  1. I agree. It's fucking cheating. Keane does it all the time. I was always under the impression that it was a 'clean' run up and strike at goal. As i said, it always used to be but seems to be ignored. John Aldridge started it. I was just going to mention Aldridge when I saw your next post. Did they go through ashort period of banning him from doing this ? I think there was much talk about it, but don't know if it actually happened. Talking of cheating, see also the tendency of some keepers to be about 6 feet off their line when the kick is taken. These are simple rules which seem to get ignored an awful lot nowadays. I fear its not picked up on for the reasons similar to technology being introduced. I think they know it will take too long to have to re-take penalties about 5 times until the keeper stops coming forward. its like trying to get a defensive wall at a free kick to actually stay 10 yards from the ball. Why refs' dont just say to them, "move 1 inch forward and your all booked" I just dont know.
  2. Heaven knows what Sam will do if we end up playinig well and winning without Smith. Goinig to open about 100 cans or worms that will
  3. Fair point, but we actually do have a five year plan to be playing in the CL (I think they're de rigeur for all new owners these days - I know West Ham have one, for instance). Admittedly, we're further into it, but that's probably the measure of how large the gulf is between the top four and the rest. Obviously, as you said, it depends what the five year plan is to achieve. What is going to be interesting is that there are the current top four, then there are quite a large group of second tier (and a few third tier - West Ham, Blackburn for example) clubs who all have money and all want the same thing, the problem being, they can't all have the same thing. I don't think how much money you spend is necessarily going to be the crucial factor in the same way it was in the past, but that's probably another argument. Sven has taken the bit of paper with 5 year plan written on it screwed it up and thrown it in the bin. They will compete for CL next year. Hmm. Maybe. be interested to know what he is doing to secure Man City's future. The impression at the moment is that they will just through money at players to improve the team. if he isnt looking after the youth policy then their long term future isnt great. Only time will tell though. All we know is that they are better than us at the minute but in football, that can change within a matter of months

  5. Getting advice from Stan Collymore... fucking hell it must be bad
  6. I think we should maybe concentrate on just getting into Europe first before worrying about how will perform when we are there.
  7. If he is saying that in 5 years, the club will have solid foundations in terms of structure, youth policy, scouting policy, training etc then yes, I am fine with it. I am not sure that Keegan left the club as a whole in a healthy state. Yes, our first team was fantastic, and our profile as a club had gone through the roof, but I am not sure he left our youth and reserve teams in any kind of position to make the club successful for the years ahead. We have to have the ability to bring through local kids instead of just buying buying buying so if Sam thinks he is capable of doing this to our club then he has my 100% support. For now though, I just want to see some commense sense in the first team selection otherwise I wouldnt hold out too much hope about what state the club is actually going to be left in.

    The Mole?

There have been embarassing leaks for years. And that's just the defence.
  9. I seem to remember Jay Jay Okocha having a great time at Bolton and he isnt know as a grafter so Sam must appreciate pure skill and flair.

    The Mole?

How is the tea lady being greated these days ? Honestly, we could speculate until the cows come home. Any chance we will ever find out who this is ?

    The Mole?

cant his agent have leaked it ?
  20. Thinking back to the posts pre-match, most of us expected a right battering. I think we should try and take as many positives out of this as possible and accept that had it not been for a scandalous decision, we most likely would have got a point. Chelsea are quality, despite their injury problems. we now have to take the positives from today and make sure they are used to our advantage against Man City.
  21. 1 year younger than me. RIP

  23. What an unbelievably and utterly bollocks story with absolutely no substance in it at all. When are they ever going to just fuck off with this bollocks. I think tabloid sports journalism must be the easiest job around.
