Going Home: Theme Of The Local Hero is back for good
Scoreboard82 replied to Luc's topic in Football
Along with Coloccinis' signing, this is good news. Pre-kick off atmosphere just wasn't the same without it. -
The club seem determined to sicken the man by not backing him, which is a shame, because if ever there was a man who loves the club and wanted to bring success, it's King Kev. Long live the king.

Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal

was the playuer wearing a spiderman mask ? Maybe he has a child to an estranged Geordie partner and he's a father for justice who needs to be closer to the young'un. Seriously though, never heard of him but i hope he does the business on the pitch. -

The lack of a get out clause may put me off. You just don't know what the future holds. Ever the optimist me. -
Season Tickets due to arrive Thursday/Friday - see OP for latest

I paid in advance for the coming season. Our tickets are cheaper than what i paid and i'm due a refund. At the viewing of our new seats yesterday, the NUFC staff member informed me this refund isn't quite as big as i'd expected. Seems i misunderstood. I didn't realise that unless you took up the price freeze option, this coming seasons ticket would cost 10% more than it would if you paid for next season only. I thought the increase only applied the following 2 seasons. I told them i didn't want to take up the price freeze, but on thinking about it, i may get in touch tomorrow and tell them i've changed my mind. If it's possible of course. I wonder what happens if you commit to the 10 monthly direct debit payments and you have a dip in fortune and become skint? Will ask them Tomorrow. -
Used to be really chuffed when it was the Toons turn to have their team photo on the centre pages of shoot/match. It was like a special edition when that happened, especially in the days when we were struggling outside of the top flight.

Disastrous final, but was great to see O'Brien keep up his tradition of putting the ball in the mackems net.

If i've read my renewal form correctly, they are threatening us wth a 10% rise for the 2 seasons after next, unless we take the 3 year price freeze option. -
Champions League participation vs winning the League Cup
Scoreboard82 replied to Dave's topic in Football
Win the league cup. Got to get rid of the "you never win f**k all" syndrome that hangs over the club. Get that out the way, then get in the CL. -
Acceptable to who? The club or Owen? I'm sure it would be acceptable to the club, but I very much doubt it would be acceptable to Owen. You not going to replace those 8 players then? Or are you just going to use YTS lads? PS You forgot Given off your list of useless players/crocks. Bit harsh on Given IMO. He's stayed here for years and done a great job for the most part, when he could've signed for most other clubs and won things. Harpers a good keeper, but in them 2 we've got a 1st class pairing.

The one that sticks in the mind is Beardsleys v Brighton in the 1984 promotion season. He brilliantly hooked the ball out of someones possession with a great sliding tackle, before chipping the ball over Joe Corrigan in goal. David Kellys last gasp winner v Portsmouth and the 2 goals v Leicester at the end of 1991-92. They were so crucial. Without them we'd have been playing in the old 3rd division the following season. Instead we went on to be champions and reach the premier league.

Season ticket news - renewal deadline now Sunday June 22

I don't think they force you to go to the family enclosure, but if you want to save some money and don't mind the worse view, then they'll refund the difference and move you back As long as we don't pay over a hundred quid more than others for our tickets, i'm more than happy to stay in the family section. Bairn enjoys it and it's cheap as owt. I'll speak to the club and see about getting the difference refunded. As for the view, i'm just hoping we won't be too far back in level 7. E-mailed my concerns to the club regards being over-charged and ending up with a poorer view and they phoned me very soon after to tell me i'd get a refund for the difference between how much i'd paid and how much next seasons tickets will cost. £112 in my case. They also said because i've already paid for my tickets in row C, i'll also be in row C when we move to level 7. Not too high after all. Well done to the ticket office staff for a change. Long may the good service continue. -
I'm in the family enclosure with my daughter. I already had a season ticket myself, elsewhere in the ground. When we applied together and asked to get in the family end, we waited a couple of seasons. It may be different next season, as seemingly they are making it 3 times the current size, then again they are bringing the price down too. I think the child prices apply to under 16s and when we applied i had to present her birth certificate. I guess that's so as you don't try and keep the child there beyond turning 16, as they know exactly how old they are. I'm not sure on how close a family member you have to be, but i'd be surprised if you had a problem taking a cousin. If you're sure you and your cousin want tickets then you're probably best applying as soon as poss', even if it means registering your interest before season ticket renewals are sent out. I think that'll be soon so be quick. Good luck.

Wait a minute. £300 for me and £100 for the bairn in the family section? We've already paid for next seasons tickets and i'm sure they cost over £500 for the pair. It's good that we'll be along the side of the pitch by moving to the Milburn, but it is a level higher and effectively we're in the "gods". I think i'll be having a chat with the box office staff very soon. -
Iknow he played for Man U, so he obviously has strong links with them. Seems to have forgotten his roots though, and has ultimately defected.
-
Refreshing to see a couple of unexpected finalists. At the end of the day though, it's one more set of fans who'll be able to come here in a mini-bus and taunt us that we've never won f**k all. Surely there's no justice in the world, when teams such as Portsmouth, with there ungrateful, oh so very restrained in celebration, fans can win the cup. When i see other captains lift the cup, i can't tell you how much i yearn for that to be the Toon one day.
-
Nah, that wasn't ace he was drinking. looked more like red stripe or something. He did well to keep a hold of the can though.
-
Doesn't even mention the stabbing! Wow. The stabbing turned out to be not that bad afaik. Is there such a thing as a not bad stabbing? Hope the Rangers fans involved in the trouble are proud of themselves. They've disgraced their club. No doubt any Rangers fan you speak to will still try and tell you how great their support is. F**k them. A**eholes.
-
Aye, it can be boring, but at least it's stress free.
-
He may have said we won't get into the top 4, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to try to get into the top 4. I think some of what he said, was said in an attempt to keep Ashley on his toes, and make him face up to what a challenge lies ahead. Probably testing Ashley to see how ambitious he really is.
-
Not happy with that at all. It's the bairns 1st season as a s/ticket holder, and i'd told her that the players usually go round the pitch at the end. We sit fairly high up in the stand, but when people started to leave towards the end, i spotted some empty seats near the front, which we moved into to get a better view. So there we were, bairn with her camera at the ready, and all they offer is a brief appearance in the centre circle, which seemed nothing more than a token gesture. Granted a mid-table finish isn't something to celebrate, but i'm sure they could've mustered a wander round the pitch before going off. They've done so in years gone by, when a fraction of the number that stayed yesterday have been present.
-
Get in! Done all 3. That'll do me, considering how bleak things were around the beginning of March.
-
Aye, should be interesting that. Unfortunately i'll miss it with being at work. I wonder if i can listen to it online via Century radios' web site, after the broadcast. I'd like to know what he says about the toon. I think he was happy playing as a striker here and that he was a good striker. I think he just didn't know how to air his feelings towards Souness when he was either being dropped or played out of position. I feel Souness forced him out by going on a power trip. A good player needlessly cast aside so Souness could prove who was boss.
-
Something tells me you're not entirely happy in that area?
