. Not Maxi but Hayden > https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2020/02/28/isaac-hayden-reveals-shock-name-when-asked-for-nufcs-3-fastest-players-over-100m-watch-here/
  5. Think it's pretty fair to say Willock played as a weird CM-winger hybrid last season. I'm sure there's a football hipster term for it based on some German or Italian word.
  6. I remember an interview with Maxi where he said Lascelles is one of the quickest at the club. He's not got great acceleration but he does have a big, powerful running style.
  7. Found the analysis of Top 4 predictions this season to be absolutely shite, so far, even from the better ones. For me, the only clear outcome is Man City will definitely be top 4 and are very likely to win the league again. I think Arsenal will be top 4, likely second, but I actually think there'll be some regression from last year as their signings aren't a great fit (and if Saliba picks up another injury then they've got real problems). Man U were very dodgy at times last season and their signings so far don't suggest that much improvement. Liverpool still have a soft centre. Chelsea have the ability in their ranks and a good enough manager to do far better but I won't be that worried about them unless Caicedo signs. Spurs feel even more Spursy than ever... We could honestly finish anywhere between 2nd and 9th
  8. I think playing tougher matches at the beginning of the season is preferable if we're well prepared. It can be a better chance to catch teams off guard while sharpness/fitness aren't optimal and new players from other leagues aren't bedded in yet. I actually don't mind Lascelles for this either. Schar got absolutely rinsed by Watkins last season and the one thing Lascelles has over every CB at the club is some pace once he gets going.
  9. Paqueta isn't good enough for City. He's a good player but very streaky.
  10. Terrific read. He seems a very interesting character - even just from the BTS footage he seems to have a bit of edge behind that chilled exterior.
  11. With 2 young Brexiteers through the door in succession, it's time for Eddie to dip back into the international market.
  12. Tony Gordon will be a bit of an early Bellamy for us this season. Run like a fiend, rile up the opposition, and chip in with a decent amount of goals & assists, and generally be a cracking team player, but he'll miss chances and sometimes be very frustrating in the final third with his decisions. The crucial pieces missing from his game are exactly what Barnes excels at - hopefully he can learn a lot from him.
  13. It's not even going to stop what it sets out to achieve and, once again, actually helps bigger teams with deeper squads . The 'timewasting' in the additional 10 minutes of added time will probably get even worse, in all honesty - it's a pretty natural reaction when you're tired to find any way to have a breather. In any case, I'm probably going to love it when Joelinton again goes down with cramp in the 103rd minute while we're 2-1 up at Anfield.
  14. I'd say watching boring as fuck teams play for 55 minutes is a much worse product than enjoying Eddie's ADRENALINE mags for 51.
  15. He should be investigated for whatever he's done to Murphy. He looked scared to even trap a ball for about 3 years and now he's doing bits.
  16. He just feels like a really smart buy for us. He's about as good a player as you could want for one of our major gameplans last season - overload right to create an isolation on the left for a switch. Also, outside of Isak and Wilson (and maaaybe Miggy if he does it again this year), we lack consistent finishers and that was one of the big problems when we had our runs of draws. It's important to have lots of available goalscorers in the squad of course but you want a core group you can always rely on. I think Howe will do a lot of tactical rotation of the front 3 this season but Big Harvey will gets loads of minutes and goals/assists to his name.
  17. Most Barnes finish ever. Satisfying. Good run from Wilson. He's been making weird choices today when we've had a break sticking very central but that was a lovely bit of movement.
  18. And one of the reasons they finished behind us is because they conceded a lot more goals. Klopp isn't going to change his style much so they currently don't feel any better off in that department to me - he's not brought in super athletic midfield pressers or players known for defensive nous. Looks like the plan for Szlob could be as an #8 but he's only really played as an AM or winger in his career. Still time for it all to change, of course.
  19. Premier League Panel was really good but I think he's gone a bit too nerdy gimp.
  20. Also, while Villa look strong, Emery has previous for starting very well and then plateauing to a more natural (still very good) level in the league. Maybe this is because he puts so much emphasis on cups.
  21. Liverpool's mid looks talented but lightweight to me, not enough to mask some of the defensive frailties they showed last season across a full campaign.
  22. He's getting some flak, like he's meant to be a really good guy and not your typical commercial sleazebag. Obviously his job is to grow revenue but he's apparently a big picture person rather than an opportunist. Commercial departments usually have input into general sale/memberships/season ticket plans but it's very small fry for them compared to sponsorships, partnerships and hospitality so clubs usually have a Head of Ticketing or equivalent to properly lead it. Arsenal had this until late 2021 at least (actually, they might still). NUFC don't appear to have that structure, from what I can tell, so he's likely to have more direct input into this. Either way, there's no way that Eales hasn't been across this in some form, even just for sign-off.
  23. I think it's the latter, unfortunately. The club were looking to move to some new vendors and starting a 'digital transformation' last season; I presume they're still figuring this out following new hires as the ticketing vendor is still SeatGeek (pretty sure it was the same last season). A couple of PL clubs have moved away from SeatGeek this year as they have limitations but they're good enough to handle a better system than this. I don't think the club have a formal Head of Ticketing yet which is quite common at other clubs; so I presume decisions are currently split between the Marketing & Commercial leads with sign-off from above.
  24. Yup, I'd agree that this summer would be a headache - I think he's a fantastic squad striker to have in our position. His age does matter though when it comes to our position with FFP, doesn't it? As we've seen this summer, we will likely need to sell to buy again at some point, but we presumably don't want to be selling Isak or Bruno as we want to meet competitive aims long-term. That then begs the question about who is the next eligible sale to help us progress and when is best to make our move to get as much out of that move as possible. If we're as FFP-obsessed as we appear to be, I'd be pretty shocked if the club aren't already considering when we'd be willing to cash in on a very good player who is starting to get older and has had significant injury issues so often in his career, tbh.
