You also sat in a stand that’s notorious for being full of people who do exactly what you’ve described. The lack of vocal support is endemic around most of the ground but the East Stand is known to be the worst spot for people who turn up season after season to chat to their pals or sit in silence because it means they get a couple of hours away from the wife. The football game being played on the pitch is inconsequential. And you’re quite right that the ticket prices are ridiculous. It’s the reason why I wasn’t there last night.
