I seriously doubt we'll be one of the best, if not the best in the league. I think we have the potential to have a very good centre midfield and they'll see amazing to us.. but that's mainly because of the last 4 or so season of a midfield incapable of movement.

Ahhh, so it's basically a case of you can't stand him so everything should be moved around to suit your needs. Got you. If we're going to put a stop to this because he speaks bollocks then we need to do the same with other things then? There's loads of sources that are known to be total s*** but get used around the forum... No. Just him and those that we know for sure spend every hour of every day making up bullshit stories. It's completely f***ing stupid and has no place on a good messageboard like this. But it doesn't work like that. You can't just ban people for posting a tweet from someone who has a load of followers and acts like he's the big 'I am'. Some are going to fall for it for the reasons I outlined earlier and it'd be unfair to ban everyone (or anyone) for that reason. 99.9% of twitter ITK posts are bullshit and you know that.. same goes for Martin Jol who posts his Spurs ITK bullshit.. same as every tribalfootball bullshit story. It's unavoidable. Going back to my original point, surely this thread was made to keep all of the Twitter bullshit away from the other threads because it is actually 100% unavoidable?

Generally, the people that have posted his stuff seem to be doing it as if to say 'look what he's come out with now'. If you only want twitter rumours with an element of truth in or with at least to be from a source that isn't this one person then be clearer with the thread surely. It says bollocks in the thread title and this Colin clearly talks bollocks so I can't see what the massive issue should be. If it's that much of a problem just change the thread title and give people a heads up. You're assuming that every poster is aware of this Colin fella and that they check all the obvious places day in day out. Seems a bit unfair to jump on people based on the assumption that they should know that he's like some kind of hashtag voldemort around here...

Why do people get so stressed out about the Colin thing in this thread? I thought this was a thread designed for the sole purpose of twitter bullshit...?

Was that because they spent the whole time haggling ? As with Liverpool and Chelsea in the earlier examples, they did not wait til late August to get a cheaper deal, as people here are arguing we should do with N'Zogbia. In all of those cases, the selling club were very reluctant to sell. In N'Zogbia's case, the selling club are happy to let go. Perhaps some don't rate the player as highly which is fair enough, and wouldn't mind us targetting someone else. I'm just not convinced we can get a player as proven in the Premier League. Given our other signings have been players with fitness concerns or no Premier League experience, to bring in N'Zogbia after the season he's just had would be a big boost. There were probably numerous points of contact during the whole summer over the player but obviously that's just supposition so can't be cast.. however likely. Another example is Arsenal with Arshavin - that one went over the transfer deadline if I recall and had been going back and forth all summer. There's loads of cases of it, definitely not just a 'small club' thing. Don't get me wrong, I agree that it'd be fantastic to have all the players here now and ready but the truth is that it just doesn't happen that way - regardless of the clubs' stature.

You're right and the risk is that we will lose out on him last minute and be left short of players. There's a reason clubs like Man Utd pay that bit extra and get them in early. Added bonus being that the player has a whole pre-season with the club, is better integrated in the dressing room, training etc, has more chance to work on his role in the team and also has less chance of injury. We've done the right thing getting players in early but we've also signed two bosmans, triggered a transfer clause and are targetting another transfer clause (Neil Taylor) to replace one of the best left backs in the league. I think people have a right to wonder why the club would drag its heels over bringing in a player such as N'Zogbia who is available at very good value and would command an important place in our first team. I know that a club like ours has to be slightly more wily than Man Utd in the transfer market but just as the Carroll and Milner sales left us short on players, I'm wary of it happening again. Ashley likes a game of brinkmanship but if bigger clubs miss their targets they will take a look at N'Zogbia - it is not a simple case of just sitting back and making Wigan sweat. If we get him on deadline day for 2m less then fair enough but is it worth risking a weak squad til January, or signing an inferior player, just to do so? Successful clubs generally don't think this way. So it's not to have depth at left back then? Also you say successful clubs don't wait to the last minute, then point to the sale of Carroll at the last minute that left us short, funnily enough sold to one of the most successful clubs in British football history to replace a player that was sold to one of the most successful British clubs of the last decade, all at the last minute. Chelsea and Liverpool had no problem waiting so why judge it by what Man Utd have done? The same Man Utd that signed Berbatov last minute.

It's in his desk, he's in no rush to sign it. Plenty of time. Still got it, champ.

-
There's only room for one of them on here, Blef... I'm insinuating it's you, by the way.
-
Signing a sought after player for £10m+ before the transfer window opens. This doesn't match the current trend of the ownership at all. Considering there are supposedly CL teams in for him. Never said anything about the amount paid being too much if you get me, more what's going on.
-
Not buying it. No quotes or anything really. It seems a bit too grand for us to be honest.
-
Who's Lee Charney? Actually, I don't care given the source.
-
It looks like his package has caused him to lose balance. Also someone kicked a football nearby.
-
OK... so putting it down just on player for player terms and ignoring fans' opinions do you think Bramble would improve our defence on the basis that he'd be in the starting line-up? If yes, then who would he replace?
-
I wonder if Punk77 is called Harry....
-
Would you still have Bramble here?
-
There's no questioning his inconsistency though, surely? Ameobi has made over 200 premiership appearances and he's just as Jeckyl & Hyde
-
Yeah mistype Point still stands though.
-
Bramble would make at least one a game though, unless it was against Chelsea. What a load of rubbish. Nah you're right, he rarely made a mistake, hardly gifted the opposition goals and was consistently solid. That's why he now plays for the Premiership powerhouse of Wigan.
