Interesting way to announce the Fletcher signing on the Marseille website: "He will not leave you unmoved," it began. "He will not go unnoticed. Marseille has added a Scotsman to the mix. And if you know anything about the mentality of that people, you'll know that's good news." I think they may end up being disappointed.

I'm sure that when they do submit any bids for players, the first person they ring next is Lee Ryder to let him know.

Stifler's made you look a right mug here Bottled Dog.

Just seen on Wiki that he only got 1 goal in 171,000 games for Bastia. Bought a dud.

Well that sounds like a load of blatant lies.

Jesus, you have to laugh.

What was that Chronicle live feed on about earlier with Steve Harper getting linked with this bunch?

I think he'll just whack Lascelles in at left back and tell him not to bother too much with the attacking side, just make sure he defends properly.

Brentford teammate Maxime Colin commented that Judge "feels the football and he has a really good kick." I'm sold, sign him up.

Injured them and they got put back on the wrong way round. Same surgeon as Hatem.

Of course it won't be the end of Perez. Right now we need goals, Perez and Mitro need relief as they aren't ready to bang them in each week. To compete you've got to have options in your team, Perez is clever enough to be useful in a number of positions, whether it be with Berahino, playing deeper, wider or in a front three. Or simply giving Perez a break and mixing it up etc. I was more referring to the people who think that we'll let Perez go if we sign Berahino. Of course I'd like to sign Berahino and rotate him and Perez, just don't want Perez sold because we've bought another striker.

I think he is actually pretty quick once he gets going. His acceleration off the mark isn't great, but when he's been up against really quick players who've just tried to knock it past and do him on the outside he's very rarely let them past. The fact that he's a good defender means he usually gets a good slide tackle in too. Can think of a few who've tried to outpace him (Sterling, Navas, Martial) and had little success.

Would rather not sign Berahino if it meant the end of Perez to be honest. Would be completely pointless.

Not a lot admittedly I do think though that Bellamy's track record with things off the pitch was quite a bit better than Berahino's at the same point of their careers, and hadn't fallen out with any of his managers to nearly the same extent as Berahino has thus far. This should be factored into the fee, which I don't believe it is if we are planning on a bid for £18 million. Bellamy didn't cost £18 million. Bellamy cost £6.5m in 2001. I don't have 'average fee' data over the years, so I thought I'd reference the British transfer record instead. At that time Rio Ferdinand was the most expensive British transfer at £29,100,000. Nowadays that record goes to Gareth Bale, at £85,300,000. That is 2.93 times how much Rio cost. Bellamy's £6.5m * 2.93 = £19,053,265. So you're right. We shouldn't be paying £18m, we should be paying £19m. I don't agree with using Bale as the most expensive British transfer - it's Real Madrid doing the buying in that instance and their spending power is far greater than any of the British clubs. Bale is also the most expensive player in the world, not just Britain, and an anomaly in the sense that he is the only British player to my knowledge to hold that particular accolade. Zidane, his equivalent in 2001, went for £45 million - 50% more than Ferdinand, the most expensive British player. If you instead use the most expensive player bought by a British club as the benchmark - Angel di Maria at £59.7 million (ignoring Martial and his weird add-ons until they kick into play further down the line) - di Maria works out at 2.051 times the price of Rio, which would lower Bellamy's modern day fee to £13,335,052. Jesus Christ.

Hope this doesn't scupper any potential incomings.

Just to add to this, the biggest fee we received for a player in 2001 was when Oldham Athletic splashed out £150k for the highly rated David Beharall. Compare that to the £3.26m we received this season for Davide Santon: 3.26m / 150k = 21.73 Bellamy's £6.5m * 21.73 = £141,250,000. So as SEMTEX has already elegantly described, Berahino is well worth the reported £18m.

Well Bristol City put in a bid earlier this week for him so I hope not Strike rate of less than a goal every 4 games in Ligue 2 and Ligue 1. Nein danke.
-
He's always been a good one-on-one defender, even on his debut coming in against Navas he performed his defensive duties really well. It's just a shame he isn't a few inches taller because, for his size, he's actually good in the air and would be a good left-sided centre half.
-
I think the context is that he's obviously had a fall out with some people at the club and he couldn't be arsed any more. Which obviously doesn't excuse him doing that, but I would hope he doesn't do that on a regular basis.

Just had an email saying the box office is open until half time so must be a fair few unsold tickets still.

Finishing 9th > Winning a cup

On loan? He's Burnley's first choice striker. It's because he's already played for two clubs this season. A loan would apparently go around the rules. Oh right, thought it seemed a bit odd.

A few updates from the first half came up on my Twitter feed when I was scrolling through last night, sounded like we were getting a right pasting.
