mackem mate of mine also says he's a good signing for us which is quite surprising from him as he's usually one of those who tries to paint everything NUFC do in a bad light. My mate is usually very fair and honest in his assessment, but still good to hear he rates him.

Yep, if we get him to go with Yedlin we'd have two very pacey full backs who look good going forward, which would make a big difference when we come up against teams at home who are going to just sit back and defend. We really need another creative midfielder but it's good to see us addressing the other areas we're deficient in.

Thoughts from my Sunderland supporting friend when I asked if he was any good - 'yes, with obvious limitations. He's a archetypal modern full-back, great going forward, can't really defend. He didn't really get into our team until the last 10-15 games but did well.' Asked if he could play on the wing - 'we never played him as a winger but I don't see why not, he's got a decent cross on him.' Sounds fairly promising.

From Youtube he looks very positive going forward, whips a decent cross in and even scores a few Laurent Robert thunderbastards.

Will be a great shame if they get Remy as, unlike Benteke, he has the ability to get goals from very little/poor service (as he proved during his time with us). He'll probably get enough goals to save Pardew and Palace's bacon.

I'd take bloody Obertan back at the minute. He used to do alright against shitty teams in the Europa League, probably would be decent in the championship.

I remember he used to say something similar in all of our pre seasons. There would be a vague attempt at it in friendlies, then when the first game came around it was out the window and get that fucking ball up the other end. I also remember him talking about strengthening the underbelly of the squad when we signed Bigi and Anita and we all know how those seasons turned out.

If he is the replacement you'll be significantly weaker at the back. Surely Moyes will look to splash some cash on a better replacement though and have McNair as backup?

Yep was looking at Lingard but not sure he'll get much game time. What will their first choice midfield be? Something like this? Carrick Pogba Depay Mkhitaryan Martial Guess he might start Lingard sometimes instead of Depay. I assume Lingard, Rooney, and maybe Rashford all come before Depay. Not convinced Lingard will get many games. They also have the option of playing Pogba further forward with Fellaini / Schneiderlin / Herrera coming into the middle and playing Mkhitaryan out wide.
