  1. “We’ve got Norwich at home, and it looks like a great opportunity.” Pardew said: “We’ll have to work like we did on Monday night if we’re going to get it. Getting boring as f*** in interviews, and in stead of taking some self criticism, he just brushes it under the carpet. [/Not just these quotes lol] Watch out Norwich!
  2. The problem is, in general we aren't creating chances with our game plans. We aren't creating chances because our approach to games are mostly defensive minded, and we seem to have forgotten how to pass our way to goal scoring opportunities. The movement and speed in "build ups" are hardly frightening, and bar a few individual performances during each game, I fail to see where the goals are coming from, because we don't look a threat. We might be hard to beat, although I think that statement is gradually losing it's power, but the players don't seem to click going forward. I think it's a combination of instructions, self confidence and player's skills (we're obviously handicapped with Obertan out there etc).
  3. Have to agree with this. That Obertan actually started is the biggest joke. Ba could easily have played the role Obertan had yesterday, and Cissé should have started up front. And Pardew's defensive close the shop-instructions strips Cabaye from all his key qualities, and he's left chasing Arsenal's one-two play like a headless chicken using all his energy. And because of the long ball tactics that started so many of Arsenal's counter attacks, our team was out of balance, meaning our pressure and attempts to retain the ball were one by one in stead of collectively. Which is hopeless when you look at the speed and agility of the Arsenal players.
  4. That Park Joo-Ho was very good vs Bayern. Should be in for him.
  5. Whilst I have some sympathy with your point, it is quite easy to reverse your question and ask at what point do the players take responsibility for the football they play and how much control do you honestly think that a manager has over the mind and actions over 11 players? It is a bit of a circular debate - no-one knows what Pardew tells the players to do, but I just find it very hard to believe that Pardew has instructed the players to pump it long for 2 major reasons: 1) It is clearly ineffective and I have not seen any evidence in Pardew's managerial career to date to suggest that he is wedded to the long ball a la Allardyce. 2) We didn't use such a direct style in the first half of the season. Well then you have your eyes closed and hands covering your ears. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/video_audio/61504.html?genre=6%3Bsport%3D3 12.40 Yep - currently typing with my tongue. Can't see that at the moment as I am at work - is this the fabled video where some bloke with an agenda says that Pardew plays long ball football and isn't very good. Forgive me if I suggest that that probably isn't conclusive proof of anything... What is proof then? I don't think he's saying it for fun. And you'd have to be blind to suggest Pardew sets out to play anything other than direct football.
  6. If Santon is injured: -----------------Krul Simpson - Willi - Colo - Perch ------------------------------------ ----------------Tiote --------Cabaye - Guthrie ------------------------------------ ----HBA--------------Ba---------- ----------------Cissé
  7. he has the attributes, santon is one of a few players we got that can actually dribble and go past players, i dont see it in obertan, marveaux , raylor, . jonas can do it sometimes when he's not busy playing as our auxiliary fullback. obertan has the pace to do it but has no balls. He has no brains.
  8. Absolutely spot on. Last year Tiote was a monster in the same fixture. Think he had close to 100 % passing success. Yesterday, even in the first half we looked very poor imo. Some moments, but all in all we had no clue. Koscielny must have won 90 % of the duels with Ba. Unsurprising, and a total waste of a player as good as him. Cisse should have played in stead of Obertan. We were lucky not to lose badly, and the hoofball is starting to strip all our ball players of they're qualities, and we're left defending for 90 minutes because of it.
  9. He's so predictable. Receives the ball deep -> has 3 or 4 passing alternatives -> decides to run with it instead -> brings it down the left with two players on him -> somehow finds a way to cross it -> doesn't, does a few tricks back and forth instead -> now has 3 players on him -> surrounded, loses the ball. http://i.imgur.com/3EFeb.jpg
  10. Would fully support that formation. Need an extra body in midfield with skill. And I've had it with Jonas. Unless we start playing 3 CBs and wing backs he should be bound for the bench.
  11. Simpson is a decent enough player, but he's a backup player. He's limited, but there aren't any alternatives. No one will convince me Ryan Taylor is the better full back. Pardew might try though.
  12. Yep. Spot on. Raylor will be brought back into the team on a golden chair. Now obviously he can't drop Ben Arfa after he's been one of our best players for the last two games (it may not say that much, but at least he's been one of the few players making a difference in attacking play), with Pardew backing him with promising quotes on both occasions. In other words Raylor will return to the good old left back, either pushing Santon into oblivion or right back (never gonna drop Simpson I'm afraid). I can't get over how much Pardew rates Ryan Taylor and Simpson. And Obertan.

  14. Ben Arfa shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as defending. Of course he can't defend. In the same way Williamson can't do anything with the ball.
  15. Quite often Krul does have to go long as the full backs don't pull out wide to receive the ball. That would probably have something to do with the instructions too.
  16. Nice. So where is Raylor playing then? I guess Santon is going to a cave for the remainder of the season.
  17. Totally agree. Maybe that's always been Allardyce's problem, he wants to pass it but he's always just had s*** footballing centre halves. You think Pardew wants Simpson and Williamson in his team? Of course he doesn't. Well he wants Raylor and Obertan in his team.
  18. He's definitely our best player. Consistent as fuck.
