James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

60-70m for someone on the last year of their contract? You’d think 45m tops would do it, surely. -
We’ll be fighting over the same midfielders next window for sure.
-
Looks a very big talent. Always has a punchably smug face on though, so hope that’s reflected in the price.
-
Glad it’s not just me who thinks a 1-0 loss is nailed on.
-
We could do a lot worse than raiding Southampton when they go down. Loads of great young talent there (their issue was relying on them in the most competitive league in the world).
-
@nufc123 Agree. Goes both ways; all about scouting and knowing which players have the attributes and mentality to flourish in your playing style.
-
All of those players Liverpool bought from Southampton won them a Champions League. Arsenal buying Jesus and Zinchenko may yet win them the league too.
-
@nufc123Buying players from outside the PL you mean? I’d say so, especially if they’re playing for smaller sides. There’ll be obvious exceptions where the player’s talent is so undeniable that they’d thrive in any league but it’s easy to see why buying solid performers in the PL is considered a safer bet.
-
I think getting good value deals from abroad is getting harder and, with the strength of the PL, massively more risky. Someone like Kone for example would go for 50m; great talent on paper, but I wouldn’t exactly call it a bargain. See also Diaby for a possible 65m, Scamacca for 35m, Antony for 80m etc.
-
No way of knowing of course but I can’t see us spending 200m. It’ll be similar to last season’s window imo- 120 to 130m.
-
Same , in the fucking office as well. If that was the sound of an orgasm, you’ve just broke my PA’s fast for Ramadan. Well done.
-
Same . Buy a bit of their gear for gym or boxing and it’s quite decent quality from my experience. Logo looks like it’s from a shitty car company though, so there’s that.
-
Aside from his wages which would presumably be above our self-imposed (Ffp imposed?) wage structure. But yeah, he’d be an amazing signing for us imo. All the athleticism of McTominay but better technically and the ability to play (well) as a 6.
-
Can’t defend this one.
-
Passing and stamina you wouldn’t agree with? I’d argue he doesn’t need extensive coaching and can come in and do well almost instantly. Anyway, appears we’ll have to agree to disagree here mate
-
They were asking for silly money? Didn’t want to leave? Who knows. His ability is unquestionable though, imo anyway.
-
In what way is he not complete? Close control? Check Passing? Check check Vision? Check check Stamina/ graft? Check check Defensive ability? Check (ish) Long distance shooting? Check Leadership: check set piece ability? Check check check I’d say his only weakness is elite athleticism (in terms of pace and power) otherwise I’d say he’s pretty complete.
-
Covers the most distance of any pl player in the league for the third season running. I’ll give you that he may not be the most athletic but he certainly has “the legs”.
-
Stats-wise he’s the fittest player in the league. Most distance covered by any PL player for 3 seasons in a row now and has ridiculous passing and shooting ability. He’s as complete as midfielders get.
-
Sorry. That’s a ridiculous opinion. He’s not mediocre at all.
-
He’s a rich man’s Longstaff. All of the running and graft but with the bonuses of leadership, elite passing and vision (not to mention the set-pieces). He’d fit in like a glove; we’ve got enough athleticism with Willock and Joelinton, we need more quality on the ball and chance creation imo.
-
He’s well worth 40m imo. Not just a dead-ball specialist either.
-
Was surprised he wasn’t linked more. Would be perfect for us.
