Agreed 100% When the hell is Andy Carroll going to be worth more than £35m? Even if he realises his potential I assume by then there would be some kind of financial regulations in place within football to stop enormous fees in the future. So long as the money is invested in the TEAM in the summer, Ashley did a very good bit of business with the Carroll sale. agree. especially when caroll asked nufc to match the wages liverpool was offering him! atm i like the wage-structure we have....its the only way to progress and it will more or less only attract players who really want to play for us!

3 or 5 in defends....no thanks! 4 for me with a RB and LB who can go forward! 4-4-2 / 4-4-1-1 / 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 these are the preferred systems....depending on who is available! 3 or 5 at the back is just silly imo!

we will never know....move on! it happened (sadly), but think about it....if we buy 2 quality strikers, a defending midfielder to challenge tiote and a better (more attacking RB) i think we will challenge spurs for 5th position. hopefully ireland will start producing again and sign for us in the summer. cover for LB and we are rocking! should be possible for the caroll money!

5 man midfield with shola on top! sad to see caroll leave...but we have money and time to sort out our attack in the summer. I believe we have a team who still will get points this season. Sort out attack....buy two good strikers and 1 or 2 in other positions in the summer a we will be even better! Its not all bad....money isn´t everything but 35mill is a lot of money. not defending ashley...but im in a way glad we are not paying silly wages....maybe if the economy has improved in 2 years time mabye then we can start paying higher wages to attract the exciting players we all would like to see in the black and white jersey?

If we sold caroll and spend some of the money right it could improve us....not in this window though!

Going on like a mong??f*** off man,£25m is a great fee,someone like Torres is only going for about £35m man,take a reality check. What if he gets found out next season and defenders know how to mark him and his goals drop?It happens and yes he has bags of "potential" but we have all seen players with so called bags of "potential" struggle badly in the past. Look I'm not calling Carroll and think he has a great future if he gets his head right but whatever way you look at it,£25m is a massive fee for someone with relatively little top flight games behind him. yes 25m is a lot of money for an fairly unproven player. but if we sell him now we will send the ultimate wrong message! + caroll can´t be stopped....at least not in the air! He can still improve in every area.

Agree with this. Those players above are good enough to get us to a steady top 6 and push for Europe. Fill the gaps with similar quality and we could sneak 4th. It would cost millions and would take a number of years, by which time Barton & Colo would be getting on and they would need replacing too. Pop in a few duff signings and it becomes virtually impossible to compete IMO. Plus we will probably lose a few players too. Quite depressing really. jonas, nolan, taylor, simpson and williamson could be in there as well. Think williamson,s. taylor, simpson should be kept as back up. ranger out on loan for a season or 2

ireland and nolan to start both in midfield....i think they both are best in the same position behind the striker. Defends is not their game aren´t they too similar? one should cover for the other... only think we should buy if he is very cheap!

It's a very good result, same as the mackems match. But it's daft to completely ignore the context, which is four points pissed away.
