  1. Hope you're not scared of the dark. Know what you mean though and agree. I know we all get frustrated, but the booing doesnt help the team one bit. Let's try and stay behind them as much as possible.
  2. Grumpy has offered to put a bus on if he gets enough interest, PM him. Cheers for 1 or 2 bits of advice. Have went for Kevs' book early option. Can you grab seats anywhere on the bus or do you have to stick to the numbers on the tickets? Have been with them before but it's been a while.
  3. Drove to an away game for the 1st time yesterday and the journey home was too much like hard work. Taking my 12 year old daughter to Wigan and before yesterday intended to drive. On the way home i thought to myself "back page for wigan". Reading this i just can't make up my mind. Really don't want to have to put up with a coach load of charvas. Are all the buses like that or is it just pot luck each game?
  4. Nice change to have a performance that didn't merit the team being booed off at the end. Was proud of the singing after the final whistle as those players who could be bothered to come to our end did so. It was a much more positive performance yesterday and if we show the same commitment etc i think things could get better. Why N'zogbia at left back though? Does my head in.
  5. Was priveleged to meet him at his soccer circus and have no shame in boring people to death telling them so. He's a top bloke though. KEEGAN! KEEGAN!
  6. Does it matter who we sign if the manager is going to play them out of position like he's prone to do? I think it's more a question of team selection to blame rather than the players we have.

    Mad Darren

Took my forum name from that very "scoreboard" end, coupled with the year Keegan signed as a player. Felt very nostalgic reading that piece. Didn't know Darren, but him up on those barriers sticks in my memory. Tragic death. Was there week in, week out, then gone suddenly. Makes you think. St James' was full of characters back then, and although the ground was crumbling to bits the atmosphere was superb. Going to go now before i sound even more like an old man. Ahh, them were the days.
  8. Hillsborough was tragic but many fans in Athens behaved in a manner liable to cause a similiar outcome. i.e stormed the stadium to get in. Understandable the desire to get in at all costs however. If the Toon were in the champions league final, i know i'd be desperate to get in but most probably i'd be dreaming.
  9. No,no,no! It's got to be played pre-match. Why are they so against it pre-match? Vast majority want it so just bring it back.
  10. Went to St Mirren v Gretna on Saturday. Been a part-time St Mirren fan since a visit to that area in the mid 80s. Sometimes go when the Toon haven't got a game. Incorporated a visit to the nearby "Kevin Keegans soccer circus" and thouroughly enjoyed it. Got to meet the great man who took the time to have a bit crack and sign autographs. He spends loads of time there by all accounts. St Mirren won 1-0 in an early season relegation battle. Canny day was had.
  11. West Ham(75-76). In the old leazes. Remember the crowd singing "Mervyn Day is a puff". He was their keeper at the time. They also had Lampards fatha playing. We had one of those scoreboards in the gallowgate with letters representing matches for the half-time scores. A hand would poke through and put the numbers in place. We won 2-1, but i had agonising toothache and had my black and white bar scarf wrapped round my mouth. A trip to the old dental hospital followed next day, where i had 4 teeth out. I've suffered much more pain watching the Toon since though.
  12. Aye, and their synopsis for the fairs cup final was "Here's a rare treat...silverware." Cheeky b*****ds
  13. Watched some of the Brighton game Thursday dinnertime. Great stuff. The atmosphere was amazing, with the gallowgate crowd swaying all over the terraces and people standing on the barriers. Chants of "Keegan,Keegan" made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. They interviewed him, pitchside at the end of the game. He was bedecked in Toon scarves and he looked very emotional. Can't believe he ever signed for us in the 1st place, so soon after twice being European footballer of the year. After years of s**t, a real star came to our club. Going to watch it again Sunday. Between 6 and 9pm there's a run of about 4 consecutive Toon games, including the Fairs cup final.
  14. It's just not the same without local hero played before kick-off. Can't believe they've scrapped such a popular tune. If you're on a coach/ train going to an away game and someones mobile rings, local hero is the ring tone 9 times out of 10. Still, suppose it's no good us moaning on here about it not being played. It would probably need enough people to contact the club about it.
  15. You are joking, aren't you? Was thinking the exact same thing tbh. Danny dyer is a t*** of the highest order with his pathetic cockney accent. And a stupid walk too.
  16. Why should Celtic/Rangers, or any other team for that matter be allowed to play in another country for being successful and having big crowds? Both leagues would become false if they came to England. Any team that won the SPL couldn't say they were the best in Scotland. They'd only be the best of what's left. While the old firm aren't wanted by some in Scotland, i hope they're never allowed to play down here.
  17. I dream of it happening one day but seem destined never to win owt. We could play Accrington Stanley in a cup final and still blow it. Hopefully good things come to those who wait and all that. What annoys me is some of the clubs that have won stuff in fairly recent history. Coventry(FA CUP 87) Wimbledon(FA cup 88) Oxford, Norwich, Leicester, Blackburn and of course the smoggy scum in the league cup. Blackburn winning the prem'. Makes me sick. Just give us a cup, even if it's only one to see how it feels and to stop away fans singing "you've never won F*** all".
  18. £35 adults. Don't know how much for juveniles.

    Old Firm

    Agree with the above.
  20. London- QPR ( no glory-hunting fans, had some canny trips there in the 90s') Birmingham - Birmingham. (find Villa dull, don't like the strips or anything). Liverpool - Tranmere. (fans of both the "big 2" think they're so famous, succesfull and are always praising themselves). Manchester - Man city (like us they follow their club through trophy-less year after year. Manure fans are the ultimate glory-hunters). Sheffield - (Wednesday i suppose). Glasgow - St Mirren (just next door in Paisley, black and white stripes, real fans who don't associate religion with football. Come on the Saints!) Wild card - Blackpool (Canny place, like the tangerine).
  21. Don't know how soon before a game setanta can change English games, but it seems they can move Scottish games at short notice. St Mirren are my favourite Scottish team and their game with Hearts has been moved from Sat' 28 to Sunday 29th of this month. This was announced only last week. Only about a month before the game.
  22. Gone for it. Wor lass currently unemployed so this offer makes it easier to pay for next seasons ticket. I'd buy a season ticket next season anyway, funds allowing. Usually pay to go to most home cup ties too, so any i get for free is a bonus. Got nowt to lose doing it this way in my opinion. If we're not playing too well by the January transfer window the club will have no excuse for not trying to strengthen the side, because they'll have banked a lot of money that they wouldn't usually have at that time of year.
  23. Aye, hope they go down. The 2 headed mutants aren't very welcoming and you always get made to hang around a car park for ages by the local coppers as you approach the horrible place. Oh, and all those chemicals in the air too. Please go down this season.
  24. If it's true that Nobby and wife divorced and she's moved the family away, then i can sympathise. There's not much he can do if she want's to live elsewhere with the kids. I know he extended his contract, but i'm sure he did so in good faith. Maybe the family circumstances have changed since? Don't see why he'd extend his contract if he had no intention of staying. It's only one more year if he stays at the Toon, but i suppose a years a long time with limited access to your kids. It is only speculation. If there's no truth in it then the chronicle are a disgrace.

Check the history books re winning cups. Oh and i've never heard of Garmin either. I've seen Newcastle play 10 times away in Europe. That's probably more away games than you're club's played in Europe. Hope to god you go down soon.
