I agree. Let's not count Wigan though. Against 10 men who are a goal down for 80 mins isn't a good indicator. I do think we'll play more direct against Man City. Possibly with Shola on from the start. Shola on from start

I agree that we need to have a modern footballing philosophy that is coached from youth level all the way up. This is the way football clubs are run these days, and not just the top ones. I'm surprised we haven't done it already given the board's wankathon over the 'Arsenal model'. In order to do the above you need a progressive, modern manager who has a very definite way of playing and coaching eg. Rogers, Wenger, Martinez - we are unlikely to be able to attract a manager of this type because they won't work under our current board. IMO Pardew's footballing philosophy could never be coached at every level of the playing staff because it relies to much on studying the opposition. We don't go out to impose our own game on teams like Liverpool, Swansea, Arsenal and Wigan - nothing compromises the playing style of these teams, whereas we seem to chop and change depending on the style of the opposition. this is the problem. spot on.

shola on the the last 25 mintues and go even longer when we have not won one single header in their penalty area all match. That is how clueless he is. It really nails it for me! We barely hoofed it all game and the hoofing didn't really increase when Shola came on. Some people just make their mind up before the game and with each substitution without even watching the game properly. well. I think i watched the game properly. I wrote "go even longer" that might be an exaggeration. But the plan with shola was clear as usual....long ball option, him being a target man. The only 3 memories i have about shola in that match is him making 3 free kicks when trying to win a header. Well there where about 25 minutes left when he came on...thats about 1/4 of the match roughly. The tactic was clear from there....otherwise marveaux would have come on.

normally i would say its way to early to sack a manager who did so well last season. Also we all are annoyed by the rapid change of managers at this club. But the problem is he is clueless of how to develop us into something more modern and attractive which would benefit the club as a whole. We cannot compete with clubs like tottenham year after year if this is the way we want to play football. His manager skills/philosophy is outdated in the long run. During the time he has been here....with all the great players he has, he still managed to take us backwards. just look at our attacking play this season....clueless. Cisse on the wing, for real many many bad examples to choose from. His selection is mostly right, but how cant it be, when we only have 14-15 to choose from. When was the last time we played a whole game without changing formation at some point. frustrating to say the least. I say it again and again....if only i could see what he was trying to do - develop our style of play, then i wouldn´t mind us loosing in the process as we progress. The main problem at this club at this moment is: Pardew is clueless!

dont know if this have been discussed or explained, but i didn´t find that strange that arfa was subbed. Maybe planned before the game...no need to push after an injury...maybe that was the reason. But putting Shola on with 20 -25 minutes left is probably the most stupid thing he has done so far. Marveaux should have been on and continued what arfa started.
-
i would really like a new attacking LW. remy (not happening imo) could he play there. who else? fischer (ajax)
-
this especially stands out imo. 20 min. left. marveaux could have been able to continue what arfa started. Shola is done in the PL. Colo was so so. Maybe more competition would do him good as well....none should be sure of a starting place. Think we should still go for 4-3-3. central midfield of Anita and tiote behind cabaye. New: RB or LB if santon moves to RB...think he might be better there actually. New: CB: real quality needed New: LW. pacey, tricky with and eye for assists and goals. Striker: depends. if Ba leaves obviously. But i think we should play only play one of cisse and ba....if we have arfa and a new quality LW. its only three new players if ba stays.

outstanding performances doesn´t cost goals.
-
if shola comes on im might switch off the tv and go to bed
-
our attack is horrible. no plan what so ever tiote is really bad. anita is doing well.
-
excited. big game for us.
-
By the way, if West Ham fans were to come on here to find our views on Allardyce they would be opening their wrists 5 minutes in. same same
-
Me too. I was just dreaming for a bit. I awake now
-
I would like: CB, LW, RB I only want quality. Someone who would walk straight into the starting eleven. LW player should be a goalscoring threat or have a record of loads of assists. Not a Jonas type. Go spend 10-20 mill, Mike Loads you can sell or send out on loan

swedish right? you are excused Norwegian, but your point stands even more

swedish right? you are excused

if playing in europe ever becomes an excuse, he should be sacked! Less preparation time...ok, but we mostly play squad and young players + players suspended in the PL. It should or could be an advantage. It has nothing do to with our or his clueless approach!

This is it spot on Dave, Ronnie has put it much better than me. Cheers Ron guess this is how most of us feels. including myself

More promising IMO. tbh its not like we have used them (arfa & cabaye) in our tactics imo. Its not like we have given the ball to cabaye and really used him as the playmaker he is. The plan for for arfa has been. Give the ball to arfa on left (hopefully he is not just outside our own penalty-area) and hope he, by himself can do some magic. It is bulls*it from pardew. They are our best players but they have not been used the right way imo. I have turned against pardew...and its only for the last two months or so....but he seems so clueless and his football philosophy is depressing. if we tried to develop football styles like for example dortmund, swansea, ajax, arsenal etc. then i wouldn´t mind us losing (often) coz i knew we where trying to get somewhere. Is this the style of play our youngsters is learning in our youth teams.....long ball and learn how to adjust to our opponents? Its wrong, and we should stop. The clubs buying policy is ok, but we need to play the same through out the ranks and find the right players for it. This current approach will fail and has already imo. The thing is, you watch our kids play and they play football and their style couldn't be any different to the first team. promising, i guess
