Excuse the Bruceism but It really is about point accumulation at this point. We need to win just under half of our games from now on. I just don’t see it. I also don’t see us spending that much in January to fix enough of our glaring issues, so maybe I’m just a pessimist.

Worried we’re supposedly serious about buying Cook. 3-4 years ago I would have said he was very underrated, past his best now I’d imagine (seeing as he doesn’t seem to get into the Bournemouth team). While the loyalty is admirable in some respects, I think Howe’s problem with Bournemouth was that he wasn’t ruthless enough with upgrading his playing staff. Despite decent spending, they never really pushed on while they were in the Premier League.

Big ask, but going into Jan with 14 points or more and we’re absolutely fine.

Need to win at least once every 3 games from now on. It’s not inconceivable but we’ve got no wiggle room for more fuck-ups like that Norwich game.

Need to double our current points total by January to give us a decent shout. Definitely possible but unlikely. 4 points from the next 2 would be huge for our survival chances.
