  1. Losing 2-0 away to Luton in an FA Cup 4th Round Replay in 1994 (when I was 8). An 18-year old John Hartson scored for Luton, I remember Mike Hooper was in goal for us and the best moment has to go to Barry Venison for clearing the ball off the line with an overhead kick. No idea why we even went, we lived miles away from Luton at the time.
  2. He was the one I really wanted, going to be torture if he works wonders at Hamburg.

Mike Ashley is such a bizarre person. All he has to do is appoint a respected / promising manager with a decent track record (which would maybe cost around £3m or so?) and let the club spend whatever profit it makes on improving the team. He doesn't have to dip into his own pockets at all, even appoint a chairman to run the club if he wants for another £1m or whatever it would cost per year (again that could be taken out of the club's profit). And what would he get? Much less hassle from the fans and media, and a football club that would be much more likely to be successful. Obviously the issue would then be all the sports direct advertising etc etc, but it would be a lot more acceptable to a lot of people if we just were ran how a football club should be. There's absolutely no need or excuse for running the club how it is currently being run, and no-one gets any benefit at all if, as is widely reported and rammed down our throats, he doesn't take any money out of the club himself. The man is a fucking nutjob and none of what he does makes sense other than him being the most vicious, cold-hearted prick the world has ever seen.
  4. Someone at work (in York) was wearing his Sunderland scarf today whilst having his coffee break. Good god I wanted to kill him.
  5. Supervising a Belgian lad at work who is an Anderlecht fan, told him we've been linked with Mitrovic and he laughed in my face, cheeky git
  6. Raylor spent the majority of the game chasing Di Maria's shadow until he was taken off
  7. Not sure whether to bring Costa back in for Rooney this game week or not?
  8. He gets a pay bump and an extension on his contract I believe. There was an interview with Jonas around Christmas / New Year time where he said the contract extension only kicks in if he plays something like 7 or 8 more games for us.
  9. The camera cut to Carver when we had a throw in just past the half way line after about 60mins and he was just screaming 'FORWARD' at Haidara. Fucking school boy level stuff. God forbid we try and get the ball into midfield and build an attack.
  10. Bit harsh, I for one would like to give him a send off at the final home game of the season. Think that's the least he deserves
  11. To be fair that was daft from Abeid, he went charging up the left wing, lost it and was out of position. No need for the public criticism though which carver seems to love.
  12. Haven't seen it again but from watching it live he was back pedalling wasn't he? Harder to get off the ground and reach a high ball
  13. Incredible how he's carved out a career at a high level without being able to control a football or strike one in the desired direction
  14. Going to Dortmund vs Koln in March, can't wait! (Despite them being shit now)
  15. Jesus that Fifa and football manager 'expert' commenting on transfers on the BBC website is the worst idea I've seen for a long time
  16. Well this is shit. Was looking forward to seeing him back in the team, and what the hell is the point in selling him for so little money? Not as if we're cash-strapped and we need all the defenders we have at the minute. What a joke of a club we are.
  17. Just finished watching 'Once more for bobby' on sky. What a great man, the respect he has from ex-footballers and fans around the world is incredible. Couldn't be in starker contrast to the current classless cretins running our club.
  18. Is that Jonas with the assist as well?
  19. One more payment for rest of the season I believe (2nd Feb) then cancel DD etc. Just pay it (if you want) by card. Yep I cancelled by email yesterday and they replied saying that the February payment is the last for this season and to cancel the direct debit after the February payment. I was also on the 10 year deal.
  20. In that case I would agree with you, but it's still hard to let go of something you may have had for 10+ years and becomes part of your weekly routine and something you do with your dad / mates / partner. Do you still enjoy it? is the question that's probably most important within that scenario then. I agree. For me personally I don't really enjoy it much anymore, which is why I cancelled today. We cancelled for a number of reasons, mainly the whole Ashley and ambition of the club scenario, but also the fact that we now live in York and it therefore costs a lot more to get to every game, and we don't do the whole drinking before and after thing. We just go up for the match and straight back down usually, might stick around after and meet friends or go for a meal or something but not very often. If it was more a social thing with friends every week and we were still in Newcastle it would be a much more difficult decision.

  22. I'm not going to criticise anyone for keeping their ticket. Annoyed me the last couple of years when I've renewed and I've seen posts on here calling people who renew idiots etc. It's everyone's personal choice ffs, everyone has different reasons for renewing / not renewing and it's wrong to criticise anyone for that.
  23. Just sent my email to the club confirming that we're not renewing. Came very close to doing it for the last 2 seasons but there was something that couldn't quite bring me to do it. This year though there is absolutely no doubt in my mind, it doesn't even bother me in the slightest and that in itself is pretty upsetting considering how much I used to care. Hopefully Ashley will be gone in a couple of years and we get an owner who actually cares, if that happens I might start caring again too.

Both playing for Wigan now, lovely team they have.
  25. Had we known this a week before then Sophie S and I would have been there! As it is, we're flying home in a few hours, hope you find some friends anyway!
