This reminds me of the January transfer window when we were in the championship signings had to be made to push us on and it was done. This would have happened this summer IMO but the club was unwilling to pay over the odds for players or they just simply weren't available at the time. I am delighted that the club stuck to their guns... short term pain long term gain. Obviously it can not happen every year but we have defiantly drawn a line in the sand with selling clubs. Honestly would hate to think what would have happened if we signed De Jong in the summer. I think we would be in so much trouble at the moment. We would be unable to afford Mapou for example. I am quite sure there will be a big sale to offset these purchases already prepared for the summer Tiote to a CL team in another league would probably be the most likely. That said would do a player exchange of sakho for tiote if coloccini leaves... as mapou and sakho both have the same agent and will have one year left on his contract with PSG where he is still on small wages

The genuine depth is what I am most excited about... so much for throwing in the Europa League we might be considering going for it.

Honestly believe we jumped out of the starting blocks trying to replicate last season. Unlucky results and poor football put and end to that quite quickly. But at the same time we went into our shell and played somewhat negative football. When we played Arsenal and Manu we played with some attacking intent and it showed. We may have been defensively fragile but we had a go. Norwich was more about a clean sheet then playing good football. I want us to have a real go and go down fighting rather than worrying about what could happen. Pardew really needs to get the confidence going be that signing players, playing attacking football or a team orgy. Just get the fucking team believing they can do anything like last year.

Will be a club legend what ever he does, him staying during our relegation season, this entitles him to do whatever he needs to do. Stay positive colo!

For those of you slagging pardew get a grip. They prepared for having Ba in the team. Its alot easier to just slot ameobi in then moving both him and cisse. Its not his fault Ba has fucked off at the 11th hour. He may of just benched the cunt but honestly fuck him long term we are better. The game was very unlucky we probably deserved a draw at worst.

Would be interesting to see how it is written as a clause anyway. Like there could be a release clause based on appearances but how exactly does one measure "Playing through the middle" Liverpool could put him in the centre of defence for all that concerned. I honestly think when cabaye and tiote are together they can get the best of most midfield trios.... However that said we are missing tiote....

The physique of Tioté, Cabaye up to speed and Jonas or Anita's workrate should see us dominate the central midfield, at least if we play with three there. Ben Arfa running at Evra is also good. However, we need Coloccini to marshall the defence against Rooney and Van Persie. They dealt with the former exceptionally well last season and Tioté got stuck in as well. Van Persie however cause all sorts of problems for Williamson. Colo needs to be in charge and organize things, that's my main worry. Score draw looking likely. I think Ba will have another stormer against them. OK normally I would agree with you, however fergie will play two deep midfielders and kagawa. Cabaye and Tiote can deal with that we don't need Anita from the start. I expect 4-4-2 and we will try steamroll them like we did last year. Hoping Pardew rolls the dice and really goes for it.

They get huge fees because most of the time their players are owned by 3rd parties. Hulk for example has a big % of his rights with a third party investor. They may have got 40m for the beast but they most likely will only see 8-14m by the time everyone else is paid up.

I think he got his tactics wrong yesterday, not necessarily should have played 4-3-3 but our 2 midfielders lost the battle against their 2. I think if tiote was playing we may have played better as a whole. What would have been the best option would have been to play a midfield diamond of 4 players. With antia anchoring cabaye/jonas in the middle and cabaye linking play to our two strikers. It would have required our fullbacks to both create width and keep mata/hazard under control. Honestly just think Pardew did not have the necessary quality to beat Chelsea baring magic from dembas/hatem.

Would be mint to see IMO

debuchy, douglas and berbatov on loan would make us a very strong contingent all possible to imo.
