  1. No I think they said Ashley and Llambias were off to Ascot as there would be little they could do before the end of the month.
  2. How often do Championship players start for England? How often has someone like Michael Owen played in the Championship? Owen has absolutely no intention of staying with us and I'm surprised anyone thinks differently, his number 1 team (England) doesn't want him, so he has to hawk himself around the Premiership in order to be visible. The shame for Owen is that even if he scores 20 goals this next season (unlikely) and plays 75% of his games because he isn't injured (even more unlikely) he won't be picked because Capello wouldn't pick him even if Owen paid him. His loss of form this last season probably coincided with his realisation that his England career was on the wane or even finished, he's looked suitably depressed ever since. And he'll stay that way.
  3. I thought the hold up was due to Ashley wanting the 15 million he "spent on players" on top of the 100 million asking price, or did I dream that? I just had a quick look and I can't find the article. Ashley wants to sell desperately, we know that, he knows he can't get the loan money back, or at least not easily. Anyway Habib I thought you were on holiday on a beach somewhere?
  4. I like this bit:- "At least 10 other players will also go by August. The deals could bring in £12m." Christonabike, we must be shite.
  5. What would be the point of saying something? The player threads on here are a mix of this: 'He's said nothing, he's a disgrace, doesn't care about the fans!' and 'I wish he'd just shut up with these empty promises and let his football do the talking!' He should have stepped forward as Club Captain, not only off the pitch but on it as well, he couldn't motivate himself or his team mates, he went missing and as Club Captain that's a disgrace. And he would've been slagged of by most for doing so IMO, it's no win for players in a losing team. Our club captain still hasn't had anything to say about our relegation, which is a f***ing joke. Which shows how absolutely gutless he is. Not to even appear before a camera or give an interview about relegation is completely cowardly, so what if he'd been slagged off? He's supposed to be a man not a mouse FFS.

  7. I wonder how many clubs are surprised to learn he was Club Captain here? Because there was no evidence of it on or off the field. I can't remember the last interview he ever did, he left it to others to explain our poor displays. Pathetic.
  8. Shite, every time I see this bumped I'm stupid enough to think there's news, now we're talking about fucking Cantona.
  9. I'm just wondering what shot with shit is all about.
  10. Quel temps fait-il en Paris mon beau ami?
  11. Rescind a Joey Barton Red Card? That will be Joey Barton Devil Child of the FA and all the British Media? Joey Barton Anti Christ? There's more chance we go up first time and win the Premiership the season after.
  12. "Only you can't compare them as Fergie would never do anything as amateurish as that. Shearer is nowhere near the calibre of manager Fergie is so how could I compare them?" Ridiculous tbh, you ARE comparing them, a man who has about 30 years of management experience and a man who has 8 games worth. No, Ferguson wouldn't have done that, he would've twatted him in front of everyone and buried him under the pitch. You go on as if Barton is a poor mite who Shearer should have stuck up for. It sounds like you just don't like Shearer, end of.
  13. I've always thought that we can be relied upon to send a decent number of fans to wherever they put us on Boxing Day, Plymouth? Aye put newcastle United there on boxing day, the fools will leave at 5.00pm on Christmas Day to get there. Or something like that.
  14. The thing I don't get is - who would people pick instead of Shearer? Martinez is gone, Bruce (meh anyway) is gone to the Dark Side, Coppell? No thanks, he's not going to get any pulses racing. Really who else is there? Ince? No thanks again. Shearer has to be Manager one day for all the reasons stated. Even if the best one is to get it over with. As for me I was impressed with how he dropped Owen, the way he dealt with Barton and the way he conducted himself at the end of games/interviews etc. As for the football he knows a bit about it doesn't he? The perfect way for him to start is in the Championship. He knows the players to keep and the ones who don't give a fuck. Would Coppell or Ince know that? He knows the type of player who can come in and do a job. Season tickets will be sold on the strength of his appointment, fans will go on a one to one basis if he's in charge. That can't be a bad thing for the club as a whole, unless of course you want the club to fail totally.
  15. Only if you have previously obtained a Cloak of Non-Disclosure. It's to be hoped they haven't taken the leased PCs away from the data room because of non payment
  16. Can't believe it was just sent to EIGHT clubs, I don't think little Mickey can be that picky. Whelan's a serious nutcase tbh, he hasn't seen he brochure but thinks it's wonderful, wtf? and how come he's always in the news these days? Has he replaced NUFC?
  17. Daily Mail has Blackburn going after Butt Nolan Smith Good news at last, even if it is the Daily Mail.
  18. Because they're blatantly the only 3 players who want to stay. Aye, because where else are they going to pick up 60k a week?
  19. I just can't arsed about all these overpaid wankers playing a seriously weak team like Andorra. If they don't beat them about 12 nowt they should be ashamed. And if they do beat them 12 nowt the media will be going on about how we will win the World Cup every four years until about 2050.
  20. Leonard Ryan? Of Ryanair? Meh. Horrible company like Setanta, I didn't realise he had a connection with Setanta but it makes sense. I've cancelled my DD, they emailed me to say I was supposed to wait 30 days but let them arrest me. I knew it was a mistake to subscribe when I phoned up initially and got a 16 year old from Fife who sniffed all the way through the call and if that wasn't bad enough when I asked to speak to her supervisor because she couldn't answer a question I asked she cut me off. They deserve to fail tbh for employing snotty 16 year olds who aren't trained properly and earn about 5 quid a week.
  21. I've been worried it will be Kinnear since Ashley was singing his praises after the Shearer talks stopped. And for Ashley there really is no other option, unless of course he's going to make us managerless as well as playerless. Let's face it he's going on as if he doesn't give a shit, and he hasn't got the brains to realise the club's worth will plummet to about 100 pence if we wait much longer for ANY manager. I ust can't get my head around how he became a billionaire in the first place. It just shows you don't need brains, you just need a bit of luck and take a few big risks.
  22. Aye, someone on the radio was saying that Man U and Liverpool's debt was "manageable" now but if they ever fell on hard times, ie fell out of the top 4 they would be in dire straits.
  23. That article seems complete bollocks to me. Nothing more than s***-stirring. I like this bit "The supporters are already voting with their pockets; season-ticket sales are almost non-existent, adding to the financial mess which will make Newcastle an even less attractive proposition." Have the renewals even been sent out? I haven't had mine and I don't know anyone who has. Daily Mail classic. Yesterday they tell us that the local consortium is buying us, today it's back to the Omanis. And they get paid for writing this shite.
  24. It's just the usual business haggling surely. I just hope we don't have to wait for the due diligence to be done before Shearer is appointed. If the new lot want what's best for the club, they surely must know if they want to gain anything from their investment, then taking over as quick as possible, rebuilding the team, appointing a manager, etc. is crucial. They'll stand much more chance of getting that £10m back in the Premiership the following season than they would messing around for weeks trying to get the price (which has already been slashed) down further from what seems a fair price for the club and it being too late to bring in players, etc. for the new season. It just shows up more of Ashleys pathetic negotiating skills. They say they want Shearer 110% then get surprised when he asks for a multi million pound deal. Ashley says he's desperate to sell the club, so someone offers 90 mill instead of 100, the consortium is made up of businessmen (so we're told) and that's what business people do. If they've asked for due diligence they can haggle over the price while they do the due diligence. It'll probably go for 95million. If I tell everyone I'm desperate to sell my house for 100k you'd come in and say ok I'll offer you 90k, it's the same principle.
