Against Hughes (who acknowledges or admits very little to camera or to the media) and Wenger ("I didnt see it"), in this case I would take the word of Given's solicitor as its just so out of character for Given and the people assosciated with him. If his solicitor has spoken out of turn and lied it is an absolutely phenomenal error of judgment for a professional man trained and educated in the art of what to say and when to say it.

It's weird at times how players who are top class just fade away. He's been on his way down for a while I think, quality at Valencia but didn't really do it at Zaragoza so he was always a risk. Perhaps the disppointment of the move to NUFC falling down crushed him mentally -

Wins help you avoid relegation though. Draws dont. Thats why the win ratio is more significant. absolutely true. just pointing out that you can see it in different ways. he's at least made us hard to beat Agree there WTF. Can also see O-N's opinion. I just fear that over the course of a season, that kind of average is more likely to make relegation a possibility. Definitely not going to agrue against how pleased I have been with our recent spate of clean sheets -

This thread shoudl be come interesting on the next 30 days

No of course mate, we dont know for certain that we could fall like Leeds. Its just that fear that if we continue to allow our better players to leave, replace them with lesser quality players whilst all the other teams around are strengthening, then ultimately, we will only head in one direction. A good man manager at the helm always helps when you dont have 11 International class players in the starting line up and at the minute i dont feel we have one of those either. I feel like we are kind of treading water at the minute. Hopefully it wont be for long.
-
Quite the opposite if things continued, we'd actually be cash-rich because we didn't spend. But possibly equally in League 1 if we fill the squad with average players.
-
Exactly. He should have went in that summer the same time Liverpool got rid of Houllier and replaced with a top class replacement. For all the stick Shepherd gets, when some of it to me is undeserved this to me was the biggest mistake of his tenure as Chairman. He was thinking along the right lines I think because there was obviously an attitude problem with the players. He just made the wrong choice in man to come and sort it out.
-
Exactly. Edit : and I appreciate it would be a tough decision when you are getting a ton of money thrown at you but we are talking about Liverpool here and turning down the chance of playing for one of the most successful clubs in the world.

Bloody hell I thought this was an old thread with the headline changed. Didnt realise it was a brand new thread from last night. Must have been not long after i logged off.

He is the archetypal mercenary. Dont want him anywhere near our club.
-
Agreed. I don't give a fuck how frustrated he might be. He gets paid handsomely for his frustrations. Always a model pro, Shay should have known better. Thing is I trust Shay to know better. How bad must things be for him to break rank and come out with something like this. Worrying.

Well this is a bit depressing to wake up to
-
Quite surprised by that. Is there an underlying reason as to why? Rumour I heard yesterday was that he had an enormous bust up with William Gallas. Seems an extreme reaction to hand a transfer request in mind. Must be other stuff going on

So no new rumours knocking about in the night then ? -
Always think of a Peter Beardsley hat-trick when I hear that song and bizarrely enough, that game was one of the first things I thought of when I woke up this morning. All the best for 2009 everyone.

Would love a signing in the first couple of days to get morale up

I'm not going to bite at that one Fredbob

He does it even when it isn't the window. I bet the phone call to defoe was the 1st one he made from his new WHL office

I just hope that any offers made are serious ones and not token gestures that the selling clubs are just going to laugh at. -
I know this is totally random and an unrealistic thought but I often wonder how a journalist would be viewed if he wrote articles that basically said "There are no new revelations or facts from the club today" and instead filled the pages with something else (goodness knows what mind) Dull, Yes. Annoying, Yes but also honest. Like I said, stupid thing in reality but said journalist might get respect for telling the truth instead of making stuff up.
