they're just fucking bitter that the city gets more recognition on a whole, and is the major hub that people go to/think of when the North-East is mentioned, and that recognition includes the football team, their rivals. I know plenty of mackems who study/have studied in Newcastle, work in Newcastle, live in and around Newcastle and socialise in Newcastle, rather than sunderland. Our city has far more to offer, especially after money has been pumped in in the last 20 or so years to regenerate certain areas. They're just bitter that there is fuck all worthwhile in their shitty little cesspit of a town, where little money has been spent on regeneration, and they can live up to the fact that this probably won't change under the coalition government.
