Could have been one of the best left-backs in the Premier League because he had it all and when he did perform, he looked genuinely like a top player. He was weak mentally though and didn’t seem to settle. I think he had fitness problems a well. Bernad was the best left-back we’ve had in our PL era for me, although Distin despite being a CB and at the club a short time on loan, was immense when played LB. I thought we lost out big time when he didn’t sign and went on to prove himself a very good CB. Beresford imo. Enrique for me

In that he’s very good at the defending side of things, but not so good on the ball. Lejune is a good footballer for example, and not too bad a defender either. If he’s played at left-back or wing-back I’ve got to concerns whatsoever with the defensive side of Dummet’s game, but that role requires a lot more from him going forward and with the ball at his feet. We have a number of players with some very good attributes physically, mentally, defensively, but not so many good attributes in terms of skill, passing, technique. Dummet, Yedlin and Ritchie most notably. Wouldn’t say yedlin is good mentally or defensively
