    Dan Burn

It is simply this. With the current lack of any other midfield options and with no pace across the rest of the back 4, he simply shouldn't start ahead of Tino unless we can protect him properly with a Willock or Joelinton type on the left side. What we lose in Burn's height for set pieces we gain in Tino's recovery pace and the increased attacking threat down the left side. Which historically has been known to pin back wingers deeper in their own half and helps take pressure off our defence.
  3. That moment is the first time make me intrigued to see Bruno playing higher with someone sitting behind. Never quite thought he would be suited to the higher role as we all know he's got zero pace. But his close control is up there with the best in our squad and it was a nice burst away from the defender. Would also mean he could press high like he seems to want to do without the risk of a massive gap behind if they get past his press.

    Dan Burn

Again not saying it's right, but there have rumblings amongst fans ever since Tino lost his place back to Burn and confusion of why Eddie has decided to bring Burn straight back in. Couple that with the fact yesterday was looking like a carbon copy of the Forest game and one of the few times we can't use fatigue and injuries as an excuse and I can understand that it was starting to boil over into vocal murmurings or chants for Tino. It's natural human behaviour and I think first time fans are just trying to air their thoughts to Eddie. Because I imagine everyone in the stadium must have wondered why we didn't make that change at halftime and it still took til 4:2 for him to change it. I wasn't there btw, before anyone thinks I was booing ?

    Harvey Barnes

Yeah said in another post yesterday I've noticed since coming back that Botman seems miles off it. Actually wondering if we miss Lascelles now because Botman never seems to get close to blocks or tackles. He seemed more like last year's version in the villa game as he was pressing high and trying to nick the ball. But if I was watching him post injury only...I wouldn't be seeing a highly rated top level defender, I would have to say he looks fairly bang average and not in the irreplaceable bracket with Isak and Bruno anymore.

    Dan Burn

I get people wanting to stick up for Dan after alot of the good he has done in his time here. But I think some of the frustration is mainly for Eddie but not knowing how to channel that criticism by not wanting to be overly negative and if anyone was booing it's probably more to send a message to Eddie that he's getting this wrong. Just to look at this another way, Hall has been hooked on multiple occasions and then never trusted again for performances far less painful than some of Dan Burn's this season, like yesterday and Forest. Despite the potential upside of letting him settle in and grow into the team. Then you have Tino, again another young player and who isn't left sided but has proven time and again to be a fantastic 1v1 defender and also very capable attacking option. He's by no means the finished article yet and I'm sure some will jump on him if he came in now and makes any errors too as a defence for Burn, but younger players have alot more ceiling to grow and improve than a 33 year old CB. Burn is what he is and has his advantages, but many disadvantages.

I get people wanting to analyse the tactics and press etc and we probably aren't protecting him like we used to. However players were giving him 10+ yard head starts and just knocking it round him and getting it on the other side. Team's have finally caught on how easy he is to get at and you can see it by the number of the balls pinged over him. Villa midweek were just hitting it over the top of him. They tried to keep doing it once Tino came on and didn't get any joy because he was able to cover the ground. Even other random players today other than Ogbene today were spotting they had burn ahead of them and just running him. It's not Burn's fault. The coaching staff know his limitations and failed to protect him or replace him when it was clear. Only thing I blame Dan for is the ridiculous pull on the lad in the area and then also marauding forward after trying to make amends and just making things even worse.
  8. Rather he was there than PSG to be fair. Never felt right that one of (if not the) best players in the world was wasting their club career.
  9. Clear from his post match that he was worried about their aerial threat. But considering we conceded a goal anyway from a simple set piece and Burn was getting roasted from minute one. I think you need to react much quicker. He did the same against Villa. We had a couple of warnings before their goal but he didnt change it. The thing is if Tuno coming on always seems to reduce the problems and make us look more solid then why isn't that the default setting rather than the reaction? Have to say Botman looks to have really struggled since coming back. He never seems to get near the opposition now. Think he's been an extra yard off it just like Burn since injuries.
  10. Good to have his physicality back. Just a shame we can't ever seem to have our best players fit at the same time. Would love to be able to ease him back in as well as Barnes but likely be expected to start against Forest now.
  11. 8th always felt like our only realistic aim for me left over this season. To sneek into conference league and have some form of Europe next year. Even that is looking a challenge now however. We just can't seem to get any luck regarding players. Feels like every single time without fail if a player comes back we lose another. This time looks like possibly two in and two out with Isak and Gordon for Barnes and Wilson. Not to mention the looming Bruno suspension. I just don't see us going on a sustained run unless we get legs back into midfield. Our back 4 and mid 3 have to be some of the slowest in the league and it is reeking havoc on our ability to play the way Howe wants. He can mitigate this slightly if he tweaked tactics and by bringing Tino back into the back 4 but I just don't see us putting the necessary results together to finish any higher than 8th at best.

    Harvey Barnes

Yeah hoping we can ease him back bit by bit and not now flog him every week due to more injuries (Gordon). Lessons have to be learnt and protect the long term now at short term expense if necessary. His finishing has been such a big miss all season.

    Jacob Murphy

Decent in spells but 2nd half when he moved to the left showed his limitations. Having Barnes back is big for that final product. Just hope Gordon is not out long because having Murphy and Almiron as alternatives for the right would be good.

Can we just take a second to also point out that it's one thing getting done for pace, but to not foul a guy out the box but then start fouling him inside and not let go was fucking idiotic and selfish. Yes you got done for pace mate but don't compound it by costing your team further. Then surging up the field after kicking off trying to make amends and playing all of your colleagues out of position and contributing to another goal. Horror show. But Howe should have a) subbed him soon or b) learnt from the past and start Tino in the first place.
  15. Better 2nd half but his passing was off most the game and then looked like he picked up a injury towards end? Was thinking if it's bad he needs to try and pick up his yellow. Our midfield is awful unless he's on form. But out of possession the entire defence and midfield looks like they are running isn mud. Severe lack of athleticism in our squad apart from the forwards.
  16. Can't agree with this. Burn has been rinsed plenty in the past and looked our weakest link he majority of time this and last season. The difference is he used to have Joelinton or Willock doubling up for him and protecting. I'm not gonna blame him though, he doesn't pick himself and isn't going to miraculous improve his attributes. It's on Howe this for not recognising that the negatives far out weigh he positives of Burn at Left back. He's a left side of a back 3 only. I thought after that Man U game, Tino had cemented left back as his to lose but has seemingly done nothing wrong and found himself out the team. The Forrest loss and the dropped points here are entirely on his team selection. Still love him but he needs to accept the criticism for this.

    Dan Burn

Should have been off at half time. I really don't understand playing him at home especially when he's been rinsed time and again first half. Carbon copy of the Forrest game, which makes it 10x worse as we have plenty of evidence already but to leave him on and then still again not sub him after 3:2 has cost us 3 points today. Eddie needs to be more ruthless. Tino is already proven at left back. There is no excuse other than a tino injury or illness for not starting.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I think this happened a long time before that. Was probably at least 3 years passed his sell by date when he was here. Arguably was never good enough to play for us after we were promoted.
  19. I thought I was alone in thinking this but completely agree. It actually makes me dislike Shearer quite a lot. He just comes across like he thinks he's funny and tries really hard, especially always acting like Micah is really stupid in comparison and with his, what feels like, forced swearing all the time. I have the same problem with that show with Henry, Carragher and Richards that everyone rates. Maybe Micah is the common theme here but to be fair to him at least he seems a genuine positive chap. Carragher on the other hand is the worst, He's like an older guy trying to blend in with the younger ones and ramps up his volume and how animated he gets to try and match Micah. When he's got the live audience he's at his worst. Comes across so forced and fake. I'll always remember the image of him gobbing on that young girl because of how thin skinned he is.
  20. I didn't realise his ban doesn't end to after next season already starts. That's a bit of an extra F you from the Italian authorities
  21. How long ago were these filmed? Looked like the same event in the background as all the other preseason stuff?
  22. Miggy has scored some great goals for us cutting in from the right. Seems bit harsh this. I'm guessing you didn't celebrate any of those top corner curlers he's hit then?
  23. He's 100% pretending he's injured here
  24. Liverpool players throwing themselves down at the slightest touch shocker.
