This is just as full of unsupported assumptions as anyone else's guess. In the end what matters is that he's still here and presumably will be playing. That a good thing.

Maybe I texted him "Stahp b n a dick m8" and he had a change of heart.

Hard to believe the Roeder Kuyt summer was seven years ago.

Calm down everyone. At times like these, I find it helps to enjoy a picture of Cisse on a mountain coaster. http://i.imgur.com/pHyjYi6.jpg

I just want to say that I backed Cisse all along. Edit: Meh. Second time today.

Onward and upward . . . Deep sigh.

That's mighty Christian of him.

Won't be held to ransom, etc.

This is starting to feel like one of those windows where we'll end up drawing on the talents of a Sibierski or Shefki Kuqi at the last second. There's still a bit of time left, but I'm starting to feel those vibes.

I haven't seen anyone in here stand up for Wonga. It's not about backing Wonga over Cisse or vice versa. Regardless of the bad choice in picking Wonga as a sponsor, Cisse has a contract with the club which I can only guess generally requires him not to be insubordinate. If he feels compelled not to wear the Wonga logo, that's all well and good, but he has to accept the consequences and the club has to do what it has to do to protect itself from the harm it is suffering from Cisse's insubordination. Views that Wonga is not a good company and that Cisse is harming the club through his insubordination aren't incompatible.

Aye. The two obvious compromises as I see it are: 1. Allow the player to wear no logo etc, or 2. Sell the player and find a replacement in an appropriate timescale. Neither has been done. As for Cisse only raising a pittance if we accepted we had to sell him, I'm pretty sure the figure we would have received six weeks ago is roughly comparable to what we'd get now after all this anyway - neither scenario is conducive to getting the best price. The only difference is the club is suffering in the meantime. Funny, that. Instead and as always we've gone for 3. Indulge in as much brinksmanship and poker-handing as possible to show how strong Ashley and the board are in now kow-towing to anyone but their own demands regardless of the wider consequences aka the team and it's viability at staying up in the PL. This really seems to be the only move in Ashley's repertoire. Unfortunately it's not one that's good for very many things. This club is in dire need of a little nuance.

Management seems totally incapable of handling any situation professionally. This isn't that hard of a problem. If he has an issue wearing the logo, you meet with him, let him know that you appreciate his concerns and will try to work with him to address the situation. But you also lay out the facts that he has a contract with the club, that the club has a contract with the sponsor, and that those contracts present certain limitations on what each party is entitled to do. If they can reach a reasonable resolution within the confines of those limitations, great. If not, then promptly do what needs to be done to mitigate the harm to the club. Above all, do it quickly, and do your best to keep it out of the press.

Like it or not, the fact is that the world of PL shirt sponsors is populated by scummy corporations: Emirates dafabet Malaysia Samsung GAC Logistics Chang Marathonbet Cash Converters Standard Chartered Etihad Airways Aon Wonga Aviva aap3 Bet365 BFS Group GWFX HP Zoopla Alpari You could pick nits with any one of those sponsors, but that's not a footballer's job.
