It's this bias that represents the laughable SSN minority of toon fans. What bias is that?

I'd say that some of the deflections is more the defenders giving the their team too much space rather than luck... I do agree that some were flukey as fuck though.

first 7 premiership games in charge: Wins - 3 Draws - 2 Losses - 2 Possible points - 21 Actual points - 11 Not too bad when you look at the cut and dry results. We've lost to Man City & Spurs and beaten Wigan, Liverpool and West Ham. We've also drawn against Spurs and Sunderland. Overall... not a bad start. Fairly steady. Regardless however, I still can't bring myself to like him very much. It doesn't look like we'll be going down unless we totally start to fuck-up over the next 6 games or so. Also, we seem to have been getting a ridiculous amount of injuries since he's popped up. You could say it's the fixture list, but we played more games last reasons more regularly and it wasn't this bad. Bit strange.

And he beats up sweet, innocent children outside bars. Arsehole.

Their team contains a decent turn of pace. For this reason I fully expect Smith to give up several dangerous freekicks/a penalty and get a yellow as a minimum. If this clown scores in todays game I'll happily make a bust of this 'NUFC legend' with my own shit.

After the Stevenage game he said that the reason we lost was because "4 or 5 players were on empty and the younger players weren't up for it". In that case he should have played these players that were on empty and there were fuck all youth players in our side. A few days later he said that Krul was a major reason why we lost because he kicks & distribution were very poor. Bit of a daft comment considering our centrebacks were doing that and only that. He also made idiotic substitutions; there was no need to bring on Tiote. He may be a very influential player for us but he's also a DM. He'll now miss the next 3 matches. That's off the top of my head. I'm fairly convinced that playing some of the youth players from the start who are on the fringes like Fergie & Ranger would have been more beneficial because it'd rest key players & give them a chance to show Pardew what they can do.. but we'll never know now.

FA reject unfair dismissal appeal from NUFC for Cheik Tiote
Fatwax replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
f***ing hell Btw does lunging at the far post when trying to get on the end of a cross, scoring the goal but following in on the keeper deserve a red? Nobody wanted to answe this one then? Because it's stupid. There's a difference between sticking your leg out to tap in a cross and flying into a tackle Kung Lao 'Mortal Kombat' style. -

This, however, is balls. His intent was what he executed: take advantage of a loose touch by jumping in front of the player and hooking the ball. It was still dangerous, however. If it goes wrong then you send him off. It's like any tackle man. If you slide in the box and win the ball, it's no penalty. If you slide in the box and miss the ball, it is a penalty. There's no, "Oooh, but he might have got the timing wrong let's give a penalty anyway". Same should apply here imo. What about if you elbow/punch someone and don't make contact? This is actually a red card. Roy Keane got a red for a swing and a miss against Shearer. EDIT: -

No, because that isn't a tackle. If there was a string of serious incidents from overhead kicks I guarantee the FA would head in that direction though. If the player's in the air and not really in control of his body at that point, what's the difference? I suppose there isn't, but you could say the same about diving headers. The fact is that serious career ending injuries have been caused from players leaving the ground and going into the tackle and so the rules have changed over the years to allow referees to simply red card anything like this, because this tackle could have gone horribly wrong and can't see how anyone could deny that. Yes, he DID get the ball, but because he left the ground and lunged in with a lot of power behind the tackle, this will be considered reckless by the FA. -

And that's the bitch of it. He left the ground completely to lunge into a tackle and the FA don't want this in the game at all so it won't be overturned in the hope that it will go a little bit further to stopping players do this. The tackle was inch perfect, but slightly off and it could have been very very reckless and that's what the FA will claim when they review the appeal. -

Exactly my point. He's in control of the actual tackle. But he's left the ground, he's lunged in and therefore not in complete control. That tackle could have easily gone wrong if someone like Smith had tried it. It's the possibility here that will lead to the ban being upheld. The FA want this kind of thing removed from all levels of the game and simply won't allow players to launch off the ground and go into the tackle, no matter how inch perfect it may be.
