I never said anything about any advanced role tbf. I'd play a flat 3 in midfield with a flat front 3 of Remy and Ben Arfa flanking Gouff. It's just that the last time I can remember us lining up with 3 defensive midfielders was against Liverpool in that 0-6 horror show

When you think though that in the last few years Everton got £20m for Rodwell and £27m for Fellani, then it does irritate a bit that we're only getting offers of £10-14m for Cabaye.

Only thing stopping me being convinced he's leaving is the fact I don't see Ashley accepting a low offer. The way Pardew goes on about him and that, I think everyone at the club will be aware of his qualities and his value to this team. They will know he's worth far more than £14m in todays market and I'm not sure anyone will stump up the £20m+ to get him in this window. Be sad if it does happen though. Just tell Ben Arfa to drift wherever there is space. Would still be far more effective than playing Shola who will just stand around upfront giving needless fouls away. Provided Cabaye isn't playing ofcourse. If he is then I'd argue Ben Arfa should play instead of Gouff, as Gouff has dropped a bit recently.

It wasn't all that long ago people were saying the same about Jonas, don't lose all hope Unless you believe the stuff about Jonas' contract. Then I could easily believe Pardew stopped playing him after being told from the guys upstairs not to. Or, as I hope we do with Shola, we simply found an upgrade in Gouffran who does all the tracking back Jonas did but also adds goals.

As long as Shola is still contracted to this club, Pardew will still play him.
