Thet've done very well over the last few seasons which has pushed there revenue up. Plus they've started piling a decent amount of debt onto the club (they were debt free a year or so ago apparently). Then again this transfer is just a rumour, really we're dealing in who's rumoured transfers are more expensive here but last season signing also sums up how much they spend on 1 season... they hardly paid cheaply for players... could it be mansion benefit and good wage structure? they hardly more popular club also around the globe than NUFC but i was thinking they are now following arsenal foot step.... basically they pay much for lower salary players... so they could easily sell them... for additional income

We'll still have a squad with Geremi as back up and LuaLua getting to the age where he should be getting pushed more by Keegan. Milner on the other hand is a player with a decent price on his head because he's young and English, he's an average footballer though so it would make sense to cash in on him now before his value drops, which it surely would if he's going to spend a season as back up (not that I think he'd be happy here as back up btw) We don't have a big enough squad as it is and I reckon we would be lucky to get a player as good/valuable to us as Milner for £5m. Our squad isn't all that small, it just looks worse because we lack any sort of quality in certain areas, across midfield being one of them. As Shak has said, sell Milner and spend the money on a defensive midfielder, then spend the sort of money we were prepared to pay for Modric on another attacking talent or two. i think people forgot how hard it is to find a quality player.. even we slapped him with incredible tag price (modric case)... i think gejon has fair point to say
