I like the front four, but I'd go for Perchy in CM and Anita at RB. i like you both. but i hope anita would be used more in midfield. Get debuchy ffs....and let anita develop nicely in a 3 man midfield along tiote and cabaye. Agree anita can play RB but in the long run (or winter) i hope we improve that position.
-
spot on imo. hard to believe its true though. results is not enough to keep us and especially players happy. our best players cant be happy if this anti-football continues.
-
hope to see this if ba is injured. Hope we also start playing anita more regulary....he need a run of games to really settle. Sometimes i think Pardew dont know what to do with him....for what reason did he spend all that money on him....as a rotation option, probably
-
think obertan has put on weight since last season....looks like it has helped him alot. He has not lost his pace. If you do it right it doesn´t have to slow you imo.
-
gained some weight, right? looks stronger and still very fast. i have been very hard on him, but he is doing well in the european matches. In the PL he should still be on the bench as he isn´t good enough....stil prefer ferguson over him on the LW....if changes are made. He is a very good option to have on the bench...especially late on in the game. keep it up, son...i might have to eat my own words.
-
well, i have not seen him for some time and i was starting to wonder how big a talent he was. very impressive yesterday....seems like we can expect the very finest from him in the future. crazy legs

that is so funny -
I'll like to see that. Would also like to see both amalifitano and marveaux get some time on the pitch.
-
? Tavnerier ? ? Ferguson Tiote *Bigi Anita Obertan Marveaux Cisse * maybe gosling

never a red card. lost us 2 points. colo was awesome!
-
at least he is aware and will adress it...slowly. Very very positive. need to change style or we will never succeed over a longer period. and i also believe we already have the players for this.

no matter formation i hope we will buy a attacking LW. maybe that will be harsh on sammy, marveaux, amalfitano, obertan, ferguson, jonas (who should play central anyway).

I think he prefers 4-4-2 and whacking long balls to the front man. If he was really a 4-3-3 man there's no way he'd have spent so long last season and tried to start this season playing that type of football. He wouldn't be much of a manager if he changed his formation and entire football philosophy to keep one player happy. First time I recall us going 433 was in January v QPR, midway through the 1st half, when he surprised everyone by putting Ben Arfa on for the injured Cabaye. It had been an abysmal performance up to that point. It picked up slightly and we won the game. Don't think 433 had ever been mentioned as a possibility on here up until that game, it was entirely his own doing, and I reckon it was the best way of fitting Ben Arfa into the team at that stage of his development. Alot of posters on here at that time actually wanted him to get back to the tactics that got us unbeaten in 11 games. He then tried it in a few other games that month, but it didn't look great with Best out wide and Jonas sometimes used as an attacking central midfielder. So I wouldn't say hes opposed to it particularly. I just think that at the moment he wants to get 2 quality strikers near the goal as much as possible, but is finding it very difficult to make it work. Personally I was very impressed with the way he evolved the team last season: Started with a 442 with a front 4 of Jonas-Ba-Best-Obertan, and Simpson and Taylor at fullback, (that went 11 unbeaten). By the end of March he had successfully got Ben Arfa and Cisse into the side, both playing incredibly effectively (I thought HBA was quite poor this time last year) and he'd started to get Santon going as well. Got 7 wins in 8 with some decent football at times, sometimes in a 442 and sometimes a 433. So I'd say hes been extremely impressive as far as tactics go. We are struggling a little bit at the moment, but theres more than enough evidence from last season to suggest he will take steps to sort it out. Very good post. not sure if convinced still think we should go for 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 as our main formation and accept that ba and cisse does not work that great together. We can always swap during matches (to 4-4-2 for example) and play both cisse and ba together if needed. Just think cisse is wasted in every position other than central striker. he just has to focus on his hold up play, be in box and his finishing. think we have the players to play more attractive football...and ba, cisse and especially arfa have shown how deadly we are on the counter.
-
I would say because Ba is more suited to the role. Cisse plays better up front leading the line, getting in the box whereas Ba has the ability to drop deeper and still create chances and score. agree. very obvious imo.

i wouldnt mind we played average for sometime if only i could see we at least were trying to develop a style we wanted to play for years to come. respect to clubs like swansea. Its like pardew changes everything because of the opponent. 4-3-3 looks attacking....but it is also 4-5-1 defending and it makes us so much more fluid and attractive. If he cant see this then im really worried. This should have been started this summer at the latest. Then all our key players would trust pardew and believe in our progress. We can not change so much from game to game without loosing our own rythm....we wont progress. Many play 2 different positions all the time...some three....NOT GOOD at all. Fair enough to have 1 or 2 allround squad players...but we have too many....perch, (santon), ferfuson, jonas, r. taylor, anita, changes in attack > cisse on the right WTF. i think pardew is afraid to drop either cisse or ba....which i can understand. Maybe thats the reason he keeps the 4-4-2 since 4-3-3 is not that suited for them both. 4-4-2 the way we play it will ever be a success....as i see it we are very close to have a really strong 4-3-3 side. We need cb´s who can play football....nothing new. But LW is position i really hope we would buy a quality player for. imagine what someone like debuchy, mbiwa and pacey/goalscoring LW would do to our squad. We will lose players like cabaye next summer if we dont start improving asap. both in style and in quality players imo.
-
did rvp elbow cabaye on purpose and should he be punished?
-
Cisse, our most natural finisher, who does virtually nothing apart from stick the ball in the net, on the right of a 4-3-3? I need some of what you've been drinking. I'd agree with your backline, but I'd go: Krul Santon Taylor Coloccini Ferguson Tiote Cabaye Jonas HBA Ba Cisse close to strongest. anita & simpson are good alternatives. maybe good with a break now to get thinks fixed. hope we use the break to adjust and train /develop the 4-3-3. its the only way forward. Keep that formation for years to come and find the right players for the system and not just good bargains. its also an formation which is easy to adjust depending on opponent (4-5-1 defending and we have good players to counter, mostly arfa...wouldnt mind a pacey LW also)....as long as we dont play 4-4-2 one week and the 4-3-3 and so on....then we will never progress...imo.
-
i do not see a heavy defeat coming. control RVP and we should be alright
-
really like jonas...but im starting to see what he is missing. if he is to have a future here then it is in a 3 man midfield like we played yesterday. But if we starting playing that formation then i think he can become really useful and challenge for a start. use him proper in cm and we will still have a good player. doesnt work for him at LW any more....especially not in a 4-3-3.

will he be a smallest LB ever? hope he makes it as a regular first team player (rotation) at LB or LW.
