Just incessant time wasting now

Their anti-football is annoying the crap out of me

At this moment in time I'd snap your hand off to get Wissa through the door this week. He's clearly a good finisher. Has a decent record at this level and can hit the ground running much like Elanga. Let's not forget he isn't coming to be our first choice and will rotate in when we need to give Isak a rest, he'll get plenty of game time and will offer us a threat when we have to take Isak off which is a whole lot more than Wilson et al did last season, no brainer. Yes he's a bit of an anticlimax compared to some of the names we've been after but he's still quality.

It's starting to feel like some of these players aren't even wanted by them lot, they just don't want us to have them and they don't have PSR limitations to contend with so can buy £50-60m players to warm their benches.

Nothing is happening until something happens, not worth getting worked up over something you can't control, no point in trying to decipher some hidden code in soundbites, just take it as it is and worry about it if something actually happens. Right now it's a whole lot of nothing so I don't get the anxt and yes we're playing right into scouse hands expecting the worst and talking them up so much, they aren't all that, we proved it last season when we took a Cup from them.
-
Doesn't help some of our own posters cheering on the scouse muppet. Isak is going nowhere @Goldbossedwe will strengthen with him still in the squad and he will score against you again home and away, come to terms with that. And to our lot, stop catastophising, Isak didn't play a meaningless friendly yesterday, so what? Stop reading between the lines and just see what happens next week. We need a signing to stop all the anxiety and take the focus off what essentially is a nothing story.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26
Mattoon replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
We're rusty in our first pre-season game, Celtic look sharp this being their 5th(?) game pre-season, we're playing half a team of kids each half and we've got two of our best players out, what exactly were people expecting? People acting like this is some kind of CL qualifier, the score is meaningless, we're just warming up. It's not been pretty but there's loads of time before the season starts, I'm just happy I get to see a match, feels like forever since the end of the season. -

Nazis flying Jewish flags? Now I've heard it all -
PSR doing its job this summer, preventing us from breaking through, ultimately now we're trying to shop from the top shelf we still don't quite have the pull of Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, even Man Utd and Spurs and we're not in the position to throw money at the problem to bridge the gap like Man City and Chelsea were able to do. For now we have to continue to behave ourselves and know our place in the pecking order. It's going to be a slow building process financially or the rules are going to have to change for us to compete, until such a time, we can't fiscally compete. Having said all that, I am confident we will add more players to the team before the season starts, no way we go into 4 comps this light.

Just been on the news aggregator NewsNow to see what's new and it's all just negative stories for us desperate to put us in our place "Liverpool target Isak upset", "United scupper Newcastle move", "Spurs boost, Newcastle won't like it!".
-
I think Sesko's wage demands rule him out, the Wissa links don't make sense either compared to our profile for that position so far this window. It's all click generating until a bid goes in somewhere
-
Liverpool fans were a lot more magnanimous than Arsenal would ever be when they were 2nd best in the Carabau Cup. Having said that, I know a fair few and they're nice as pie and shower you with praise until you come head to head on something, then all sensibilities go out the window and the entitlement rears it's ugly head. At least Arsenal supporters wear their insufferability as a badge of honour, Liverpool supporters hide theirs incognito pretending to be the nice club. They're both massively insufferable, no need to measure.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)
Mattoon replied to Miggys First Goal's topic in Football
Think we probably have some credit in the bank with Ekitike too, we've persued him relentlessly for 3 years, whereas Liverpool see him as a "he'll do" option, the whole PSG saga will probably have him tentative about a move to them too IMHO -

I still think we keep Isak and get Ekitike, based off nothing but vibes -
Barcalona, Real Madrid, PSG, all clubs that could get Isak for £150m, Liverpool et al can pay North of that, that wouldn't just be selling our prize asset, it would be giving a rival a cheat code, you don't become number one by selling one the best players in world football to a direct league rival. This won't happen, even if Isak throws a fuss, he stays.
-
The bed wetting in here they're not getting Isak for £120m even if their tactic does unsettle him doesn't mean we have to automatically let him go. You're in for a long week if you're rattled now, we will string them along until we get the Ekitike deal over the line then slam the door in their face. Bookmark this, we'll have both of them.
